STUHILL Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I still think there is a possibility with the 24 hour call-back in place if Hart got injured. He obviously isn't happy and must be putting real pressure on Mancini. Fingers crossed!!
ajthefox Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Considering the small percentage of wages Cardiff pay man city for Bellamy, if we pay all of givens wages we are mugs in my opinion. How can we justifiably match the wages offered by the richest club in the world considering our league position etc If the owners are prepared to throw obscene amounts of their own hard earned money at this 'project' fair enough, but I feel for that sort of money we could realistically buy just about who we want on a perm. deal, there must be plenty of high quality keepers that would jump through hoops for half of shay givens wages! Just because the man city owners are prepared to throw money at players they don't even want, I think we need to be a bit more savvy. Good post mate, +1. Them willing to spend money is great and I think it shows they really want to succeed, but they are being a bit heavy handed if they are willing to pay that much because as you rightly said, his wages are insane and thats not even considering any possible bonus'. 100k starting monday until the ipswich game would be 1.3M..
kyle09uk Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Ricardo anyday! Givens wages are just obseen, much rather go for stability and bring in a keeper that is going to stay here permanantly and on a free than paying 100k a week to do Man City a favour. Money can be spent elsewhere..
Jon25747 Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 http://www.leicester.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=230020 Maybe not happening after all.
darko2k7 Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 would take .... Smithies Sparoni Camp Ricardo Loach any day rather than pay all his wages not matter how good he is , need to be careful we don't get to big for our boots or other clubs will start to walk all over us thinking we will pay anything !!!
stix Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Ive only heard of Smithies through FM2011, is he worth a shout?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/sport/football/manchester_city/s/1406715_shay_given_staying_at_manchester_city_says_roberto_mancini Shay Given staying at Manchester City, says Roberto Mancini Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given is set to stay with Manchester City in the January transfer window. The Irish stopper was expected to leave in search of first team football, but boss Roberto Mancini is keen to avoid a repeat of last season's goalkeeper crisis. With Joe Hart out on loan and Given injured, the Blues had to call for an emergency loan for Marton Fulop. Mancini said: "The window closes soon. For us it would be impossible to find another goalkeeper like Shay. He must stay here. "If we lose another player we need to bring in someone different. It is impossible if we have 19-20 players for the next four months."
darko2k7 Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Smithies is a Very promising keeper played at england youth level for years and been number one at hudd for couple of season's now dispite his age , few prem club' s been sniffing around so could be tricky plus he a huddy boy so might only leave for prem team
Guest bennytwohats Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Not gonna lie, i would absolutely love it if Given was here. I'd put him in the top 3 or 4 keepers in the country. That said with the numbers talked about above (1.3m for the rest of the season?), at this level it's absolutely crazy, so out of proportion you'd probably be expecting him to not concede at all - which won't happen. So i'm not particularly disappointed if we don't get him. Weale has been fantastic lately so it's far from the end of the world - though in general i do have doubts over some of his decisin making and distribution.
Jake SH Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Think this would be a crazy signing in all fairness, in my opinion it would make sense to focus our finances into players who will be cheaper but come with vast experience like Ricardo , we are not even gaurnteed the prem this season. Fair enough the owners appear very ambitious which is great but surely resources would stretch greatly at paying such inflated wages, think options like this should be considered for when we return to the promise land.
Shipman Out Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I can't believe Sven hasn't gone in for Kieron Westwood, top class quality young keeper who saves Cov Scum shed loads of points every season and most importantly is AVAILABLE NOW for a rumoured max price of 1.5 million
Salieri Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I can't believe Sven hasn't gone in for Kieron Westwood, top class quality young keeper who saves Cov Scum shed loads of points every season and most importantly is AVAILABLE NOW for a rumoured max price of 1.5 million Was just about to type this but you saved me the bother.
funkyrobot Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I see the odds of Shay Given coming to Leicester have been shortened again as he has stated today that he doesn't mind dropping down to the championship for games. I've heard from others that his Ferrari has been spotted in Leicester over the last few weeks in one of the city hotel car parks! Beats chrissy Kirkland eh?
Haydos Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Come on man, transfers thread Edit: Just a handy hint, didn't mean to sound like a knob
StanSP Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 I saw that. I also saw another thread about Given too.

STUHILL Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 Hold on to your hats. Not saying that it's definately going to, BUT, this could well happen with the next few days. Haha oh Bert, just when I was losing faith. It's a move that makes a lot of sense though as crazy as it sounds. Just hope we aren't paying all his wages but then again, it's not our money! GAME ON!!!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 January 2011 Posted 29 January 2011 would be fantastic - not holding my breath much to my wifes annoyance
