Derby v Leicester - Post Match Thread

It's just an observation. Sven seems desperate to replace Weale and none of the ones he's brought in have looked any good.

The thing is I've seen Ricardo play plenty of times and he's always been like that, unlike Van Aanholt and Mee.

may i ask are you female????? you bitch more than the wife

Superb. Want to give credit to Matt Oakley, thought he was excellent. Positional sense was top class and used the ball well. Abe is good but Oakley stays in his position much better.

Mee, Van Aanholt, Bamba class. Gallagher used the ball really well.

I'm not quite sure what game you were watching?

Yes he had one flap but apart from that he was excellent on the ball.

World class

he missed kicked the ball out quite a few times..

obviousy time will tell how good he can be and seems sven has made his mind up about weale long time ago so just have to go with it..

If we were any more laid back in the first half we'd have been lying down. And to be fair, we probably could have beaten that crock of shit blind, deaf and dumb in that opening 45 minutes. Two lovely goals, the first proving exactly why Yakubu is Premier League quality and the second proving just why King will be at some point. The boy is priceless, you just know he's going to stick it away when he gets the chance.

Slightly disappointing we didn't crack on second half, but all in all we looked solid throughout and didn't look much like conceding.

Got to say I'm worried about Ricardo though. Flapped, didn't come off his line when he needed to and generally looked a little shaky. Hoping he just needs a bit of time to settle in - after all he was an international goalkeeper for one of the better teams in Europe not so long back.

Weale was obviously hard done by, but Ricardo looked quality.

He was confident, his distribution was second to none and he has that cocky nature which separates a good goalkeeper from the rest.

Can definitely tell he's experienced and played at the highest level. And his commanding of the back line was refreshing to see.

YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WATCHING A DIFFERENT GAME!!!!!

That keeper "Ricardo" has not played a league game for (2 YEARS!!) and it showed!!

he punched when Weale would of caught, and refused to use his hands on several occasions.

He was not forced into catching the ball until the 86min of the match (and dropped the ball)

I can clearly see that there is a handling mistake just waiting to happen with this guy, that is nailed on 100%.

Why the fvck have we dropped Weale after some outstanding performances ???

I feel an," I told you so" post coming on in the next few games.............dry.png

Ricardo WILL drop us in the shite for sure!!!................................

I thought Mee was fantastic today.

Great win lads !! Great team performance showing all our quality in both aspects of the game.

Matt Oakley and Ben Mee - Superb !

Another three points on Friday then the real test's begin, interesting times ahead.

Proud to be a fox :)

I think we have to assume Edmund's joking.

Ricardo looked like his distribution could be good given practice in game time, but on at least 3 occasions today he completely shanked it.

I said at the time of the signing I didn't believe it was a good one simply for the fact he has a rep for being poor in the air. The fact our league is quite direct and if the teams suspect a weakness no doubt they'll try and exploit it. You mentioned he punched when he could have caught, I would get used to it, its the continental way. I'd be more confident if weale was in goal. Hopefully ricardo will prove us wrong.

Brilliant result for us. Fantastic in the first half, totally dominated and were well worth the 2 goal lead.

Second half- people might say we were poorer, but with a 2 goal lead Derby have to force the issue on us, so we don't need to play as well as 1st half- would've been nice yes, but still gained the 3 points. The Yak's goal was brilliant- premiership class. And King's finish was class too, he's class.

Imo, Ricardo looked very shakey with his 'punching' etc, but we still got the clean sheet so alls well. Would like to see Weale back in though.

Unbeaten in 7 league games now, winning 6- on great form, and we HAVE TO keep it up. Bristol City at home on Friday is another 'must win' game, hopefully we do the job professionally and don't slack. Anything less than a win then will cancel out our hard work today.

Well said - Come on the City!!!! Brilliant double over the sheep :scarf:

Yakubu's goal was premier league class, still can't actually believe he's playing for us. The same goes for Sven, it doesn't seem real seeing him on the touchline coaching OUR team.

Was so pleased with the 1st half today great passing one touch stuff. people moamed when Berner was replaced but Van Arnolt was great and you can see what Sven and Derek are trying to do they need pacy full backs, but love Bruno and he will still play his part.

Wellens and King were awesome and I hope Yuki Abe comes back in although Oakley did well today. Think Sol Bamba is a fantastic but and him and Ben Mee showed what real men do when injured, Legends.

Happy about the three points, even more so against Derby. 7th in the league after 31 games played. Not too shabby with the rocky start earlier this season!

First half we looked two classes better than them, the positioning and the ball movement was almost unreal.

Dominating a dire home side, who played for the counter attack straight from kick-off, from start to finish.

Yakubu's ball control to give us the lead - one of the most beautiful touches/goals I've seen for a long time.

Say what you want about his fitness levels and the sometimes apparent disinterest/laziness on the pitch, he scores when it matters.

And the build-up to the second goal - world-class. Outstanding. Felt like watching the Championship's Barcelona FC!appl.gif

Gallagher could've scored one goal just after Yakubu did - his shot went to Bywater's right, though.

Communication needs to improve. I thought Ricardo, even with the benefit of the doubt of playing his first game ever for us and the first game ever for an English team, as well as Bamba and Mee need to talk (to each other) more openly.

That massive clash between the latter two was all down to a lack of response - there was no need to bump into each other that hard. Very clumsy.

Having said that, another clean sheet on the deck and that with three (in the final stages even four) loanees in the back - excluding the new, experienced Portuguese goalkeeper, who I think will settle in well and be a welcome addition in terms of depth of squad.

Quite an achievement, really.

To me, Ben Mee stands out as MOTM.

He played his heart out and this despite being hit hard numerous times, either by some dirty Ram or by clashing with a Derby player's head accidentally.

He also took the heavy knock from Bamba rather well, really. A rock-solid performance, literally.

We're flying high, deservedly so and are gaining a much-needed momentum facing the last third of the season. Wellens has earned the captain's armband, he's becoming better and better as the season progresses.

And even Gallagher, whom I've criticised a lot in the past, does no longer shy away from headers!

There's a sense of unity, a willingness to stand up for each other. Phenomenal. Reminds me of the closing stages last season under Pearson. We just won't give in.

BUT... It will be interesting to see how well we can cope with some of the "better" teams in this division, when we match up against Cardiff, QPR and Fç*çst away later on.

Bristol City on Friday, however - fear the Leicester!!!

I've been watching Leicester for over 30 years and I've never seen a better Leicester goal than Yakubu's. Abso-flippin brilliant.

Just wanted to say how Happy I am to be a Leicester city supporter right now,so so glad we've changed our ways since the start of the season.the type of football we are playing now is so refreshing to watch!long may it continue!big up Sven n the boys!!lcfc forever

We were playing this sort of football under Sousa, or at least we were trying to. Everything seems to have clicked now though, long may it continue.

Thought Mee was fooking fantastic. Considering he's only playing like his 5th? professional game for a loanee club. Put his body on the line and defends like it actually means something to him and the team. Well deserved MotM.

Forgetting the disappointment of our second half negativity there were so many positives tonight - and I wonder if we're ever going to score an ordinary goal again!.

Today's two specials were right up there with the four we scored against Barnsley and were features in a half in which we looked as good as any team I've seen in City shirts.

Our fast passing and movement tore Derby to shreds at times and was a treat to watch,

Yakubu is paid to score and make goals and his opener was individualism at its very best. Chest control, tee up with his knee and inch-perfect volley into the roof of the night and all while under severe pressure and with so little space. yes, he did other things too but the goal was why we bought the bloke and he's having quite an impact in terms of goals and contributions to goals.

King's goal which followed was just as brilliant but was in complete contrast and the result of teamwork at its very best. Three or four passes right through the team, angled run by King, perfect feed and the clinical finish which every fan has come to expect from the youngster. I honestly thought "goal" from the moment King started his run because Derby were left completely exposed.

And yet, for all our first half excellence, it was defenders who mostly took the honours in the end. TYo prevent any home team from having a serious shot on target is an outstanding achievement at any level let alone when it's Championship level professionals. Sure they applied some presure second half but I cannot remember them really creating any holes in our defence at any time.

Bamba and Mee were outstanding but I thought our closing down was generally keen and organised, we allowed very few free crosses and had people prepared to get hurt to save a situation.

I honestly thought we might embarrass Derby second half. But instead we just retreated to the middle of our half and invited Derby to have a go at us. Where passing had been our strength we hooved and not very purposefully either because we had no runners and no-one with the slightest ambition to get forward. It was 45 minutes of cynical, modern, money-driven football.

I'll never applaud it but at least we did it effectively and the three points which maintained our unbeaten record for 2011 lifted us to another new peak for the season.

It was the result I predicted but still not the overall performance I know we're capable of. Cos one day soon, we're going to give someone such a beating.
