Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Great professional performance. Killed the game in the 1st half. Never looked like scoring in the second but who cares? Great win, and another 3 points on the road to the PO's.
Bryn Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Thracian must have creamed in the first half. One touch, pass and move, probe, patience, change of pace, it was superb attacking football. Second half, not so good, but the game was locked down. Nevertheless, and I hate to be negative, but there were some errors in our play tonight, and I think a better team would have claimed at least a draw from some of our errors... that said, we'd probably have maintained higher standards in the second half against a better team. Mee looked superb, positionally very sound, and hugely determined. As soon as he starts playing his small stature vanishes. van Aanholt is going to be a big player for the rest of the season. Oakley was very solid, but I think Abe's extra energy will be useful against better midfields. Still, I'm pleased he still has a role. I would like to see him end his career here, on a creditable note, Howard too, I think it's a shame that players of his age get dumped out before they can bow out gracefully. Gallagher, two assists and a lot more beside, great game, and King and the Yak took their goals so well. On the downside... I thought Naughton struggled a bit by his high standards when Derby upped the intensity. I also think Vassell could contribute more. But staggeringly for a side that kept a clean sheet, I thought Ricardo was atrocious. To manage to appear so poor with so little to do is quite remarkable, so unwilling to use his gloves, so poor in the air. If he continues in that vein, he will cost us points, and I think Weale was very hard done by to be dropped in the first place. Still, onwards we march.
ibbosuk Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 I've been watching Leicester for over 30 years and I've never seen a better Leicester goal than Yakubu's. Abso-flippin brilliant. Keith Wellers goal in the cup at Luton, many moons ago, is the best for me in the last 30 years. Malcolm Allison went into the Leicester City dressing room that day and said it was the best footballing display he had ever seen from a team.... Yak's goal was fantastic though...
Edmund Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 I've been watching Leicester for over 30 years and I've never seen a better Leicester goal than Yakubu's. Abso-flippin brilliant. Better than Stan Collymore's volley against Sunderland?
Kitchandro Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Keith Wellers goal in the cup at Luton, many moons ago, is the best for me in the last 30 years. Malcolm Allison went into the Leicester City dressing room that day and said it was the best footballing display he had ever seen from a team.... Yak's goal was fantastic though... Great goal but I believe that was 37 years ago! There's also Izzet's v Grimsby, Nalis's v Leeds. It's all personal opinion of course, but the goal tonight was up there. Still though, is it the best this season?
Simmo86 Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Just watching the game now. Cracking first half. We're on another level to them! Both goals Mee has been a rock and PVA also gets a mention. Not to sure about Oakley though, better than normal but still shite on the ball sometimes. Edited to say.......the away support was fooking fantastic!! Hats off to all of you!!!
whitlock Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Gudjohonson from the half way line was pretty special.
STUHILL Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Great performance tonight. Two more excellent goals of real quality. Mee was my MOM again! A real committed defender who is also skilful on the ball. I hope people who so harshly judged him after his debut will give players more than one game before they judge them next time! First half was a joy to watch. Van Aarnolt, another player who was criticised for taking Berner's place was awesome! I can see much more to come from him also. Bamba was exceptional again, and what a steal at 250k. Looking good enough to make the step-up to the Prem which neither Hobbs or Morrison have yet. Oakley played ok, his experience definitely helps us and I think another one who could prove a few people wrong on here. Ppl make out he's the worse player at the club sometimes. Second half was a disappointment. I would have liked to see us push for more goals and show a hunger to show no mercy to Derby but I can't complain with a professional defensive display. Shame the teams above us got last minute winners today but all we can do is keep winning and a couple of those teams will have bad runs at some point and we are well poised to take that chance to move in to the play-offs. The team, defensively and in attack fill me which such confidence at the moment. I really thought we won this match in 3rd or 4th gear today and could step it up whenever we had to. Roll on Bristol City and then the promotion rivals!! Quick word on Derby..... Terrible! Never looked liked scoring and I couldn't work out what their tactics were. Clough is on borrowed time. At least Sheff Utd worked hard and played the long-ball well.
easilee Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Super Stevie's 'shinner'. Gives me the shivers every time.
hackneyfox Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 YOU MUST HAVE BEEN WATCHING A DIFFERENT GAME!!!!! That keeper "Ricardo" has not played a league game for (2 YEARS!!) and it showed!! he punched when Weale would of caught, and refused to use his hands on several occasions. He was not forced into catching the ball until the 86min of the match (and dropped the ball) I can clearly see that there is a handling mistake just waiting to happen with this guy, that is nailed on 100%. Why the fvck have we dropped Weale after some outstanding performances ??? I feel an," I told you so" post coming on in the next few games............. Ricardo WILL drop us in the shite for sure!!!................................ I thought Mee was fantastic today. So will Weale, it's just a matter od who lets in less and who talks to the defence the most. Let's give him a chance'
STUHILL Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 So will Weale, it's just a matter od who lets in less and who talks to the defence the most. Let's give him a chance' It's the same with Mee, Van Aarnolt etc. People are too quick to judge, whereas Sven has hardly put a foot wrong with his decisions so far, so I find it hard how they can question him. Wasn't the greatest of debuts but neither was Mee's and now he is picking up MOMs!! Not saying Ricardo is a better choice than Weale but Sven obviously thought so today and lets at least give him time to prove why.
Edmund Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 I wonder if Weales blunder at Pride Park last season was part of Svens decision. Although I'm a big fan of Ricardos arrogant goalkeeping style, Weale was definitely hard done by, especially after a game saving performance against Sheffield United.
ajthefox Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Massive win for us today, hopefully with two away wins on the trot, one that showed grit and one class, we can build up an away record on a similar level to our home record. Today was a potential banana skin but a terrific first half performance, two brilliant goals, a clean sheet and all this away from home against the sheep shaggers makes for a very sweet day, up to 7th as well. Disappointed Weale didn't start, I think Oakley was a little lightweight in the middle despite some good passing and I'm still a little sceptical about Vassells effectiveness on the wing although saying that he would have a beauty of a goal if he'd held off by half a second or so. As I said though generally very pleased, Van Aanholt seems to be improving, top class defending from the other 3, yet again great displays from Kingy and Wellens,Gallagher put in a good shift and Yakubu showed exactly why he should be in the premiership. Up the Foxes!! :scarf:

Nah it wasnt to do with last season. Sven wants a new keeper and i believe that ricardo is just a short term answer to a new keeper. I dont think sven rates weale.
ajthefox Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Oh yeah also want to say credit to everyone who went today, away support sounded quality and was all I heard for 90 minutes, not a peep from Derby. Sacked in the morning was one of many highlights!
Salieri Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Admittedly Derby were bobbins, but that football in the first half was as good as i've seen in 30 years of watching LCFC. Yakubu's goal was a quality finish without a doubt, but for me, the second goal was something else. Countless passes all the way from the back culminating in a (King-like) precise finish in the bottom corner, it had class written all over it. We were successful under MON without always playing too much in the way of slick, passing football. How nice it would be to be able to combine success with the type of football witnessed today in the first half. Exciting times ahead.
FoxyPV Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 Mee was superb today - really solid. Good win against a poor team. It would have been a shock if we'd got anything less than a win today given the quality of our squad. My internet connections has been pure shite all day so only caught glimpses of the match (and had to go to the hospital with the wee man - inconsiderate or what) but from what I saw - we are a joy to watch at times - our passing and movement was superb. We defended well and bar a couple of nightmare attempted punches by Ricardo we looked really solid at the back. I've said it before on this thread but absolutely King's goal.
Captain... Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 A very professional performance, we kept the ball well in the first half kept Derby out the game, created few clear cut chances, but we scored 2 great goals and could have had more. Second half Derby changed it up played 2 up front and actually tried to make a game of it and we were immense in defence, but could have kept the ball better further up the pitch. I also think they saw Ricardo's weakness on the high balls and started pumping the crosses in, fortunately we had Bamba, Mee and for 20 minutes Bruma as rocks at the back. We need to continue our good run at home and beat Brizzle and Cov, if we can beat Norwich away then we have the real test QPR away, exciting times to be a Leicester fan. First things first, beat Bristol on Firday, then we can relax and watch Leeds vs Norwich and Forest vs Cardiff, the other teams will drop points, we just have to keep on winning.
Hack Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 We were playing this sort of football under Sousa, or at least we were trying to. Everything seems to have clicked now though, long may it continue. Yes this is the sort of football that Sousa tried to play. But only 2 players in the side today, were in the starting team on opening day. Oakley and King. Sven realised that he rest of the team needed changing to be able to play this type of football.
FeedtheYak Posted 12 February 2011 Posted 12 February 2011 FEEEEEEEEED THE YAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK Prem here we come!!
Kitchandro Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 The Football League show are at it again....how much time do they want to spend on close ups. Just show the highlights.

I like your contradiction: - /// "thought Mee was fantastic today. - Ricardo WILL drop us in the shite for sure!!"!/// I remember back in the days that Mee was not anything anybody would let near a defencew line.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 Few things to say. Mee & Bamba controlled the game from the back. Solid. Yakubu, he's lazy but if he gets a chance and scores, Im happy! Overall everyone played decent, a comfortable & controlled performance. Great to see our whole end standing! When we all sung it sounded loud on the TV (I recorded it as I was at the game and just watched it back). However, good effort by their fans too. Anyone on here in that Pub near the train station ? Class few hours in there, seemed a good boozer. The lads on the 21st were a good laugh to Happy Days, Leicesters goin up goin up!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 13 February 2011 Posted 13 February 2011 There hasn't been a better 45 minutes played by any side in the championship this season. We were unbelievable in the first half. Sat back more than we needed to in the second half but we were still obviously the better team. Kingy was fantastic today. Took his goal brilliantly as usual but he was absolutely everywhere as well. His play off the ball really is so underrated. I just run out of things to say about him he is unbelieveable and he is all ours! And **** me Yakubu's goal was amazing!! Nobody can tell me Jermaine Beckford could do that! Not sure about all this Ricardo bashing. I was surprised to see him replace Weale today given recent performances but how the hell are you all damning him when he didn't even have a save to make all game? Oh shit and I forgot to say.. How good was Gallagher today??
