ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I'd take Yakubu in a flash if it was possible. Yes he can be lazy but he pretty much guarantees goals and also scares the shit out of most defences in these league as they know if he wants to turn it on he's different class!
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 But 11 goals in 20 games ???? We all know he`s lazy but he finds the back of the net...
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Also... Would Heskey, Waghorn, Vassel, get that ??? I doubt it..
Webbo Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 No you're not - I just can't be bothered with the backlash But he's scored 11 goals you disabled etc. PS that's sarcasm, I agree with you.
Christoph Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 The Yak was insanely frustrating to watch when we was going through our slump. If he played with us, I wouldnt mind him linking up with another striker.
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Goals win prizes.... not running around like an headless chicken.
Number 6 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I hope it's not Yak or Maynard as I think the pair could be lethal. Yak will work great in our team if he has a mobile striker alongside him.
Walshy5 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Just got home from work and found out we,ve missed out on CMS Knowing this and the fact that the Maynard deal looks dead I think now we should pull out all the stops to get the Yak.
Legend_in_blue Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Am I the only person that really doesn't want Yakubu back? I don't think he's the right kind of player for us. An attacking force that includes Yakubu, Gallagher, King and Vassell doesn't fill me with confidence, they are all players that drift in and out of games. No, you're not. I've tried to convince people but I am close to admitting defeat.

Not so sure the Maynard deal is dead, another offer is likely to go in this week and he has yet to renew his contract at Bristol City apparently. Offer £4m and the deal's very much alive.

Nick Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I think Yakubu would be a great acquisition, though not the sole answer to goalscoring. He'd get 20 goals, I have no doubt..... but against who? I would be interested to see a list of the teams he scored his 11 goals against for us last season and an adjacent list of the teams we played against where he did not score. Now, there are a lot of variables here but I do think it would make some interesting reading......... I think we need another tall, mobile centre forward. or maybe Roque Santa Cruz - he'd do nicely.
Ash Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Id love Yak back here, he is lazy and frustrating but scores goals and has that bit of quality and creativity we lack at times!
Ashley Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I think people are panicing to much, what will be will be. I believe Sven has target(S) lined up

You know this already Nick, he only scores against easy teams, he doesn't turn up against the top teams, he's single handidly responsible for us not playing the likes of Liverpool and Stoke this season. Now that is sarcasm.
MPH Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 I don't understand anyone who would NOT want Yakubu at the club. I can't think of a striker we have had in the last few years who had a better strike rate in the championship. I'd be intrested to know if you wont settle for 11/20... what WILL be good enough?
Burmesefox Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 On the Radio Leicester phone in Stringer says that he believes the Yak will not be coming.
Jimothy Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 On the Radio Leicester phone in Stringer says that he believes the Yak will not be coming. Not saying he will but that's the same Stringer that practically announced that Craig Mackail-Smith had signed on Friday.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 On the Radio Leicester phone in Stringer says that he believes the Yak will not be coming. Stringer said CMS will be signing and he didn't I think we will get Yakubu
whitlock Posted 4 July 2011 Posted 4 July 2011 Stringer said CMS will be signing and he didn't I think we will get Yakubu He'd be here right now if he was coming IMO.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 He'd be here right now if he was coming IMO. He may decide to lower his wage demands if no-one else comes in for him. I hope so anyway.

Football is a TEAM game. When the Yak was here our results weren't quite good enough, and his inconsistent performances were a key factor in that. I don't see a queue of Premier/Championship clubs eagerly forming to snap him up.
okie fox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I know this is blasphemy on this forum, but Yakubu's all round game at this stage in his career is not good enough to get us promoted. He has had a serious achilles injury and so is not the same player he once was. For example, when we are under the cosh at West Ham away, the Yak will be an expensive passenger. He will only score in games we dominate.
sdb Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Is Yak just trying to avoid pre season? He'll sign with us early August, relax (like he is currently doing!).
