Jon the Hat Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Liverpool closing in on Adam now.. Blackpool should hold out for around 10 million. Especially if bloody Carroll is worth 35!! Thought it was mad when Villa bought Bent for 24 million, but this is just utterly insane. I have concluded there must be some kind of tax relief for payment made to the North East.
Joe. Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Hope Liverpool get Adam, and I'm glad Dalglish has been given some cash to play around with. My guess is around £8-10 million for Adam.

Most of it's come from Abramovich for Torres. Time and results will tell whether this is a good day's business for him..
Joe. Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Fuck me, looking like £14 million for Adam. Outrageous.
lcfcsnow Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011  35 million  If he was European he'd be worth 6/7 million tops. Pathetic.
ScouseFox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 The more deals that go through this window, the more it appears Villa got themselves one hell of a deal for Bent.
J.Lisemore Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Newcastle must be laughing. £35Million for a player who hasn't even played Champions League football.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 If we don't go up and somebody comes in for Andy King in the summer we should hold out for at least 25mill! Does the inflated price principle hold for Welshmen or do they have to be English?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Does Dalglish think he's playing a computer game or something?! I hope Adam moves for a ridiculous fee, then perhaps he'll be shown up for the pretty average player he is.
ScouseFox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 He's got a song already... "We always knew he'd be a red, Carroll, Carroll, He's got a dirty greasy head, Carroll, Carroll, He hits his bird, he burns his house, but we don't care, that's fooking scouse, Andy Carroll, Liverpool's number 9." Hope he does well there, him and Suarez could be superb. Or shit. Who knows.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 1835: Chelsea and Liverpool have agreed a fee for Fernando Torres and the player is now awaiting a medical, BBC understands.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Hope he does well there, him and Suarez could be superb. Or shit. Who knows. I already absolutely love Suarez. Provided arguably the best moment of the World Cup. Bit of a shame he is going to a club I dislike so much really.
The Doctor Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I already absolutely love Suarez. Provided arguably the best moment of the World Cup. Bit of a shame he is going to a club I dislike so much really. which was? edit: What's all this about burning a torres shirt? and i reckon i could guess why you love Suarez BB.
Corky Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Liverpool fans burning a Torres shirt, Bit sad really.
Super_horns Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Carroll is a good prospect and player but 35 millipn plus is crazy but then if Liverpool have that to spend they will...

iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 What a cracking deadline day! Andy Carroll is one of my favourite players, hefty tag but he'll be a great player for 'Pool. Think he may become a Kop legend. Him along with Suarez & (possibly Anelka) would be quality, better than Torres on his own. However Torres & Drogba, they could be unstoppable. Darren Bent would seem a better buy for me but who am I to question Ancelotti. David Luiz too, quality CB. If Liverpool come out of the window with Suarez, Carroll & Adam and spent relatively little due to the fee recieved for Torres, then they're the big winners for me. Think the deal suits Newcastle too though, could improve in all areas with that money.
Finnegan Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 How are Liverpool big winners? They've lost possibly the best striker in the world and overpaid for a very average midfielder and a very average striker.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 How are Liverpool big winners? They've lost possibly the best striker in the world and overpaid for a very average midfielder and a very average striker. Torres is quality yes, but injury prone. Improved the squad with 3 new aquisitions (Suarez, Carroll & Adam) and paid for them mostly with the Torres cash. They are possibly as bad as they've ever been, so they needed to get some players in. Carrolls twitter 2 hours ago 'Im not going anywhere'
Finnegan Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I wouldn't call Torres injury prone, that sounds like Liverpudlian bitterness to me. He's had an injury problem that they've not really done very well to rehabilitate (not surprising given their reliance on him) but he does't have a track record of missing countless games every year. And they're "as bad as they've ever been" (if they are) because they've been signing shit, mid-table players as if they were super stars. How exactly are they bucking that trend with Adam and Carroll?
Sparky Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 How are Liverpool big winners? Torres wanted out and has been average at best this season, £50 million is a great deal for them. Adam in my opinion will improve Liverpool's midfield , his range of passing is quality. Carroll would have been a good signing for most side's but he has cost £20 million too much and that is their big error !! Don't think Liverpool have done too bad out of it.

Which is why the new management needed to step up, inject a bit of money and make some signings (a la Suarez) to convince him that quality would be coming and he should sit tight. Instead they've just confirmed that they'll have to sell to buy, just as under previous ownership.
