Hack Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 To be fair Barkley and Vellios next to him are 16 and 19 Tim Cahill has said some amazing things about the quality of that Barkley kid!!
accessory Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Its just the type of player he is. As long as he hits the back of the net, what does it matter? People moan about Berbatovs apparent lack of passion and work rate, but he does the job. So why did Ferguson drop him for the Champions League final?
RyanB89 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 So why did Ferguson drop him for the Champions League final? ARE YOU SERIOUS? Rooney and Hernandez ring any bells?
accessory Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 ARE YOU SERIOUS? Rooney and Hernandez ring any bells? Berbatov had a better goalscoring record over the season than either Rooney or Hernandez (although he actually scored in fewer games). In the eyes of the pro-Yak posters on this thread, this should have entitled him to a place in the team. However, Ferguson chose not to take such a simplistic view - and neither should Sven.
muzzy1981 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I think if the Yak had a proper contract, the expectation and pressure from the fans and Sven would be greater which would actually make him perform. I seem to remember last season when the fans started getting on his case Sven came out in the press and said he needs to score goals and he responded with a goal or two. I think he is a player who performs under pressure so with a full season and some pre-season fitness could do well.

Well done for missing out the rest of my post. For those against Yakubu, (such as yourself) saying you dont want him because of his low work rate, maybe Taarabt should only have played a handful of games for QPR last season because he doesnt track back every time, or is greedy on the ball, or show enough passion? Warnock didnt take such a simplistic view, and neither should Sven. See, the arguement swings both ways and could go on for days (as i have said before). At the end of the day, i trust Sven and will be behind whoever he chooses to sign.
psychonaut Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Yakubu is not coming back. He will be given a second chance at Everton and he is happy with this.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Would like him back. Frustrates me but if he gets the goals then Im happy. He will always be remembered by that goal at Derby. Epic celebrations followed.

This is whats called rotation of players. Every manager does it at high level. This is one thying that made us struggle and miss playoffs. When Sven had to rotate players they weren't up to it and failed. This is why we have to keep squadplayers with a certain level of quality With Yak and Maynard we would be unstoppable..
Ian pcp Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I don't know about anyone else I would rather have a player that scores 11 goals from 11 games yet only gives 40% than someone who gives 120% and scores nothing. We should buy the Yak then try and get him to raise his game to lets say 70%-then how many would he score? possibly 30 plus

dannythefox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I think we should say if you score 30 goals you get a million bonus!

We should buy the Yak then try and get him to raise his game to lets say 70%-then how many would he score? possibly 30 plus What a ridiculous post. a) Even the Yak wouldn't score 11 in 11. b) How are you going to raise his work rate to 70%? Assuming it wasn't that already of course - he's lazy, he will always be lazy. Running is not his game. c) 120% isn't possible. d) Who are we trying to sign that will give '120%' and not score? No one. We're in for Maynard, who scores, and we were in for CMS, who scores. There must be a reason why this has gone quiet. I don't think the Yak is big on the idea of dropping down to the Champ, not for an entire season on a permo at any rate.
Ian pcp Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Even with the 1 million bonus he would still be cheaper than that Bristol Lad --What's his name-can't remember, he's not been mentioned for about 10 minutes---
dannythefox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Even with the 1 million bonus he would still be cheaper than that Bristol Lad --What's his name-can't remember, he's not been mentioned for about 10 minutes--- Ha ha. I want the yak back I no he's not a workhorse but he gets the ball in the net and he's always in the right position. Maynard I would defo take but 5-6 million is a lot of coin is Maynard going to score 20+ because i would be £100 Yak would! Cant wait to see who we end up with.
kyle09uk Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 lowe this hype Yak n Maynard would be too big! get um both in init... naaa meaaan!
