Whilst i love his goal scoring exploits,it is not acceptable from an upcoming captain. This also happens with some of his team mates.....lacking that extra bit of urgency to close down opponents. Need more steel as mentioned by Sven Erickson or we have no chance against QPR C'mon you foxes.

Haydos Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Wellens rarely tracks back. Bruma doesn't for Ramsey's goal despite acknowledging his presence several times. Why is King being made an example of?
MPH Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Not sure of how this thread will help the day before arguably our biggest game of the season?
davieG Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Nearly everyone was shit defensively against Cardiff that's why we lost 2-0. A link to Foxesplayer is not very helpful either.
BrummieFOX Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Wellens rarely tracks back. Bruma doesn't for Ramsey's goal despite acknowledging his presence several times. Why is King being made an example of? He's our acting captain and is being constantly linked with Premier League clubs. He's only young and the thread starter just pointing out some of his shortcomings which I'm sure with the right management and attitude he'll improve on. Not sure of how this thread will help the day before arguably our biggest game of the season? , yea this has really ruined our chances.
okie fox Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 I only saw the Cardiff goals in the 'highlights', but it seemed that several of our players were not marking tightly. Why single out King?
MPH Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 , yea this has really ruined our chances. If you genuinely think my comment was implying that, then you are a bigger fool than he is...
Ric Flair Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Haha, what a load of old toss. King is defensively very astute, but every player makes mistakes. His tackling, positional sense and certainly his heading in defensive situations are of a high standard.

His tackling, positional sense and certainly his heading in defensive situations are of a high standard. Too true. Often when he's being rated as anonymous that's pretty much what you'll find he's been doing. As Marbella regularly has to remind people his best contributions are made in the two penalty areas.
lcfc_jme Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 I would hate to think what the OP made of our defending against Portsmouth earlier this season if he thinks the Cardiff defensive display was disgraceful. The Cardiff game was a bad day at the office, everybody has them. We've played another game since then where we weren't even nearly as bad so I'm not quite sure why it's still being brought up. Having had a week off, I'd expect everybody to be refreshed and more alert tomorrow, especially given how good QPR are perceived to be at coming forward. Infact, I'd be highly suprised if this isn't something Svennis has been working on during training in preparation for this game.
cc_star Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 no one's immune to making a mistake - Our midfield is actually weak defensively as we lack a Lee Bowyer type player who can control games bossing the whole game from box to box as we saw in the Carling Cup Final, King does most of his work off the ball, making a late run into the box is the most noticeable aspect of this as it often results in a goal, but he always pulls away away from players and makes himself available. Not closing players down is something we seem to do quite often, Bamba has been at fault from a couple of goals recently in this respect... I don't think you can have the passing game Sven wants to play and sluggers who chase every lost cause & stretch every sinew to make a block - the two generally don't go hand in hand, of course there are some exceptions to this rule, but whether they'll ever join us or not is a different issue.
MikeyT Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Do people try and find things to be negative about all the bloody time?!!
Corky Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Bollocks. King's best attributes are his work in both areas. He's as important defensively as he is attacking.

You're criticising King saying his defensive capabilities aren't good enough based on 12 seconds of highlight footage!! Give me a break If you broke a football match down into 12 second segments you'd find mistakes from every player with no trouble. King isn't perfect and maybe was partially responsible for the goal but the way you've singled him out based on one little thing like this is laugable.
Christoph Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 I reckon he'd be pretty good as a centre forward tbh
LCFClukeLCFC Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 since when does a mid have to be a defensive rock for his team get some brains matey
Corky Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 I reckon he'd be pretty good as a centre forward tbh He wouldn't. His speciality is arriving late into the box, almost unnoticed. You'd lose that if he played too far forward.
