Derby v Leicester - Post Match Thread

It's just an observation. Sven seems desperate to replace Weale and none of the ones he's brought in have looked any good.

And rightly so! The way we play the defence needs a keeper behind them who can organise the defence, Weale is the quietest keeper around - doesn't help when playing a high line. He might not cut it - being a continental keeper, but I'd rather have a confident keeper at the back.

couple of quotes from their forum:

They are just a different level to us, they have a team of good footballers we have a load of runners who are just doing what the manger wants hucking it aimlessly into the corners. I bet there fans are gutted that they are spending loads and worried about there clubs future.

I'm so jealous..

Leicester are ripping us apart.. Yes they've had money to spend, but they have a manager who has a good scouting network and players who want to play for them..

Their football is great to watch, pass and move.. We played like that once under George Burley and for 2 months under NC.. Then he changed it all..

Two great halves, especially when Derby came out in the second 45 playing for their lives, or at least their manager's life. City players truly seem to be enjoying themselves

Keep this up and someone in the top 6 will crack

The defence organised themselves today, anytime Ricardo got involved he nearly cocked it up.

So he passed it five yards when the nearest Derby player was 30 yards away, so what? You're telling me Weale can't do that?

great game, not sure its fair to say we were bad in the 2nd half though- why tire ourselves out for the whole 90 mins if we dont need to? Sheep never looked like scoring.

as a side note, wish they hadnt have kept showing close ups of bamba's head, put me right off my meatballs for tea. yuck! fair play to him for getting straight back in there and even heading the ball at one point. that's what we need- team spirit and grafting.

anyone else seeing shades of the MON era or is it too early to say that?

You know your team is playing well and you are proud of them when you want the next game to come immediatly after the other. Can't wait for the next game.

(But have a sense of fear aswell, Feared this game if i'm honest)

Ok goalkeeper perhaps less than convincing but better debut than Kirkland , clean sheet , now positive goal difference , let's not be harsh just yet

First half was absolutely incredible, we dominated and had two good chances, both we took. Great finishes from King and the Yak. The second half was completely different but like many have said, we've showed that we can attack and defend brilliantly. I'm vey happy, on a run and on our way in to the play-off shake up. Come on Leicester!! :)

Oh ^ Ricardo was shocking, bring Weale back, the likes of Cardiff and Norwich would have punished his mistakes I'm sure.

First half saw some of the best football I've seen since the MON years and the build up to King's goal was nothing short of pornographic, the kind of football that should come with a £9.99 a month subscription fee and an X certificate.

Second half was less convincing but workmanlike, solid and professional with Derby limited to frankly very little but by then the job was done. A few more wins like this and we'll be troubling the play-offs again with nobody in there really fancying a tie with us.

Superb to see us dominate like that away from home, albeit against a desperately poor Derby side haemorraging confidence.

Anyone else think that Ricardo looked shit?

Very good win on the whole though and we've kept pace with the teams above us who all, unfortunately, won.

First match Mee looked scrap too

Weale was obviously hard done by, but Ricardo looked quality.

He was confident, his distribution was second to none and he has that cocky nature which separates a good goalkeeper from the rest.

Can definitely tell he's experienced and played at the highest level. And his commanding of the back line was refreshing to see.

What seperates a good goalkeeper from the rest is being solid. He did anything but instill confidence in the back four. He cocked up every clearance and couldn't deal with any crosses.

Buffon was not the greatest goalkeeper in the wrold because he was cocky. He was the greatest goalkeeper in the wrold because he very rarely made errors and he pulled off great saves.

just for you x

I'm not quite sure what game you were watching?

This is embarrassing, its so easy for them. 2 0, there keeper is better on the ball than our players. Clough looks deflated, I never thought I would say this but I could see him quitting. I don't think he knows what else to do. I don't like him but him but feel sorry for him.

Yes he had one flap but apart from that he was excellent on the ball.

World class

So was Ricardo's shaky performance anything to do with him in the air? Which is a known weakness for him. Very surprised he was playing especially after how well weales been playing.

I'm actually not sure if you're joking now

All is good. We can attack; we can defend. That Sol played on is extraordinary!

Ricardo had me worried, typical continental punching style even when the catch is fairly easy. Interestingly in RL interview Sven said he wanted to try the new goalkeeper when his Weale was on form instead of waiting for him to make a mistake and dropping him - which makes sense to me. Also, we haven't a clue how good his shot stopping is cos they never got one on target.

***STOP PRESS*** Ricardo sounds like a 13 year old whose voice is breaking! :o
