How can you say 4 million is to much for a proven scorer Maynard ain't worth what Bristol want for him I'd rather yak any way

It`s true,Maynards not worth what Bristol want for him, in much the same way as mills wasn`t worth what we paid Reading for him, but it`s a sellers market at the moment.

I would be happy enough to see the yak back, but given the choice, i would prefer Maynard, younger, quicker and still full of potential.

Would love to see them both here, but i can`t see that happening, it`s going to be one or the other, i would think.

I know some people dont get his playing style but the Yak = goals.

His goals got pompey out of this league a few seasons back and at this level he is absolutely lethal.

Would love to see him lead our attack.

If that's the case, then i'd feel slightly more positive about having the Yak here

Edit: Though, from what I'v read, it's only been used recently in the under 21 tournaments. I can't imagine they'd have scanned Yak, after all there's no upper age limit for a footballer

You don't genuinely think he is lying about his age do you?:giggle:

And even if he was 47 years old I couldn't give a flying f#ck, he scores goals, that's a strikers job! Goals win games. Winning games gets us up that table.

£4m for a proven scorer who is imo looking leaner than he has done in a few seasons he must of got sick of the stick that our fans gave him last season ............... maybe i should send my missus on the pitch for a few games maybe she will lose some weight

We havent got anybody who will get 20 to 25 goals a season. Call him lazy overweight if you want but in my opinion with the back four hopefully sorted i feel yak is the only other signing we need as his goals would get us out of this league. Whether its 4 million or not i say get him in!

What makes me laugh about this £4m bid for Yakubu is that originally we could have got him for £2m and the other £2m could have paid most of his wages! So now he's going to cost us even more... Strange. Stinks of desperation to me but I suppose we are!

Right, so just to clarify, you don't know that he was razor sharp. This is second-hand information. From a friendly against Bury.

Hardly a ringing endorsement for us signing him.

For the record, I think we should sign him. But claiming he

was "razor sharp" on the back of a performance against a

League Two side that you didn't even see is extraordinary

Right, my friend is an Everton season ticket holder, he told

Me last season that the Yak looked sluggish. Unfit and played with little desire, he said that the Yak was all over the place the other day creating chances, looking fit and looking determined. His words were 'old yak is looking razor sharp'.

Just what he said.

Lets hope that the Yak wants a good feeding on the pitch!! Feed the Yak and he will score :scarf:

What's strange is that people believe he was available for £2m. That was paper talk.

I cannot imagine that we will get Maynard but who knows, If we can get the Yak and Heskey for a combined fee which is cheaper than Maynard then do it

I'd love to be proved wrong but I don't think Yakubu and Heskey would work well together, not enough pace. But again, we shall see.

David Nugent would offer the pace outlet obviously not to the extent of someone like Maynard, but he still relatively quick

10 years ago they'd have been insane. Now I feel they'd lack mobility as a pair. It's also mean changing our formation and ideally looking for out and out wingers.

Maynard's still my first choice but i'm happy with the three we're being linked to.

Absolutely.

His goals ratio last season may look good but bare in mind that his was our only out-and-out striker and he scored most of them towards the end of the season when there wasn't much to play for.

My opinion of him is he's slow, old, lazy, clumbersome and misses a lot of good chances. I also don't think he fits into Sven's aim of signing players with a real desire to play for Leicester.

If we are going to play the same system as last year, we NEED the striker to have good movement.

£4m and high wages with all that in mind, no thanks.

Yakubu's movement in and around the penalty area last season was absolutely excellent.

It was his work rate that was the problem.
