Play offs bid, will it be successful?

Highly unlikely, but there is always one team who comes on strong at the end of the season and sneaks in, so I won't be ruling it out just yet.

The maths are against us, but there's still a chance - and whilst there's a chance we've got to believe, right?

If we don't make it and all the loan signings depart we're going to have to do yet another massive rebuilding effort in the summer which could well take the early part of the season to 'gel' so finger crossed we do make it.

touch and go. erase Hume's goal and i'd feel a lot better. i think it's too little too late with all that's going on. but 6th place...just maybe

FEED THE YAK AND HE WILL SCORE.

You have to look at our squad (plus any additions between now and the end of Jan), management and ambition and have to feel like there is some chance we can do it.

Stranger things have happened.

Hmmm we are on 36 points after 27 games. The absolute minimum we need is 70 points which is 34 points from 19 games, but realistically we need around 72 points.

We need 11 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses to guarantee a play off spot.

Seems possible, we wasted the first nine games of the season.

Definately possible but we need to go on a run similar to watford, of a winning streak in order to do this. We need to win our next three at least and then take it fron there

I think the 6th place team will finish on something like 65 points this season as it really close and everyone besting everyone, I know we say everyone beats everyone in this league any way, but even more so this season....

I've given up on predicting where we will finish, everytime I adopt a slight sense of optimism we seem to be knocked down a peg. I will go for mid table finish, with Norwich hopefully finishing beneath us.

I think we can do it! We're unbeaten at home under Sven - our away form has improved with the exception of a late goal at PNE - anythings possible - unlikely - but lets hope Top and Sven have something in the pipelines to get us moving!

To achieve it we will need to have a glorious run of victories, rather like Watford has done. I think they've won 6 or 7 in a row since we put them right. There's every chance we could do that, but will we? That's a different matter. Of course we will drop points along the way, and you could say it's better to do that against teams lower in the table, like Preston, who shouldn't finish ahead of us. Games like Millwall on Saturday are the ones we must win, not only to register the three points ourselves, but to stop them getting any. The games to come against the likes of QPR, Watford, Forest, Coventry, Reading are the ones we need to win.

But to go from bottom after nine games to the play offs would be a remarkable achievement, even with our newly found financial muscle.

Mathematically it's possible but the games are ticking down.

Some people seem to think it's all about yet more new signings but it's not.

It's about team spirit and philosophy. Getting the best from what we have.

And so far we've been awful at that.

We just don't set out to destroy opponents.

Instead there are times in matches when we voluntarily concede the initiative.

Playing out time is the most foolhady example. It even cost us relegation once but still we never learn.

With the team we have promotion should be a doddle. But it won't be without attitude.

I don't even undestand what we have to lose.

Anything but victories is pretty much a waste now.

So why not do as I've begged for years and commit ourselves to calculated attack.

Heaven knows the other approach has been tried and tried again. And look where it's got us!

We're trying to beg promotion instead of going out and winning it.

When we score a goal the next instructions should be simple. Press even faster and score another.

I don't think so, it is possible but we're just as capable of going on a bad run than a good one, which we can't afford as we've given ourselves no cushion, unlike last season.

If we get in the play-offs Sven will have done a brilliant job.

Most important word in the whole post.

We still have an issue in defence and assuming we are going to continue to encourage our fullbacks to get forward we need someone from midfield to cover the back 4.

For me this is pivotal, we can attack as much as we like but if we continue to leak at the back there will be times we simply can not score enough to win the points.

Otherwise, completely agree, but do worry whether Sven is a 'team spirit' kind of manager...:dunno:
