Donut Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 On the basis of what ive seen of him so far, he is vastly overrated. I dont think he defends particularly well, his positional sense is nothing special. His decision making is poor, defensively and going forward. Woefully inept decision today to go to ground in the tackle..... doesnt seem to understand when to tackle, when to stand, and when to push his attacker wide of the goal....clearly today he should have been pushing the cov winger wide of the goal, trying to stop the cross. Going forward, he is wasteful. Sometimes he wont show for the ball at all going forward. Other times he will shoot from bizarre positions, no final ball quality or delivery of any kind........where is this explosive pace were told about? show it by bombing on past Gally and offering width each time, as youd be expected to do at Chelsea ala Cole. Stringer on Monday night said he thought a fit Cunningham would have been a better choice in the side. I dont want to make scapegoats, i dont want to jump on any bandwagons, i just think SO FAR, the hype has been misplaced.

Ricey Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 If you don't want to make scapegoats or 'start' a bandwagon wouldn't it have been better to have put this in the post match thread He was poor today and not much better in previous games. However, I reckon he has the ability there and can see him having a belter sometime soon. Let's be honest though, Sven won't drop him for Bruno because he loves his pace.

Give the guy a break, at least he put a decent shift in. I thought the criticism of the guy, particularly over the radio driving back home, was well out of order. Can we stop comparing the guy with the best English left back in the game? I seem to recollect Cole wasn't particularly great at defending either when he started out!

He has been put up so high by the media/Sven etc that when he puts seemingly simple chances well over the bar what do you expect? If he made the keeper work then thats another thing. Did you see Andy King's reaction when he took the ball off him, and then put it 10 yards over the bar? Could do better.

stix Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 PVA has the potential to be a premier league star at left back, he is very young, has alot of desire and wants to be in the game all of the time back and forth. Blistering pace and the abilty to chase down the attacker before they managed to get the cross in is only a couple of his pro's. The guy WILL play at the highest level one day. His presance WILL benefit LcFC whilst he is here. whoops .. I dont get it EDIT: i DO get it.....doh!!!

In my opinion Paris is the capital of Nigeria. By your logic my opinion cannot be wrong. I agree with your last sentence though you don't seem to be offering a solution. therefore you are still part of the problem.
syston_fox Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 Well no because I can tell you for fact that the capital of Nigeria is Abuja (and yes I did have to look that up) whereas PVA being over rated is a matter of opinion. Some people may see him as being full of potential, others may see him as someone with with a reputation that he will never fulfil. Look at the Derby game where he played some brilliant balls into the box and was generally quite solid. Today could have been a blip or it could have been the real player - the majority of us will only have seen him in a handful of games of his career and so will be hard to make a judgement in such a short space of time.
JamesLCFC Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 i really really liked cunnigham, thought the was very good

Paris being the capital of France is fact, opinion doesn't come into something that is fact.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 I dont rate him at all. Different player to Berner, but you always feel confident when Berner ahs the ball, and he does the basic defending first, attacking second. PVA isnt as good as he seems to think he is, cant cross and cant shoot either.
sdb Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 Berner not even on the bench today, having recently signed a contract. bet he's very pissed off.
Bugg Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 I'd rather have Van Aanholt on the wing with Berner at full back.
shailen Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 Hes perfect for the way we play, just had a bad game today. As much as i love bruno, he is no wing back that can run down the line for 90 mins. But i think svens.being too ambitious with his tactics, today we were left exposed 2 on 2 because the two wing backs went to attack, and so only bamba and bruma left back there, when this happens i would like to see abe push in as a third CB, or even a DM. But for our style PVA is much better then bruno, was just poor today!
gazzer Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 What a ridiculous argument that is. Paris being the capital of France is fact, opinion doesn't come into something that is fact. cool. in my opinion you are an ass. and since we now know opinions can't be wrong...
