Zingari Posted 1 February 2011 Author Posted 1 February 2011 Just what the world needs, more fear. or truth
Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Doesn't seem to load properly for me, it's constantly refreshing, is it working for you? Perhaps someone has stolen the site from me already. It's jammed up with nosey curtain twitchers like me. I live somewhere described to me by a police constable as a 'high crime area' so naturally I'm quite excited to see what's been going on
Fox You Forest Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 It's jammed up with nosey curtain twitchers like me. I work for NWLDC and as a result know all the tricks of the curtain twitcher, they're always watching looking for something to ring up and complain about.
davieG Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 A new crime-mapping website for England and Wales is experiencing a "temporary problem" as millions of people log on every hour, the Home Office has said. Report - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12336381
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 I like this. It gives criminals a chance to rotate the crops so to speak. No point robbing somewhere that was turned over last week, or mugging in an area that's had the squeeze on it for the past month. It also highlights the areas where a gun is de rigeur and no self-respecting perp would be seen dead (sic) without packing a piece. Thoughtful.
Parafox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Doesn't load for me. Wont load and when i try to close the window it just locks up. Better keep the windows open then..... oh no... burglars... wish I could've known they were in the area
Bellend Sebastian Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 This is working now. It all seems a bit of a waste of time, in that it doesn't seem to tell you anything surprising. If you live in a quiet village in the middle of nowhere, there's virtually no crime, but if you live in or near a city centre it's all kicking off. Just the one violent crime on my street in December, and as I did it* I'm entirely relaxed about the situation *this is not true
Jon the Hat Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Transparency and accountability is the point. It should enable residents to challenge the Police re their response to crime. It might also give a true picture rather than rumour and supposition.
StanSP Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Nothing on my street. Nearest crime falls under 'other crime' category, which does include drug offences. And there have been murmurings that there's a crack-house near where I live. Other than that, pretty safe!
James. Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Haha I live in a fvcking war zone: Street-level crime and ASB in December 2010 All crime and ASB 1764 Burglary 121 Anti-social behaviour 653 Robbery 70 Vehicle crime 82 Violent crime 215 Other crime 623 Only the 1 robbery on my actual road though. Phew.

Jackirius Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Doesn't even have my village let alone my road.
StanSP Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Doesn't even have my village let alone my road. Where do you live?
James. Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 You like The Wire don't you? Well now you're in it I was winning Office Top Trumps by an absolute mile until someone searched their old flat and went through the 2,000 barrier. My vehicle theft number is quite weak but that is more than made up for with an impressive violent crime figure. Pretty proud of that.
Finnegan Posted 3 February 2011 Posted 3 February 2011 Originally I was like "Oh I'd just be paranoid if I looked at that" but having had my house broken in to last night I'm now more fucking willing.
