Unit Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Don't normally care for this sort of thing, any good talking points come up? (concerning city not his PJs!)
Kilworthfox Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Got to admire his commitment, he deserves it but I'd probably agree with both Thracian and Bert. I was also happy to hear that a few players stayed behind to practice their finishing, would have helped on saturday obviously. In regards to Tunchev, Sven said that "he will not be ready for at least a month". Tunchvev has played 90 minutes in a reserve game unless Sven was mistaken. Faz & Sven agreed that Tunchev was a positive charachter & was always in the dressing room before games wishing the players well. They both commended Tunchev on his desire to come back suggesting that he could not do anymore than he has, especially in the gym where he will be every day working on strengthening his muscles around his knees so it helps to avoid injury in future. Tunchev has had around 20 injections in his knees over a 18 month period. Also: Steve Howard has an ankle injury, I was not aware. He should be back running in training next week if al goes well. Faz said that all the facilities at the club were good & to a standard that are ready for premiership football, however he did say that the trainging ground facilities did need investment! Sven had 2 meetings with the owners, first meeting the ambitions were set out by the owners, the next day Sven signed! Sven appeared a loyal person, he said he only ever left 1 job, that was Lazio to come to manage England! On 2 occasions he said he was sacked. I guess that Sven considers Notts County a different circumstance. Wellens then Ghallagher are our best technical players, SGE & DF considered them to be if not the best in the division, among them! We play 4-3-2-1 because we have 3 very tallented technical midfielders, Both Sven & DF would like to play 4-4-2 but they do not believe it would benefit us at present as they would have to drop a very good technical midfielder which they did not appear to want to do, and they did not feel that we had the wingers to play that formation. The questions on the night were not really difficult direct questions, some fans who attended, would have submitted questions about player selection or wanting an explanation of why a certain player plays over another, but these type of questions were not asked! I assume that they had more than 2 similar questions regarding Ricardo & Wheale, but they I guess must have requested that these type of questions would not be in the clubs interest.
Rhysm Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Would of been interesting to hear about his recruitment policy going forward. The only thing that sits slightly uneasy with Sven is everything that he has done is very short term, of course looking to get us promoted asap and building when we get there. Will be interesting to see the type of player he identifies in the summer. Young and hungry players or older more experienced "marquee" players. Selling players and replacing them with quality loanees is all well and good short term, but its not in my opinion a long term viable way of running a club. I would guess that with his contacts he would be looking at out of contract players and quality loan signings again.
Babylon Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 6. You have to pay Premierships clubs a fee usually to loan players. However an interesting thing he came up with was the 2 Chelsea loanees. He says they have agreed loan fees but the more times he plays the Chelsea duo the cheaper it becomes as Chelsea effectively pay us money back from the " loan fee " every game they play. Interesting to know that, seems quite a fair way of going about it.
prayforsnow Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Birch also confirmed the clubs plans to expand the stadium if/when we are promoted. I hadn't heard anyone from the club mention it before.
Brauniefox Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Anyone see them kids ask for Jobbers autograph Yes I saw Jobber signing autographs...Crazy.
Ashley Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Birch also confirmed the clubs plans to expand the stadium if/when we are promoted. I hadn't heard anyone from the club mention it before. I swear there was something on here about the club applying/applied for planning permission for the ground? Might be wrong though.
m00nie Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 I swear there was something on here about the club applying/applied for planning permission for the ground? Might be wrong though. yea someone was part of the firm that did the plans or something and said they had been drawn up all ready..
Tommy G Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Thought it was a fantastic evening and both Sven and Faz spoke well - as expected. Thought the other stuff he spoke about apart from Leicester was really interesting about when he managed in Italy and how he got the Eng job. Funny that Faz said the training ground needed investment - always thought it was supposed to be top notch. I hope when Gally asked who was better out of him and Beckham that it was a sarcastic ques not a serious one!!
Thracian Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Best moment of the night for me was when some 10-year-old kid asked Sven what he needed to do to become a professional footballer. Sven said he should come down to the training ground as soon as he could. What a day to remember that promises to be for the lad. It was also mentioned by Birch that he couldn't remember Sven refusing an autograph and Sven replied to the effect that it's when people don't want your autograph that you've got problems.
FuriousFox46 Posted 2 March 2011 Posted 2 March 2011 Not really worth a new topic, but i know a few will be with me on it.. MASSIVLY pissed off at just missing out on a ticket, then to make it worse, just got a picture message of 2 mates with the mighty Sven....BASTARDS!! Anyone else in the same boat? :sge: Yes! I had a ticket but unfortunately my dad had to go to Belgium so I couldn't go. My plan is to troll the gates of Belvoir Drive until I got a photo!!
