Leicester City's hot prospect Jeffrey Schlupp is poised for a Wembley appearance this weekend.

The 18-year-old has made a sensational impact during a loan spell at League One Brentford.

The Germany Under-19 striker has scored three goals in the past two games, and was substituted at half-time against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday to protect him for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final against Carlisle United on Sunday.

He scored twice on his debut against Carlisle and then scored the Bees' second goal in the 3-1 win at Hillsborough.

Bees manager Nicky Forster said: "We took off Jeff and Kevin O'Conor as precautions as we want to make sure we have everyone available for Sunday."

City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson then decided to send him out on loan to widen his experience. He is due to stay at Brentford until April 14.

Schlupp's impact has been so dramatic that the German-Ghanaian is set to run out at Wembley with more than 60,000 tickets already sold for the showcase final.

City's Academy director Jon Rudkin says Schlupp is about to enjoy a "fantastic experience".

He said: "Jeffrey has certainly put himself in a position to be involved at Wembley and that will be a fantastic experience, but a little unusual to come so early in his career.

"He is making quite an impact at Brentford with three goals in his first two starts."

Schlupp has already fast-tracked himself into Eriksson's plans with the City boss watching him excel as the under-18s reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in 21 years this season.

Rudkin said: "He got himself in and around the first-team squad and trained with them, and then got himself on the bench for the Norwich game."

Robbie Neilson, another City player on loan at Brentford, is also eyeing a Wembley appearance on Sunday and should be fit, despite being suffering from an ankle injury.

Just hope he doesn't become a victim of the new transfer policy.

With promotion looking very unlikely this season, the pressure's on Sven to get promoted next season. Will he risk playing players like Schlupp?

Having said that he had a decent record of bringing players through at Man City and the fact he's been on the bench already this season hopefully indicates he's willing to give the lad a chance.

It's too early to say but I just hope we don't end up with another Gradel scenario.

Looking at his twitter, it looks like he will be playing for Brentford at Wembley today.

Hopefully he can continue his good form and bag another goal, big day for him.

At least Robbie Neilson can say one thing he's done that the rest of the first team can't. 'I've played in a wembley final this season lads". lol

:fc: Hopefully Schlupp and Nielson pick up winners medals today. Looking forward to this, I've not seen Schlupp yet apart from highlights for Brentford.

.... a little wee came out when Neilson beat his man to hit a 30+ yard shot..... shame it was deflected.

I reckon it was on target too.

So unlucky, thought he'd scored.

Schlupp last minute goal to take the game to extra time, then penalties, Neilson to score the final and winning penalty. You heard it here first.

Diagouraga's teammate (not sure who) got him sent off then with that shit pass. Terrible ball and he had to chase to try and keep possession.

Gutted about this result but it's a great bit of experience for Schlupp to play in a big game like this. So close to getting a Wembley goal too.

Brentford were really giving it some trying to get the equaliser.

Danny Schlupp. lol

So unlucky not to score, put himself about and looks frighteningly quick. Exciting.
