FuriousFox46 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Is anyone else worried WHEN we achieve promotion after the initial jitters we'll become one of the boring clubs who finish 12th every season. Who wants to be like Blackburn? I just hope the Thai Consortium have enough vision for a European campaign hopefully a little more successful than 00/01. How well can we actually do?
rico Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 i would rather finish 12th in the Prem League every season, than in the Championship
ousefox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I've been thinking this actually, i know it would be great to be in the prem, but i would honestly rather have a bit of excitement than just finish mid-table every year in the prem.
Simmo86 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 and have to pay stupid amounts of money for away tickets!
Salieri Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 For the love of Bamba, can we just concentrate on trying to get promoted first?
kylestyle06 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I can't believe people are saying they'd rather be in the championship, than playing the likes of man utd, Liverpool, arsenal, and finish mid table in the premiership ! What is wrong with you people

LCFCmatt Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I just cant ever picture us in the prem. We will always be a championship team in my eyes unfortunately
Salieri Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I just get the feeling that getting in to the Prem will be better than actually being there . I want excitement for us. Yeah because the years in the Prem under O'Neill were really shite. I just cant ever picture us in the prem. We will always be a championship team in my eyes unfortunately How long have you supported us for? We have been in the top flight quite a bit don't you know.
z-layrex Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 I think just the battle to stay a premiership club would be more than we could ever hope for. A few of you guys need to stop living in the past, we had brief good years under a great manager, but that happens to many clubs. If we go up we are just a medium to large championship club in the prem.
FuriousFox46 Posted 23 January 2011 Author Posted 23 January 2011 Yeah because the years in the Prem under O'Neill were really shite. How long have you supported us for? We have been in the top flight quite a bit don't you know. The Prem has changed a lot since then and just because we go up doesn't mean we're gonna be instantly successful look how quickly we went down after O'Neill left what if the same happens with Sven. I really want to be pushing at the top of the Prem but seriously I don't want us to be a top flight non-entity like Blackburn, Bolton and bloody Everton <_<

B52 Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Relax, Sven wants silverware in England. He is already the only manager to win League and Cup in three different countries. Mourinho is chasing him so he will hit the PL running. Sven lost a few years managing nationals when he could have competed in CL instead. People forget so easily. Does anybody remember why England appointed Sven?
ajthefox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 what are if we are never a blackburn or a bolton though? do you want us to be west brom so we literally come up and go straight back down every blooming year?
Jakemoore Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Can we get in to the play-offs before we discuss this.
FuriousFox46 Posted 23 January 2011 Author Posted 23 January 2011 If theyre non entities what the hell are we . I said Premier League non-entities. They never do anything exciting. They just squat in 13th as they cycle through end upon end of players. I don't want to be a club with a lack of ambition. They may be happy sitting in the top tier and finishing mid-table each year but if we're going up. I want European football
ScouseFox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Everton have finished 4th, had an FA Cup final, been in the CL ( albeit only the qualifiers), UEFA Cup an Europa League, aswell as challenging for Europe an cups on a domestic front. I really wouldn't mind being a non-entity if you get all that in about 10 years. Same with Blackburn and Bolton really, both had European trips and Bolton reaches the CC final a few years back.
ajthefox Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 Can we get in to the play-offs before we discuss this. we need to win away from home before we can even do that.
Jon the Hat Posted 23 January 2011 Posted 23 January 2011 The thrill of visiting some of the best football grounds in the world, top class players like Tevez at the Walkers week in week out, seeing us on MOTD (for 2 mins), the chance of a decent cup run which actually leads somewhere, beating the drop, building a team knowing the first Prem team to come knocking won't get half of them, knowing that our club is being watched in most countries in the world of a weekend, the outside shot of breaking into the Europe league places if it all goes our way.... Yeah, sounds dull as shit to me. You might well be twelve, in which case I apologize, but have you forgotten that Everton qualified for the Champions League a few years ago? And for that matter Blackburn won the league and have been in the Championship in the last 20 years, so not exactly dull mid table drudgery. Bolton are punching above their weight and their fans are no doubt pleased every season to be up in the Prem. It won't last forever, and if you think it is dull sitting in the middle, then you clearly didn't enjoy the mid table finished under O'Neill.
FuriousFox46 Posted 23 January 2011 Author Posted 23 January 2011 Look at Blackpool. We'll see how long that lasts.

I'm aware Blackburn won the PL but I don't remember Everton qualifiying for the prem. They have done well in the past but you know the point I was trying to make. Yes, the Prem is a brilliant oppurtunity for us but I'm not too keen on watching a game and thinking 'Oh we can go up to ninth. Oh no, down to eleventh." Thrilling season - anything could happen

Thrilling season - anything could happen I can assure you that the roar of the crowd and the atmosphere after a goal in the premiership for a mid-table clash will be a lot louder than it is now.
