themotivator Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 YAKUBU INTERVIEW (Just found this on youtube) did someone say ambition?
The Doctor Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Didn't take a genius - I've already got the evidence Being pedantic - that's the wrong morrisons.
Kent Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Looking through quite a few forums of different clubs it's funny how much opinions vary from user to user. Seems to be a split of people saying "Unbelievable at this level, incredible signing for them" to "He's old, overweight and has a shit attitude." Nothing in between. Jealousy is a cruel mistress I suppose.
Raj Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Dont shoot me down but is Yak really the man for City? Hasnt really been playing much let alonebanged em in for Everton has he? Seems like another 'big name' signing by Sven just for the sake of it ala Kirkland. Sorry ,just throwing my 2 pennies worth in the ring!!!

I guess we shall see but ain't you at least happy Leicester for once can somewhat compete in the transfer market and can look at these kinda players instead of signing a Josh Low mark 2?
Edmund Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 "Sven, meet me round the back in five minutes. I've got some fine Moroccan Black"
Raj Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Oh yeah the last thing i wanna do is piss on the parade, but the signing of Kirkland showed me that perhaps The owners/sven are more interested in the BIG names more than anything else. I'd sooner see hungry young players who want to achieve something with us,like Naughton,Cunningham,Yuki,Waggy etc...

I guess i am abit with Yakubu but i'm hoping this one turns out right, i guess you can't always get it right... I think Sven wants a mix of youth and abit of experience so i trust the likes of Naughton, Cunningham won't be the last of the younger recruits
KFS Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 My heart is saying he'll set the division alight, my head is saying otherwise. Prove me wrong Yak!
shailen Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Just saw a video of him on youtube in evertons 07/08 season where i think he scored more thab 20 goals. He looked phenominal, excellent finisher, great with his head and also had one or two tricks. Injury and that infamous world cup miss has devalued him and made him look like a bad player which has only helped us. Full marks to sven for this, if he can recapture some of that form, we could get a return of around 12 goals this season i think. Wow i am impressed!
Haydos Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Just saw a video of him on youtube in evertons 07/08 season where i think he scored more thab 20 goals. That's no basis to go on whatsoever, if he was on course for 20 this season would he be joining us? I'm very happy with this signing but i'm reserving judgement for now.
richardsfoxes Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I presume the fee is fixed in this contract at the end of the season, if we do get promoted and he scores 15-20 goals from now to the end his price will surely double....

Could be either one really or neither Either a fee has been agreed or it hasn't and we just have first option should another team show interest in the summer.

Nobody is a guaranteed success.

Seems like another 'big name' signing by Sven just for the sake of it ala Kirkland. Sorry ,just throwing my 2 pennies worth in the ring!!! I think it's a good signing for us - He's had amazing success at this level & gone on to be an £11m Prem striker... Sure he's not been great this year but Everton hardly create chances and they'd sooner play a 4-6-0 anyway. If the worst does happen and he's injured - we can send him back at the end of the season & not spent £4m on him. My concern is that he's too similar to Vassell so I don't see him as a partner, more a replacement - not that that in itself is a problem but I have a fear in the back of my mind that Waggy won't get a sniff now which is a shame if we can't bring him up to the potential we know he's got. In summary a great & importantly risk-free signing for us
Fox 4 Life Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Well he sure is saying the right things... "I heard they were interested in me before January and I didn't think twice," he said. "I wanted to come over because of the ambition they have. They want to be in the Premier League again. The players want to be in the Premier League. "The football has been really, really good, attractive to watch and I am sure it will be good to play. It is a great move for me. "There were other Premier League clubs who were interested but I think I have made the right decision. "I also had offers from abroad as well but I wanted to come here to play. I am not regretting it. It is only five months but before you know it we will be in the Premier League again. We will certainly be trying. "I want to try and help the team with my experience. Hopefully at the end we will be happy. "I hope this move can be permanent in the summer. The players have been very nice to me and it is as if I have known them for ages already. When you come to a team and everyone is nice to you it is really cool for me. I am enjoying it. "I hope I will renew my contract at the end of the season." http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/sport/turned-Premier-clubs-City-8211-Yakubu/article-3099989-detail/article.html?

Master Fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 If i was a Preston defender I think I’d be wearing special underwear for the game on Saturday. Total annihilation. This is where Leicester start their Blitzkrieg on the Championship.

Houdini Logic Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 "Sven, meet me round the back in five minutes. I've got some fine Moroccan Black" Surely you should have went for Thai weed?
Houdini Logic Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 If i was a Preston defender I think I’d be wearing special underwear for the game on Saturday. Total annihilation. This is where Leicester start their Blitzkrieg on the Championship. It takes more than just one player you know.... ...oh hang on ...our other 10 are also ace! Annihilation it is!
Master Fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Haha i like what you've put. Bleeding hope so as well. Start the march. We take no prisoners. We'll bulldoze our way to the top crushing every team in our path. It starts here.
Heskey2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Love Yak's attitude, proof will be in the pudding and that but feeling very positive about the option he gives us up front, Vassell on his own through the middle has been ok but he can't hold the ball up too well, something that the Yak can definitely help with> Exciting times!
MikeyT Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Start the march. We take no prisoners. We'll bulldoze our way to the top crushing every team in our path. It starts here. To literally the top, or the playoffs?
Parafox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Come on.... I mean... Chris (lovely guy) Kirkland has the positional sense of Stevie Wonder and the wrists of Graham Norton.Best save I ever saw him make was with his face. I hate to say it but... I told you so.He may have been unsighted for the first goal but the second and third, totally his fault. Twatting about like he was auditioning for Dancing on Ice and then hopelessly out of postion at the near post. Waste of a place IMHO. He would barely make the team at Barwell now. I too was very sceptical about Kirkland. See above after Ipswich I am as sceptical about Yakubu, especially since I had him in my Dream Team last year and the bugger helped me finish bottom of the league. (well it was only within our work colleagues, but even so...) Hopefully not another injury prone loaner hoping to use us to step back up
