shailen Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Just want to add that we were only playing Derby, a team on a real slump right now. We were quality though, first half performance and control of the game was immense but, gotta keep it in perspective. I have to say that the support yesterday was superb from start to finish. Song after song from the city faithful. Svens put pride back into the side again. Onwards and upwards. Yeah our last 4 games have been against teams we should be beating and are near the bottom.of the table, but the difference is we are actually winning these games. Take start of the season where we played boro and coventry, completely outplayed them and drew both games. This is the difference between sousa and sven. We are getting results!
CosbehFox Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Yes this is the sort of football that Sousa tried to play. But only 2 players in the side today, were in the starting team on opening day. Oakley and King. Sven realised that he rest of the team needed changing to be able to play this type of football. Sven knows that to play a decent style of football you need to be fit. How many times under Sousa did it look like we were playing 5-0-5 as a formation? As the four defenders and defensive midfielder stayed back knowing they'll could get back for counter attacks and the other five couldn't go up and down either. There's a clear gameplan with us atm and everyone knows their roles, it's brilliant to watch. In fact, in my near twenty years of support I don't think I have ever seen a Leicester so good at knocking it around on the floor. I am not saying it's the best Leicester or anything, the best footballing.
hackneyfox Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Definitely wasn't that good, we were playing keep ball for a while without really doing much. Plus how you can quantify a statement like that when you won't have seen like 80% of the championship matches is just abserd. It's probably the best 45 minutes of football by Leicester in 30 years or more. So it's fairly reasonable to claim it to be the best by any team this season, in this division.
Swalker Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Great game, great result and everything. We seem to keep winning our games like this in 1st gear. We're doing it at such ease. But what made me laugh was Sky's interview- "Sven was this the best half of football you have seen at Leicester?" Well people would know that we play like this week in week out if they weren't constantly focused on QPR and Forest in the championship. Also did anybody else see Savage after the game? Full respect to him after all of the abuse from the Leicester fans which he knew he would get he still clapped all of the Leicester fans and on twitter said how good Leicester were. I know not everybody will agree with me on this but he is the typical pantomime villain he's the guy Leicester fans love to hate. Great guy though through all the stick he gets
Raj Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Some of the football that was played was awesome. Goals were both top drawer.
Zingari Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 as the old cliche goes , this really was a game of two halves
davieG Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Derby based report, quite amusing and self deprecating. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/derbycounty/fb_news.php?storyid=11377
Fox You Forest Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Derby kicked off defending the North Stand goal. This term is used advisedly because if we were to say that they attacked the South Stand goal, we could be done under the Trades Descriptions Act. !

topharry123 Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 as the old cliche goes , this really was a game of two halves In a way yes. Our attack dominated the first half, and our defence dominated the second half. We never looked like we were going to concede, and i'm struggling to remember ricardo having to make a real save. Very fluent and if we play this way every game we will win out. Sven has really brought in some excellent players, the Yak of course scored what would be the best goal in the country on most days (Damn Rooney had to take that one away !!), Van Aanholt looked very pacy down the wing and really does look liike he could live up to ashley cole potential sooner rather than later. Vassell didn't do anything epscial but i can't remember him giving the ball away and put in another solid performance. The only slight downside was Ricardo looked a little shakey, hopefully that will prove to be nerves,
Greg2607 Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Just watched the game again this morning and i can honestly say re/ people who are comparing it to a premiership performance some of the movement (especially for 2nd goal) was more like Barcelona standard than prem! It was beautiful to watch i'm so proud to be a City fan absolutely buzzing, The other thing i'd like to point out is i have next to no idea who i would start if all players were fit, still rate Hobbs and Tunny, Vitor and Bruno was playing well recently (and i'm not his biggest fan) in midfield Abe, Wellens, Moussa, all have pedigree, and upfront well, the list is endless. This shows a great strength in depth and if we can play like that against a 'competitive' (ish) Derby with Oakley in our side just imagine what we could do with out him!! happy days, chuffed to bits, bring on the Bristol!!!
gosfox Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Watched the match on the box, and had to laugh when one of the commentators said " whats up with the city keeper.....has he got blisters on his hands!"
FoxyPV Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 His [Ricardo] only contributions were a couple of punches on the rare occasion that a Ben Davies cross ever made it beyond the towering presence of Sol Bamba, and repeated demonstrations of how to put your own defence under unnecessary pressure from the 'Stephen Bywater Book of Kicking'.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 February 2011 Posted 14 February 2011 Derby based report, quite amusing and self deprecating. http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footbayll/derbycounty/fb_news.php?storyid=11377 Anyone who slips the word "ambergris" into their work is alright by me
