All a bit late now anyway, he's cost us enough since he's come. People are allowed to give credit to players when they do something right, you don't have to dislike them 24/7.

Thracian Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Today doesn't say anything conclusive for Bruma as a defensive midfielder. In that role I thought him a bit ponderous and at risk of being caught in possession more than just the once that I noticed. But on the plus side we've been desperate for more potential scorers, particularly from central midfield, and from what Vassell said on Radio Leicester Bruma is forever having a crack at goal in training. His strikes today were excellent in their own right and important contributions to our win. He deserves all the credit he's got for them. Next week he'll be judged again on what happens but I really don't understand this notion that if someone is marked badly for having a bad game he's somehow hated.

lcfc_jme Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 Tell me then the last time that a midfielder has been slated the same way Weale was for his two mistakes on Friday, Ricardo's mistakes against Cov and Portsmouth, Bamba's mistake against Reading, Van Aanholt's numerous mistakes against Reading, Ben Mee's disaster against Millwall? I can't think of any. King and Oakley constantly get rockets off of people on here despite making no mistakes at all. King apparently never does anything if he doesn't score and gets roundly abused for that if we don't win games, and as for Oakley, he shouldn't even be at the club let alone playing when others need a rest - that in spite of his solid and consistent performances over the last few games.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 He's been shit since he joined us but he's clearly had a rocket up his bum today. interestingly i thought he was having a stinker in the first half (along with the rest of the team) and goal apart did nothing. 2nd half the whole team were much much better, more urgency and obviously Bruma and The Yak were particularly good with the goals etc
Dames Posted 26 April 2011 Posted 26 April 2011 I think he lacks to concentration and simplicity to be a center back. He's often trying to do something fancy or playing his way out of trouble when theres no need. Center Defensive Midfield might be ideal for him, he's big, strong, quick and recently we've seen he can also hit them from distance. If we get him next season and Hamann has a good preseason with him, maybe just maybe he could become a good CDM for us. Definitely wouldn't like him at center back again though.

The whole "Weale is excellent" thing is a perfect case in point - Weale is fine but he is not so much better than Ricardo (as he has demonstrated so perfectly since his return to the side). Also, don't forget a fair few of the negative crowd on here thought Naughton was poor and he has ended up making the Championship team of the season. When will we learn to get behind players? A quick list of the "crap" players we've released of late: Fryatt, Gradel, DJ Campbell, Hobbs. They have one thing in common - they all seem to be doing very well for sides that are above us in the pyramid. I am not sure why so many city fans are so negative, but all of this idolising certain players such as Berner and slating others that appear to be pretty good just seems bizarre. I have no problem with Berner or any other player who is competent and gives his all, but please lets get behind players.

DJ's appearance to goal ratio is good, but he's going to be in the CCC next season. Fryatt has been doing ok, but his goal tally of 9 since he joined Hull is deceiving as he has scored 3 penalties , a hat-trick I believe against Scunthorpe (one being a peno) in all of his 18 appearances. Well done for him converting the penos, but it does not mean he is now a prolific striker by a long stretch of the imagination. Hobbs has been in the line-up for Hull's 2-4 loss to 'Boro. And it could be argued that he has settled in the Hull team, I haven't read anywhere that he is making outstanding contributions to Hull's defense. He's doing ok.

The 18-year-old Dutchman, who is on loan from Chelsea, scored two thunderous strikes from 30 yards out in City's 4-2 win over Watford to cap his best performance for the club, and he said it was a special feeling, especially as his family were in the stands to watch. "These were my first two goals in senior football so it is a day I will never forget," he said. "It is a fantastic feeling and my parents were in the crowd so it was nice for them to see me do well. "They have tried to come to all my games but they have been in Holland so they came over last week and have seen a couple of games now. "The manager said before the game we had to win so we had to shoot when we got the opportunity, and for the first one I turned my man and took my shot. It was the same with the second. "I have only scored goals in the youth and the reserves before. This was completely different because it was in front of a big crowd. After the first goal I could hear the fans shouting 'shoot' because they could see I have a good shot. "I will watch the goals back on video and always keep a copy of this game." Bruma admits his time at City has been a steep learning curve, but he believes it will help him make the transition from youth and reserve football to first-team professional. "This has been very good for my development, to play match football," he said. "There has been big pressure in terms of playing for play-offs and it has been stressful as well if we haven't won. "It makes a young player a professional player and you have to go through these types of things to be a professional. "I have learned to compete more. In the youth team and reserves it is different because you win games quite easily, but at this level it is never easy. "You have to give 100 per cent all the time and if you don't and you get sloppy you will lose."

Maybe if Sven had introduced this on top of our passing game a little earlier we'd have been fine and like (a poorer, less good version of) the Real Madrid of old, where we couldn't defend to save our lives but always scored more than the opposition.

Call someone fickle, for example, if they're saying Steve Howard is shit and good riddance. They were same ones celebrating plenty of goals and assists he's made for us. You can't generalise a forum as fickle. This is why I'll never make a judgement of someone in under 2 months or so, I understand a player won't show his true colours after a couple of matches.
