Finnegan Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Given everyone spent the last decade pretending the 80s wasn't just tacky, neon shit and glorifying it because it was the decade of their youth (or pretending they were a part of it because they were born then,) can I finally start missing the 90s? 90s pride, in vogue, as of now. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! The Simpsons was still good, Mars Bars cost 30p, Eurotrance was 'cool' (honest), Will Smith was still funny, the Mullet had mostly fucked off, Brit Pop was brilliant and EVERYWHERE sold out of Tracy Island so you made your own from papier mache!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 90s is my favourite decade, even though I was out of my teens and in to my twenties by then. I've never understood why people clamour after the years when they were a teen - chance are you were easily led (though never admitting to it), knew everything (despite very little life experience) and thought that everything should be given to you on a plate. And therefore were immensely annoying - like I was.
StanSP Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Sensible Soccer. Live & Kicking. First trip to Wembley. Subbuteo. I know the last 1 still can be played now, but it's what I grew up with and it was fucking awesome. They're just some of the stuff that got me through the 90s though. More will come to mind!

You don't like Mullet's??? Oh and my mum managed to get me a Tracy Island. Found it on Christmas morning complete with a Rudolph paw print on the wrapping
Matt Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Yeah i've felt like this for a while. Love the 90's, can't say i'm to fond of the 80's personally (Because I have the very same thoughts about it as you have described in your post), and don't quite get the 80's love-in that many people (Even younger than me, bearing in mind I was born with 2 years left of the 80's) go mad about, but then again I feel the same way about the 90's so can understand it in comparison I suppose. Good music, Great era for my football club, Growing up, Good and Bad (Very bad - Only thing that lets the decade down really) memories I've been listening to Absolute 90's recently, love that station, there is some shit played on there but you get that with any radio station. Infact and i've had this thought for a few years they should start remaking thos horrible, cringeworthy Reflex/80's bars into decent 90's bars.
Finnegan Posted 9 February 2011 Author Posted 9 February 2011 I didn't realise anyone liked the 80s. Loads of people my age rave on about the eighties. I was born in 86, I don't even fucking remember it! I had a home made Tracy Island. Oh and Sensible Soccer is a brilliant shout! What a game! I remember a friend of mine's dad was an IT technician, he had like four PCs in his living room. We went round once and had a Sensible Soccer tournament for his birthday. Fantastic.

I never had it at home, so whenever we went to my cousins house (more regularly back then than now) it was straight on to SS!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 Loads of people my age rave on about the eighties. I was born in 86, I don't even fooking remember it! How could you at that age? I was born at the end of '87 and I've always said to my mum that the occasion of my birth was pretty much the only good thing that happened in that decade. Tongue in cheek of course. The music was dreadful, people had no style whatsoever and worst of all it was no longer the 60s or 70s. I would have been gutted to be a teenager in the 80s. Well resentful of those who had been born ten years earlier.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 sorry! To be honest though its like TLB says. Teenage years are no way the best of your life anyway. Mine were alright but looking back I was definitely a bt of a nob. Plus you lack any real independence. I am definitely hoping that the next few years will be better than my teens. Growing up seems to hold the promise of certain advantages. Please don't tell me I am going to be disappointed!
StanSP Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 I'm still finding it hard to believe that BlueBrett is 3 years older than me.
MikeyT Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 I was born bang on 1980 and can remember most of it, if not the the first maybe 4 years. . But i have older sisters who were teens in the 80's so i was subjected to alot of that stuff which i still love today. Obviously i was a teen of the 90's but pretty much hated the 90's. Thought it was crap, especially for music with all the european trance and dance music tosh. There were a few good bands about but for the most part i loathed it. Plus i was in high school then as well, and i loathed school as well. All in all, the 90's can kiss my rosy red ass.

I look pretty young still which may have someting to do wth it. Now that you have recognised my seniority I expect you to show me the appropriate level of respect

Corky Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 I loved the 90's. When I first got into football, Leicester were doing well and we had all the sticker albums as well
Libertine Posted 9 February 2011 Posted 9 February 2011 K'nex is just Lego for nerds. Or Meccano for simpletons.
