davieG Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 This season we've scored 44 goals at home and 71 in total the last time we achieved anything like this in the 2nd tier was 02/03 when we got promoted. Full list 10/11 - 71/44/27 09/10 - 61/40/21 08/09 - 84/41/43 3rd tier 07/08 - 42/23/19 06/07 - 49/26/23 05/06 - 51/30/21 04/05 - 49/24/25 03/04 - 48/19/29 PL 02/03 - 73/40/33 01/02 - 30/15/15 PL
Ric Flair Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Just look at the lack of draws as well, shows we've either spanked teams or they've spanked us. The fact we've also lost about half a dozen games with scoring 2 or more is a heinous crime as well. Any fan who really claims we 'don't take our chances has got to realise that 71 goals in 44 games is a ridiculous return for a team who are woeful in front of goal. The defence has always been the problem this season, teams who create a lot of chances will miss a lot of chances too but if they score at a rate of nearly 2 a game then that's job done in that department. Disgusting given we're not in the top 6 with that.

FoxyPV Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 And our goal difference is still shite, Tell you something about our defending this season? Beat me to it.
Lesta Legend Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 And our goal difference is still shite, Tell you something about our defending this season? it's our home record, which is quite brilliant, but then our away record totally reverses; we forget how to score and let goals in for fun. If we can get our away record sorted then we'll be laughing.
shen Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 its our goalkeeper not defenders You're being serious, which is the worst part...
Les-TA-Jon Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Am i right in saying we only had one 0-0 this season too? first home game - against Middlesbrough?
Ashley Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Am i right in saying we only had one 0-0 this season too? first home game - against Middlesbrough? Indeed.
lcfcsnow Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I personally have enjoyed this season. I remember all the garbage I've watched over the years, all the negative tactics, boring managers and lack of goals, no strikers apart from cart horses, past its and 'harriers'. So many wonder goals scored this year too, I couldn't pick a goal of the season as there are 20-25 in contention. Thanks for the entertainment Sven and more of the same next season please.

Harriers and past it's are the same thing now after the MoD decommissioned them
Brown Fox Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Our amount of goalscorers have gone up hugely as well this season. I think last season we had the shortest goalscorers list in the championship as most weeks it was either Fryatt, Waggy, King, Gally or even Berner. But think back to Monday and how many of our team have scored and how many they have scored. Our back line alone had 9 goals and only 2 outfield players hadn't scored for us this season in Mee and Abe ad Mee hit the bar as well! Really loving seeing all of these goal/wondergoals!

Foxblogger Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I put this on twitter but it's worth reposting here. If City net twice in their final home game vs Ipswich they will have scored more home league goals than in any season since the 60's.

Foxblogger Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 I wonder how far I would have had to go back to find a better season. The record for home league goals by Leicester in a single season is 68. It was set in 1956/57 when the Foxes were on thier way to winning the Division 2 title.
lestajigs Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Yea last season we did better, in finishing in the play offs, but we did play some shit football, this season we played good football but finished mid table!! You can't win!!
Foxblogger Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 To add some more context to these numbers I decided to do a little more research. The club record for league goals in a single season is 109 - set in 1956/57. The lowest number of goals scored is 26 in 1977/78. The club record for goals conceded in a single season is 112 - set in 1957/58. The fewest conceded was 30 in 1970/71. Of course, this doesn't take into account the number of games played in a single season. If you average for that only one stat changes. The 1908/09 defence which conceded 2.68 goals per game was actually slightly worse than 1957/58 (2.67). So there you have it.

I guess the Division you're in also makes a difference as with the 56/57 compared with the 57/58 examples
Corky Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 We're an entertaining side, just frustrating that we can't combine scoring goals with keeping clean sheets. Also, should we beat Ipswich, it will be 13 wins at home for the third consecutive season, which is a good record.
Dan Posted 28 April 2011 Posted 28 April 2011 Over the last three years we've lost 9 home league games - 3 a season out of 23, meaning we've gone unbeaten 20/23 home games for the last three years on average. Absolutely fvcking incredible, I doubt there's a side outside the Premier and excluding someone like Truro who has even come close.
davieG Posted 8 May 2011 Author Posted 8 May 2011 This season we've scored 44 goals at home and 71 in total the last time we achieved anything like this in the 2nd tier was 02/03 when we got promoted. Corky Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 And we did reach 13 wins again. Last three seasons at the Walkers- 39 wins, 21 draws, 9 defeats.
