the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 he wont be a long servier because we not a club what win everything There's always one that has to put a downer on everything!!
Corky Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 I don't know, and we shouldn't be looking to sell him. He can play a large part in our future.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Totally different players. Adam dictates play, whereas King rarely does (today being a rare exception at times). I'd say the Lampard analogy is better, although again he needs to influence larger periods of games to justify that. good point but I'd say he influences games by scoring goals
Nick Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Even if he were for sale, I couldn't imagine anybody coming in and offering more than 8 million for him. I agree he's worth more and more to the club but is unproven at Premiership level and the figures being chucked around in this thread are maybe a tad unrealistic. 20 million - no offers
ajthefox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 some comments in here are just silly imo. For starters, Holloway's valuations were stupid, so basing your own valuation of king on that is effectively validating holloways idiocy. And I'm sure no-one was genuinely comparing King and Carroll so I'll let that slide. For us though, Kingy is invaluable and as the first reply said, his goals, if we do get promoted, will ultimately be what's got us there so make of that what you will. We are now in a position where selling should never be because we need the money. We don't really know the true value of King yet because of where we are, but as it stands, I think the previous mention of about 5 -7 is the most we could expect of a serious but sensible bid. Commons has 13 league goals in comparison but I think anything more for either would be too much, and I think most city fans would probably scoff if someone said Commons sold for that much, even though it's probably a pretty fair comparison to make. Either way, Kingy is much more valuable playing for us then the money, and I not only hope, but genuinely believe he could go on to be a legend for years to come.
Ashley Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Andy King is a great talent and does have a huge potential however he does a lot of drifting in and out of games, he needs to sort this out and his game would be complete. excellent finisher and one of the best in the championship if not the best.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Alan young was comparing him to charlie adam after the game. Although over priced, holloheads wants £10m is it? Holloway valued him at £46mil
lcfcnoely Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 King is a great player but some of the figures that people are throwing around are ridiculous, 30 mil, 50 mil, 90mil! Haha he's a fantastic talent but he's not even starting for wales yet so these figures are laughable.
ajthefox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Holloway valued him at £46mil I'm sure that was a joke based on the worst transfer in history that is Andy Carroll. Give Holloway some credit
anotherharboroughfox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 I'm sure that was a joke based on the worst transfer in history that is Andy Carroll. Give Holloway some credit no, this was at the start of the transfer window, based on how much the club would lose if relegated.
deep blue Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 no, this was at the start of the transfer window, based on how much the club would lose if relegated. His attitude is a big factor in what he has achieved and will go on to achieve. He has humility, genuine enjoyment in playing for his team, and willingness to improve - qualities not always found in modern players. Sure, he seems loved by Sven. But didn't he equally win round Sousa, after not being first choice initially, to the extent that Sousa praised him publicly and made him captain? Some here have made the point that he is as yet unproven at Prem level. That's true, but many were sceptical about the jump from league 1 to Champ, and he managed the transition seamlessly. I have no doubt he'll do the same in the Prem. The quality of his recent goals is breathtaking - clinical and sheer class. It's great to see our own player come up through the ranks and perform so well.
ajthefox Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 no, this was at the start of the transfer window, based on how much the club would lose if relegated. Oh, right, I see what he means in that sense then, but you are probably taking it too literally in that 40 mil or whatever might be how much he is worth to the club in terms of income, but is not actually worth that money to another club. It's like what the first reply of this thread said. If were to win the play-offs this season on the back of 12+ goals from Kingy, he will have brought the club "£90 million" in effect, but that's not a valuation of what he as a player is worth.
Stevosevic Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Best player we have produced since Heskey. Great player, top lad/bloke and you can tell he loves it here, as long as we get to the premiership within the next 18 months, i can see him staying here for most of his career.
Captain... Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Best player we have produced since Heskey. Great player, top lad/bloke and you can tell he loves it here, as long as we get to the premiership within the next 18 months, i can see him staying here for most of his career. We have to stay in the prem though, relegation is normally followed by an exodus of talent. Not always (eg Muzzy, Taggert, Elliot) but usually.
Fox1651 Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 Best player we have produced since Heskey. Great player, top lad/bloke and you can tell he loves it here, as long as we get to the premiership within the next 18 months, i can see him staying here for most of his career. Agreed - think hes priceless to Leicester but in general terms he's worth £12 million in todays market roughly
syston_fox Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 I'd say at present he's worth about £5m but to us he's priceless. Don't forget that he's not been tested at a higher level than the championship yet whereas Adam and Carroll have both proven that they can compete in the premiership. True they might be one season wonders but they have given teams a reason to reach for their cheque books with their performances so far.
syston_fox Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 What price did Villa pay for Delph? The majority of the fee paid was the costs of extracting him from King's pocket after the game in league one.
Ashley Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 I know a few Norwich fans and they think Wesley Hoolahan is better than King and King is a poorer version of Hoolahan.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 as far as we care he's priceless and not for sale no point in trying to value him till he's prem tested
North-LondonFox Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 He seems to be getting better and better for me - the way he times his runs is fantatstic - the sort of thing a player is born with. I'd hate for us to let him go.
Benjaldinho Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 If carroll is worth 35 million then king is worth at least 12 mill :D
martyn Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 £6.5 million is what Hoffenheim paid for a young, Internationally capped goalscoring midfielder plying his trade in the Championship. Something around that would seem about right.
Onions Posted 7 February 2011 Posted 7 February 2011 King can only really be compared to Gylfi Sigurdsson in my opinion. Both young lads, and both (were) in the Championship. Gylfi Sigurdsson had a blinder of a season last season at Reading, a complete machine. They sold him for £6.5m so I would put King around that mark!
