JamesLCFC Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Watched the game, mee actually played very well untill that moment and it was dissapointing he conceded that, otherwise i think he might of been in contention for the denmark squad after todays performance, naughton played well too!
lcfcsnow Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I saw the whole match, he played very well overall. England should have been 3/4 up before the pen.

Ricey Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I noticed on Sat that he jumps into challenges rather rashly, sometimes it pays off but there's always the risk of giving something away.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I know he's good in the air but he gets caught underneath the ball too often for my liking. Better positioning and anticipation will come with experience though I suppose.
Wymsey Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Hopefully Mee now knows that he certainly needs to practice on tackling inside the penalty box more effectively now.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Thought he played pretty well overall. Naughton had a good game as well, especially considering he only flew over to Italy last minute.
ajthefox Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Inexperience and nerves I suppose, nothing to worry too much about unless it keeps happening.

Naughton had a good game as well, especially considering he only flew over to Italy last minute. Watched the whole game, thought he played decent rather than very well. He started alongside Jack Rodwell as a very new and somewhat makedo back 4 whch was further disrupted when Jack Cork replaced Rodwell barely 15 minutes in, despite this an exuberent but young Italian were largely shut out. We dominated long periods of the game but lacked a real creative presence in central midfield, Lansbury and McEachran both looked ok but neither could really take control. Allbrighton was our biggest threat down the right but Delfounso on the left and Vaughan down the middle were both unimpressive. The game opened up somewhat after multiple substitutions on the hour mark and Jay Rodriguez and later Scott Sinclair spurned Englands best chances of the half. Mee was turned in a challenge about 25 yards out but his recovery tackle was from the wrong side and a bit desperate. Clear penalty though the red card was maybe a bit harsh, it was hardly dangerous and Gianetti had plenty to do to score.
purpleronnie Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Sad to hear but on the other hand I did have italy U21's and Germany U19's win double so I'm a little pleased.
Corky Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 His tackling style will always bring risks, going in hard could lead to a mis-timed challenge which gives away a penalty or a red card.
