Bert Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 We've got a wage cap, so have Everton. Yakubu is not their top earner.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Don't get too excited.... And he's not on 80k a week. sorry Bert just what i was told
cc_star Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 sorry Bert just what i was told Fourth_Official said in the week... that Konchesky isn't on £40k as some loud-mouth had reported, because we wouldn't sign Yakubu on £35k because that would break our wage structure

cc_star Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Wow, £4m is a bit of a step up from £2m, but still cheaper than Maynard. Wonder what his wages would be like, though. It was never £2m AFAIK Everton cancelled our £3.5m bid earlier in the week (or last week or whenever it was) I've lost track with all the twists & turns in this extended saga

Maybe I'm hearing things.

Bettsj2 Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Friendly Ghost Pelts Millseh St Legend Koncheh Dannsderson Wellens King Galleh Ted Yak
lestajigs Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Don't get too excited.... And he's not on 80k a week. Bert, who is more likely the yak or heskey?? Your opinion??
jonno24 Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 Friendly Ghost Pelts Millseh St Legend Koncheh Dannsderson Wellens King Galleh Ted Yak As a sign of how pissed i am it genuimely took me 10 seconds o get that
Ricey Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 £4m is silly money for Yakubu, I really hope this all falls through.
jonno24 Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 £4m is silly money for Yakubu, I really hope this all falls through. well if he gets us 20 plus goals this season id say thats a sound investment plus already Premiership proven so no need to replace if we go up
MikeyT Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 £4m is silly money for Yakubu, I really hope this all falls through. Seriously?
lcfc matt Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 How can you say 4 million is to much for a proven scorer Maynard ain't worth what Bristol want for him I'd rather yak any way
ithuriel Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 To force Maynards hand maybe, the guy has sat on the sidelines too long.
That lad from Japan Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 I reckon we could end up with both, who knows? Would be a fromidable strikeforce and if im honest I dont mind paying 9 million if they do the business. Both goalscorers and far superior to heskey. Its make or break for Maynard now though.
Ricey Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Seriously? Absolutely. His goals ratio last season may look good but bare in mind that his was our only out-and-out striker and he scored most of them towards the end of the season when there wasn't much to play for. My opinion of him is he's slow, old, lazy, clumbersome and misses a lot of good chances. I also don't think he fits into Sven's aim of signing players with a real desire to play for Leicester. If we are going to play the same system as last year, we NEED the striker to have good movement. £4m and high wages with all that in mind, no thanks.

He's 28 years old which isn't really that old. He can outpace most center backs easily.
Charl91 Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Except he's not slow or old is he. He's 28 years old which isn't really that old. He can outpace most center backs easily. He's a nigerian 28. He could be mid 30's for all we know. He does look a lot older then 28 aswell in my opinion. And he was pretty slow from what I saw last season. That being said, I wouldn't mind the Yak back, but wouldn't be overly excited.

Following questionable dates of birth at previous under 21 tournaments FIFA introduced wrist scanning which can determine a players real age.

Following questionable dates of birth at previous under 21 tournaments FIFA introduced wrist scanning which can determine a players real age. If that's the case, then i'd feel slightly more positive about having the Yak here Edit: Though, from what I'v read, it's only been used recently in the under 21 tournaments. I can't imagine they'd have scanned Yak, after all there's no upper age limit for a footballer
Brenfox Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Get the Yak & then Maynard free in the summer. Not going to happen but its a nice thought

Can't see that being anything other than propaganda TBH, would be nice though, but pretty sure we're generally setting the transfer fee high enough to scare other clubs off - Mills & Maynard and we're paying well, hence Danns, does anyone not from the area or a lifelong fan have a desire to play for us beyond the wage cheque & if its not that it's because they think there's a better than average chance of being in the Prem. Yak has always scored goals though, yes he can be tagged as lazy because he doesn't tackle back or he could just be saving his energy to get in front of the defender the next time he scores. because of his goal threat he's also always heavily marked, this was a fact in a number of goals other team members scored
