Increase East Stand capacity

That's just not true though is it? Look at the pie and pint offer for £20, 29,000 on a friday night V Bristol, the fans fixtures that had 30,000 v Hull.

Don't forget the difference of the economic climate from then and now, it's a MASSIVE factor.

Depends on who we sign when we're promoted. If folk think we'll be competitive in the top flight, they'll turn out to watch us.

Stoke don't seem to have any problems filling their ground week in, week out and their fanbase is hardly more prosperous than ours right now.

I don't see any logical reason why they would?

If they won't do it now why would they do it with a few extra thousand empty...

Fair point Matt, i am just trying to look on the positive side and see what benefits the increased capacity might bring? Yes if we dont do well / get relegated etc it will be half full etc etc, but and i know its a big but (no fat joke intended) if we get a relatively successful team playing quite well in the Prem i think we will certainly get 30'000 plus on average

Is this a joke?

Have people not noticed we aren't even coming close to selling out at the minute and that isnt going to change premiership or not as people don't have the money that they did ten years ago.

You'll be telling me they are whacking an extension on the Ricoh next.

heard about the Ricoh as well lol

Have a look at Stokes website. You can get tickets widely for £25 or £27, overall the tickets are cheaper than us and they are top half of the premiership. Also, their members get to buy two tickets for £5 at some point of the season.

Just goes to show what can be done.

With the TV money and potential revenue from Asia, there's no reason why we couldn't undertake similar initiatives during the next few years.

Why not do the same now?

We have 8,000 empty sears every game, that's serious potential custom. For supposedly brilliant businessmen they must of noticed this huge flaw and started to think of a few ideas to at least try and rectify it.

Think I would rather keep it at 32,000 and have that full of Leicester fans to be honest, its not all about money for me, I'd rather see an atmosphere like the Forest 3-0 at home than shift in 8,000 neutrals to dilute the atmosphere even further.

But what if we play these teams off the park and the neutrals want to come to see more? Chelski used to have a shite average before they became mega rich.

If we are doing well and beating top teams regularly then we would sell out. If we hover around mid to the lower end of the table in the prem then we would probably struggle to sell out the capacity we have now. I suppose it would be a case of speculating to accumulate.

If the Thais really aspire to be a force in this country then one of the natural next steps would be to increase the ground capacity to in turn increase the overall turnover potential of the club. After all the more successful we are the more exposure King Power will get on a bigger stage.

Lets not run before we can walk, forget extending - there are plenty of problems currently to warrant concentrating on giving a facelift to what we already have as a priority. Be nice not to smell stale piss as soon as you walk through the turnstiles, hot water wouldn't go amiss either.

I'm pretty sure I read an article somewhere (The mercury I think) in which top confirmed there would be sone work done over the summer to spruce the stadium up a bit.

We don't need another tier yet, don't get me wrong It'd look nice, but we need to concentrate on becoming a stable Prem side over the next couple of years, THEN get another tier on the east stand.

There would be nothing worse imo than expanding, getting relegated and having 20,000 empty seats week in, week out ala Middlesbrough.

Given the number of ST sold now, an expansion surely has to be on the cards. Not this summer, obviously, but once we've secured a second season at least in the top flight we'll need those extra seats just to keep all the fans happy.

No point yet, if we stay up next season then possibly.

It would be better to use the money for other things aesthetically pleasing

24k season tickets I can't believe how many fans don't believe we need to expand we could have sold out twice over at home to Doncaster in the Championship it was the same when we played Scunthorpe in league 1, remember the queues for the Watford play offs we should be looking at this now at and least construction would be completed during the season

There's always going to be demand for the big games, doesn't mean we can justify expanding the ground straight the way.

We've only reached 30k a couple of times this season and that's despite being sat at the top of the league for half of it.

Are you sure about selling out twice over for Donny because last Friday you could still get a ticket from the shop with just one stub from a previous game.

If it was that in demand it would have sold out far quicker than the day before the game.

Cardiff's stadium was always designed with the extra tier in mind, they had a huge void at the top of the stands before the wall where our Perspex sheeting is on. I don't think the east stand would be as easy to add another tier on, possible yes but not as simple as throw up some stantions behind the existing, then remove the roof. 25 years in the building trade has taught me a bit, not much but a little!

Yeah Im quite sure unfortunately for those of us who live hundreds of miles away who couldn't go it wasn't quite as simple as walking into the shop the day before with a ticket stub but had tickets been available to us online or over the phone in the month leading up to the game then many more would have attended. What you might not be aware of aswell with supporters who travel long distance to matches say 600+ miles is that many will buy tickets and travel together in groups to make the travelling arrangements cheaper and easier, so what might come across to you is the club can't sell out because they had a few individual tickets remaining may still have meant they could have sold many more if more bulk seats had been available with appropriate notice.

As for the East Stand I would be surprised if it would be any more difficult than the Cardiff Stadium, I know what you mean about the void behind the stands that keeps the roof height at the same level all the way round although Im not sure if that would have made it easier to construct as the framework that is supporting the roof looks like it have needed to be removed. With the steel framework that you get with all new stadiums now it should be easy enough to build on main difference with ours is I would expect the difference in the roof height to be much greater found this picture which shows the framework in a bit more detail
