luckyalex13 Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Standing area. No goal music Big tv screens More staff behind bar Drinking allowed in standing/ seating area
Jakemoore Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Put the KOP next to the away end and move the family stand to where the KOP is. It makes no sense having the away end scum next to the fox cubs and their parents, stadiums that host the away fans next to the KOP have better atmospheres in general. Maybe we'd fill our ground if the atmosphere improved.
acooling08 Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 I'm sorry but 'When your smiling' is a slightly embarassing anthem imo. I'd love to try standing. Too young to ever be in a standing area and only went to Filbert Street about 10 times as a youngster. The people behind the bar are useless. Surely they should make enough pies and have the pints lined up ready for HT...

vandamman Posted 21 February 2011 Posted 21 February 2011 Drinking in the stands. Some pre-match entertainment i.e. local bands, wouldn't be too hard to do....better than playing crappy chart music. Or cheerleaders again, I reckon Sven would contribute money towards that. Small fireworks, flames what have you when players arrive onto pitch. Get Bernie to host the half time entertainment. ARGGGHHHH raffle.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 employ people to work behind the food & drink counter who dont want to watch the second half, that way it will stay open for 90 minutes
Fosse Boy Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Love how the first suggestion in the thread would actually make the place even worse. And WYS - embarrassing? Come off it. When everyone with half a mind does it at a reasonable speed it looks and sounds great. So yeah - more bouncing, more fireworks, more flags and whatever else I usually say when this type of thread crops up.
ajthefox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Make the current scoreboards constant all game, not flashing like they did on Friday, less level of stewards (can be too much at times) and get rid of the Fusion's restaurant - complained over slow service and undercooked food. Seriously, are you wumming or what?
ealingfox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Aside from wanting a few touches here and there that connect the ground to the club a bit more, I don't think there's a lot wrong with The Walkers, we just need it full more often. The atmosphere at the Man City game was fantastic!
Dilkes Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 its said a million times, so im going to make it a million and one. Swap Kop with Family Stand!
ajthefox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Aside from wanting a few touches here and there that connect the ground to the club a bit more, I don't think there's a lot wrong with The Walkers, we just need it full more often. The atmosphere at the Man City game was fantastic! I agree with this really. There are little things I don't like particularly and fundamental changes like safe standing would be awesome, but it's not something the club can change at the present time. Just having it verging on full every week would be the best thing that could happen.
samjohnson Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Move Away fans down towards the Kop... Would take too much effort to move the Kop. Shift L block down to follow suit. Get rid of any ideas for big screens Get something going like European football... Tifo's! No more music Common sense stewards Treat the fans like people, not sheep
lcfcadam Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 4. Do away with the clapping thing before a free kick is taken. Quite simply the most cringeworthy thing in the entire world...
lcfcadam Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Seriously, are you wumming or what? You obviously haven't seen any post he's ever made on this forum with regards to his VIP matchday experience. It seems for some that kind of thing is what they want, which is fair enough. I'd rather have teeth pulled than have to watch a City match from a box myself but we're not all the same are we...
Fox92 Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Just mentioning these small things really; I really would like the pre-match music to be played louder than what it is. Every away match I attend, the music seems to be louder and enhance the atmosphere, where as, at the Walkers its quite. Also, whilst on the topic of music, I'm not a big fan of goal music. Plus, I'd also like Post Horn Gallop to be played via the PA system and not by a man blowing it out of an instrument.
MC Prussian Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Knock it down and build Filbert Street again? A modern-day Filbert Street wouldn't be too shabby. Same style, only about twice as big (or let's say, with double the capacity of 22'000 when the old Filbo closed). But seriously, the Walkers is a decent place. Still, I don't know whether something can be done about the poor acoustics with the way the stadium is built, even if our support is seemingly getting better each year. I'd also welcome a safe-standing area. They could re-do the food concourse - it's a bit bleak and poorly implemented. Rip out the food bars and refurbish them from scratch. Toilets could also be a bit better. Didn't someone mention the other day that the work wasn't finished in 2002 because the owners couldn't pay any longer? The Megastore's a bit small, too - and you could always come up with a better concept for the ticket office (e.g. a better queuing system). The speaker system is not up-to-date. I'd really love to listen to what the Birch has to say during half-time, but the sound quality near the pitch area and the concourse/toilets is piss-poor. Also, why the need to show your ticket/ST three times before getting to the seat? I'm in L1 and it still annoys me. I think stewards have better things to do, like guaranteeing matchday safety. It'd be nice (but posh and also hard to maintain, I know) to have the entire outside covered in the same glass like the part on the West side.
Fox1651 Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 The only thing IMO thats needs to improve is our attendances, dont get me wrong obvioiusly not knocking our own support, but say if ticket offers happened a bit more often we would fill the stadium more often therefore generating a better atmosphere which in all honesty usually (not always i know!!!) makes the players more up for a game and play better etc etc.

darko2k7 Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 Off the top of my head . 1. Safe standing area ( although i don't agree with it my self it seems that most fans do and if thats what they wont that is wot they should get ) 1.1 Don't agree with ppl saying drinking to be allowed in the stands as drunk standing and dancing around like knobs is not the best image for the club when we are on t.v. It also WILL lead to some violence or something being thrown onto the pich because it only takes one the give us all a bad name e.g Millwall's last game .. 2 Video Scoreboards , One like the one in this years Super bowl stadium would be nice but bet that cost at least a million to install . 3. Better pre-match and half time entertainment ( e.g local bands , or football based competitions like a randomly picked fans for a cross bar challenge or penalty shoot out .) 4. No Goal music . 5. The large City kit they have laying wasted in the middle of the pitch pre-match be passed around the crowd 6. As many Scarves and massive flags being waved around as possible ( e.g Liverpool ground looks awesome when they sing you'll never walk alone pre-match with all that going on but with us it would be WYS ) 7. Paint the floor Blue in the areas in side the ground before you enter the stands ( The term you us for it escapes me) Just way too much Grey in there for my liking . 8. Better range of beers and food . Thats all I can think of the moment
sbfox Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 I actually think that we don't NEED to change that much, other than attendances. When we get our place filled, we don't sound half bad, especially compared to most FL clubs nowadays. Bristol on Friday was pretty good IMO, best I've seen and heard at the Walkers for a while. Some pretty epic celebrations when we scored around our area too. Generally the conveniences could be improved - better toilets, more serving space in the concourses, etc etc., but these cost money and don't have to be changed, its ok at the moment. I'm in the minority, but I don't think the Kop should ever be swapped with the family stand. I quite like the away support only being able to focus on L and generally, L can outsing most. Having the away fans surrounded would just make them louder as they'd feel more hemmed in and IMO anyway, they'd be trying to fight against a more hostile atmosphere. Oh and electronic turnstiles. Just because.
FuriousFox46 Posted 22 February 2011 Posted 22 February 2011 What's the big deal with music? Everyone ****ing does it nowadays. Lets just fit in
