heatherfox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 This is my first post so go easy..... Just wondering what your views are on Andy King. I think he is one of the most exciting young midfielders in the country at the moment. 13 goals from midfield this season to add to the 11 he got in the previous two - i reckon that's pretty dammed good from a lad who's only 22 - next Frank Lampard?
Guest Bilo Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Potentially £90 million. He could be the difference between promotion and consolidation.
LCFClukeLCFC Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 defo going in that direction could be the next star or the next lampard/gerrard i think hes more than capable
MattyFromLE Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 I agree. He's got so much potential, i really hope he turns out like one of the long serving players like Neville, Gigs, Scholes etc, and i hope the club don't see the pound signs and sell up - that'd be criminal.
shailen Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 defo going in that direction could be the next star or the next lampard/gerrard i think hes more than capable He plays the same way as lampard. Hes always there when we need him, in the right positions. If he is half as good as lampard which it is, weve got a world class player on our hands
Kitchandro Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 If Carroll is worth £35 million then King's worth £40 million We need to hang on to him for as long as possible. As someone else has said he could be the next Izzet kind of figure. I hope in 10 years we can say Andy King is an all time Leicester legend
jonthefox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Alan young was comparing him to charlie adam after the game. Although over priced, holloheads wants £10m is it?
Guest ttfn Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Alan young was comparing him to charlie adam after the game. Although over priced, holloheads wants £10m is it? Totally different players. Adam dictates play, whereas King rarely does (today being a rare exception at times). I'd say the Lampard analogy is better, although again he needs to influence larger periods of games to justify that.
fleckneymike Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 We have to get promoted to stand any chance of keeping him here long term. The new contract is merely a way of ensuring a big transfer fee.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 He's just priceless. Top player and such a nice lad as well. I would be absolutely heartbroken to see him go anywhere but I get the impression that he likes it here and is aware that he can't take his form for granted. Why move and risk not being such an integral part of his new team as he is here? Sven has obviously recognised how good he is and how much potential he has. When you hear him talk about King you can literally feel the love and admiration he has for him. He wont be going anywhere while Sven is in charge that's for sure. Making Kingy captain was obviously part of a longer term strategy to cement his affection for the club and make him feel like he belongs here.
ScouseFox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 He's decent like. But not good enough for Wales

If I had one criticism (and I'm being a bit picky here) then he can go 'missing' for a bit of the game. Having said that, what price can you put on his goals, he seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time on a regular basis. His first goal today was brilliant!

The best description I can give of him is a little bit zen. He tackles without tackling, his positioning is such that he removes the option of a pass for the opposing team, often this gets overlooked and he gets accused of going missing, he doesn't, he simply stands in a position which means the ball doesn't come near him because he's blocked off the angle for the pass. He has undoubtedly benefited from Abe doing the blocking job which means he can operate further up field. The best player I've seen down the City in years, potentially one of the best.
Dilkes Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 We'll be in the prem next year So we wont be selling him, but if we did I'd want atleast 40m
Babylon Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 One of the best finishers I have ever seen in the game, he's really that good in front of goal., I'd back him to score with a half chance every time. Would love him to dominate more, but scoring as often as he does is priceless.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 defenders are focusing more on yakubu now leaving more space for king can be unrecognisable all game then pop up with the winner and thats why hes so important to the team, 13 goals in all compititions from a 22 year old center midfielder is quality
Liamlcfc1 Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 If Olly thinks Adam is worth £20m King has got to be worth £50m scores more goals
Haydos Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 If Olly thinks Adam is worth £20m King has got to be worth £50m scores more goals Nice job. Your crazy view of what constitutes value aside, Adam scored 18 goals last season with 8 assists.
CKB Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Potentially £90 million. He could be the difference between promotion and consolidation. NEVER!!! at least 91!!
fox123 Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Potentially £90 million. He could be the difference between promotion and consolidation. Knee-jerk post to get reputation marks!
Captain... Posted 6 February 2011 Posted 6 February 2011 Carroll went for 35million and he only got 17 last year in the championship. So at least that... I think that the only way King is leaving us is if we get promoted then relegated. In that scenario we would have seen King play in the premiership and we will have a better idea of his value. He has been a great player in the championship but he is unproven at premiership level, his tendency to disappear during games may make him more of a liability at a higher level. If he signed for another club they may not be as forgiving and he may get dropped after a few of those games. Basically he is best off where he is now and we are better off with him. If I had to put a price tag on him now, bearing in mind he has 4 years left on his contract, I would say 5-7million, but lets hope we never find out.
