Ashley Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Are you sure about selling out twice over for Donny because last Friday you could still get a ticket from the shop with just one stub from a previous game. If it was that in demand it would have sold out far quicker than the day before the game. Cardiff's stadium was always designed with the extra tier in mind, they had a huge void at the top of the stands before the wall where our Perspex sheeting is on. I don't think the east stand would be as easy to add another tier on, possible yes but not as simple as throw up some stantions behind the existing, then remove the roof. 25 years in the building trade has taught me a bit, not much but a little! Agree with this will be more like the Old Trafford redevelopment will be harder than it looks even if it just is stair wells.
promised land Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Agree with this will be more like the Old Trafford redevelopment will be harder than it looks even if it just is stair wells. OT was also extended over many phases and seasons, still looks lob sided as I don't think the main stand by the railway can go up anymore due to the tracks. As you say it's just concrete pre cast stair pieces and steel but going onto an existing building. It can be done for sure but for a start they could add another thousand or so by putting rows at the front lower than pitch level, think Boleyn ground etc. it still requires a lot of work but a quicker solution, Etihad are doing this as well as adding a third tier on their north and South stands. They have a bigger problem in that the roof and its cables hold the entire grounds roof up.

Jace Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 With Old Trafford it would be possible to extend the South Stand without removing the railway track and building over it for an additional tier I believe they have planned it would be very expensive especially when all the club offices are in the South Stand but then again didn't Man Utd apparently paid £45 million just for the quadrants?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 We'd have to be properly cemented in the top flight for me to back an extension. It'd look fantastic though and a nice step away from the famed flat pack stadium we and many other clubs accommodate
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 It'd be nice if we had some new seats. Didn't realise how faded they've become.
Ashley Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 It'd be nice if we had some new seats. Didn't realise how faded they've become. The effects of Photoshop and changing the hue on pictures. You do realise we've had KING POWER written in out seats now. The 'new seats' would stand out a mile off.

Soar Fox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 The whole stadium could do with a good clean and tidy up. You only have to look at from outside to see how dirty it is.

I've noticed the seats have looked really faded for a while now, but can imagine it's very expensive to replace them all.
Bert Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 The stadium was built in mind with the possibility of it being extended. The plans of how to do it will already be in place.
ousefox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Are people really bothered that the seats are faded? Hopefully when we sell out every week you won't be able to see them anyway.
LCFC Rennie Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Is it just me that thinks if any stand should be extended it should be the Kop. The East stand would look pretty shit imo, whereas a massive Kop would create a great atmosphere and great visuals, it would also make the KP more of an intimidating place to come. Filbert Street was a very intimidating place to come however a 'bowl' shape stadium isn't. If we got the Kop extended it would add such a good atmosphere.

A double deck over the east stand and the kop is what we need. The noise will then go up 10 fold. The reason FS was so noisy was the low roof over the kop keeping the noise in.
AKCJ Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Are people really bothered that the seats are faded? Hopefully when we sell out every week you won't be able to see them anyway. I'm not too fussed. As long as they don't go completely sky blue then I think it looks fine.

I've noticed the seats have looked really faded for a while now, but can imagine it's very expensive to replace them all. I think what Ashley was getting at was that there'd have to be an inclusion of "new" blue seats due to the re-arrangement and change from WALKERS to KINGPOWER, and that they'd stand out more.

I think if we added say another 5 or 6 thousand seats above the east stand we'd struggle to fill it but 3 or 4 above the Kop would be perfect imo. Plus it would be so good to have a double decker south stand again.

No extend the east stand then make J and K block cheaper to encourage all the singers to one section and call that the Kop, this gives our most loyal fans a better view of the pitch. Put all the window lickers on the old Kop

Don't like the idea of having a two tier Kop. If they could add 10/20 rows on the back and at the front 5/6 (as somebody else has already mentioned) a bit like they did it Anfield, I think that could do no end for the atmosphere. Adding a second tier and splitting the fans up would be a burden in my opinion. Keep it one tier, but just expand it for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Burmesefox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Couldn't we look to swap the family stand and the kop around to add a bit more atmosphere?
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Couldn't we look to swap the family stand and the kop around to add a bit more atmosphere? I'm a fan of tradition and traditionally the Kop is to the right of the tunnel and it's at the same end as the old double decker was at filbert street. I don't understand why our atmosphere has to be based around sitting next to, pointing at, chanting and swearing at away fans who couldn't give a sh*t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
