P Tierney Today's Referee

Recommended Posts

So a Pompey player goes down OFF THE PITCH behind their goal.

Their keeper then stupidly kicks it out as if the injured player is ON the pitch.

Naughton spots the mistake and quickly takes the throw in to the Yak who is set to score when the referee blows the whistle and stops the game.

WHY?

It was one of the worse pieces of refereeing I have seen, and that's saying something.

The referee was bad, no denying and I know you are just commenting on a bad decision that favoured the opposition but I know people are just going to reply to this thread just blaming the referee and not blaming the performance.

Our performance was as bad as the referee's, don't just blame the official, be honest.

I agree,

We was crap today, even if the ref had been spot on with everything i doubt it would have help or performance, worse ive seen in a long while.

The ref didn't cost us the game.

No, but that doesn't excuse his incompetence

And the countless times Pompey were timewasting and ref never even had a word or asked them to hurry up.

Doesn't defend our poor performance though.

The ref was terrible. Portsmouths time wasting was even worse.

But we were abysmal today and that's why we lost.

How many times did Kitson go in with a late lunge or a push in the back whenever he lost possession, I swear I couldn't about 15 unnoticed fouls he committed.

Referee was absolutly shocking, I've never been so angry at a game before, Im sure the people around feared for their safety.

How on Earth did the Linesman not see the blatant handball? The whole stadium shouted for it!

shit ref today, but we still played shit.. would have thought the poor decisions would have spurned the team on more but it never..

to be honest though the crowd was too quiet also.. we should be raising the roof to try and get them back into it but was too silent..

Don't even get me started on K1! They're so ****ing shit, and I stand there. People just can't be arsed to get behind the team, they'd rather play on their phone or gel their hair than get behind the team. They hardly ever sing even when we're winning. I'm seriously considering relocating back to the Kop.

Gotta agree, It was eerily quiet, think the minute silience continued right through the game.

The Walkers is quiet we all know about that but today was worse than usual.

Not defending the ref at all, but the player made sure he had a foot on the pitch, even though he was lying off it

dont be drawn into the 'blaming the referee' nonsense.... he was poor yes, but we were as bad and Sven is making himself look a twat

Ref was poor today - but we didn't lose because of him.

How their keeper didn't get a yellow for blatant time-wasting from the moment their goal went in, is anyone's guess.

:dunno:

At least yesterday's ref was consistent - consistently poor and in so many areas. He looked like a novice or a guy who'd been to the training courses and not listened to a thing he was told.

He was also a sucker - the Portsouth players just laughed a him whether with their cynical time-wasting or their getting away with retreating seven or eight yards at free-kicks two mention two of the most blatant examples.

The incident with the "injured" player being of the pitch only emphasised the bloke's naivety but he was no excuse for Leicester's even worse excuse for a performance which earned them exactly what they got - which was beaten.

"SELECT GROUP

PAUL TIERNEY

Paul was promoted to the select group of assistant referees in 2008 and in the same year was appointed as an assistant referee for a Football League Play Off Semi-Final and a UEFA Cup tie."

By the sounds of this he is actually a decent ref for being an assistant in the UEFA Cup, but he was awful, and the number of times there was a blatant push on any of our players (normally from Kitson) and don't even start on THAT 'injury'....He was awful, but we weren't much better
