Dieting

So basically, I've put on a load of weight in the last few months since I stopped going to the gym. I never really used to bother with diets, but since my weight gain I want to find a good diet to use to help me lose weight as well as going to the gym. Does anyone with previous experience in this know any good plans that I could use? Thanks for the help in advance.

its all about calorie deficit

need to work out your maintenance calories required and have 500 less per day..

plenty online calculators will give you the figures..

then you can plan your meals..

fitday.com helps track it all

If you go to the gym regularly you wont really need to diet, just eat sensibly.

I'm mainly asking for that time when I run out of funds (which I will do) to make sure I don't put a shit load on again.

When people go on a diet don't they just start eating healthily? Fruit, veg, water, exercise will see you good. And maybe one dollup less of gravey on the pie, or an extra spoonful of peas or something.

Cut out carbs: bread, white pasta, spaghetti etc. will make a big diff

Doesn't really make a difference if he's going to the gym.

Calorie deficit, no snacks (biscuits/crisps etc), bit of fruit and veg and nothing packed with fat.

Dont cut out carbs, your body does need them. Reduce your carb intake replacing with protein and fibre.

If you want to loose weight, in particular body fat its all about fasted cardio. Slow pace jogging for 45 minutes before your breakfast 3 - 4 times a week will work out a treat. When the weightloss stops increase the times you do the fasted cardio.

Muscle means less fat so dont be affraid to hit the weights. A larger muscle mass increases the calorie consumption rate.

I would personally reccomend uk muscle. Its a great friendly forum with lotsa advice on anything to fo with weight.

Hope this helps.

Of course it will? If he burns off 400 cals in a workout and then has 4 sandwiches and pasta it's going to take way longer to burn off the fat. I agree to just have a 500 cal deficite but get those cals from protein mainly if possible and eat loads of veg etc.

A bit of everything in moderation and some regular exercise.

Fook your expensive dieticians, it really is that simple.

depends on the person, for most people that would maintain a weight, if someone is trying to lose weight though then they might need to do more than just eat sensibly and do a bit of regular exercise.

Vegetables and protein, wheat/potato etc usually good post workout but wouldnt advice stuff like sandwhiches in the day if you want to lose weight. I lost quite a lot of weight (bout a kilo a week for 2 months) just exercising (mma club) and high protein and vegetable diet. Kept my carbs under 50grams a day from wheat etc. Vegetable and fruit carbs are ok but stuff like wheat and potatoes you have to watch out for (in my experience anyway)
