Zingari Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 if Goodwillie signs I'm definitely having that on my shirt i'm not one to brag but hey , you can't pass up opportunities like that
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Please, no players from Scotland RACIST!
Soar Fox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Buying from SPL teams (unless they're Celtic or Rangers) is like buying from League One teams. Barry robson kris Boyd Scott mcdonald kevin thompson all signed from rangers/Celtic hardly set the league alight.
Wymsey Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Wigan signed James Mccarthy from Hamilton and he played a role this season, so player quality may not be too low for certain players at different clubs there apart from Celtic and Rangers.
Darkon84 Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 If a player comes from Scotland he must be crap but if he came from Iran or Japan or some African country people on here would be putting their names on the shirt. Ambitious? hehe
Criggers Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Didn't Charlie Adam leave Rangers for Blackpool as a "nobody" who couldn't get in the team? Or am I talking crap?
martyn Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Graham Dorrans, Chris Burke, Steven Dobbie are all more than servicable players as well. Just so happens that our success rate with Scottish signings hasn't been great which of course, given the intelligence of our bunch, translates to all signings from Scotland being utter crap.
The Doctor Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Well obviously I didn't mean there's NO money. just a lot less than in English leagues. Also, I don't remember saying anything about the lack of talent in Scottish football, I assume lots of players start their careers, snapped up by youth academies and the like. Further, I don't think it's an over exaggeration to say that 'most' (not all) players that are decent in the SPL are in the old firm. Pretty over the top response to show you know bucket loads about Scottish football, chill out. hold on: Buying from SPL teams (unless they're Celtic or Rangers) is like buying from League One teams. too true. there is no money in Scottish football hence why it is always either Celtic or Rangers that win anything in the SPL/ is what i was responding to. At no point did i dispute that there is less money in the scottish leagues, however reading that quote from trav le bleu and your response suggests you think the lack of money in scottish football results in all the talent being from celtic/rangers which is blatently untrue - there is a decent amount of quality coming from outside the old firm: which the list in my post was supposed to support.
Jackirius Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 How does that mean there's no quality outside the old firm then? Gordon (came through at hearts) Dorrans (Livingston) McArthur (Hamilton) McFadden (Motherwell) Brown (Started out at Hibs) Miller (Started out at Hibs) Boyd (Started out at Kilmanock) S. Fletcher (Hibs) Naismith (Kilmarnock) Answer your own question a bit there...
ScouseFox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 How so? Because none of the players you listed are any good...
The Doctor Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Because none of the players you listed are any good... Take that back, i will not hear a word against jamie mcfadden: or James McArthur: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2KaYrjLoV0 & Scott Brown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAfksLLG0is extra points for a goal v rangers.
Jimmy Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Because none of the players you listed are any good... Graham Dorrans Craig Gordon, Steven Naismith, Scott Brown, James McFadden and James McArthur are all good players
Jimmy Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 How does that mean there's no quality outside the old firm then? Gordon (came through at hearts) Dorrans (Livingston) McArthur (Hamilton) McFadden (Motherwell) Brown (Started out at Hibs) Miller (Started out at Hibs) Boyd (Started out at Kilmanock) S. Fletcher (Hibs) Naismith (Kilmarnock) and thats just players that have appeared for the national side over the past couple of years. Kenny Miller actually started at Rangers as a kid
The Doctor Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 Kenny Miller actually started at Rangers as a kid I'm sure he started at hibs, then wolves, celtic, derby, rangers, bursaspor.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 I'm sure he started at hibs, then wolves, celtic, derby, rangers, bursaspor. He went Rangers, Celtic, Dierby, Rangers didn't he?
Jimmy Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 I'm sure he started at hibs, then wolves, celtic, derby, rangers, bursaspor. think Rangers released him but he was definitely a Rangers player as a youth
The Doctor Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 He went Rangers, Celtic, Dierby, Rangers didn't he? no, he definately went Wolves, Celtic, Sheep, Rangers, Bursaspor - before that i'm not entirely sure but he did win the SPFA young player of the year award in 99-00 with hibs.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 no, he definately went Wolves, Celtic, Sheep, Rangers, Bursaspor - before that i'm not entirely sure but he did win the SPFA young player of the year award in 99-00 with hibs. 1998–2000 Hibernian 1998–1999 Stenhousemuir (loan) 2000–2001 Rangers 2001–2006 Wolverhampton 2006–2007 Celtic 2007–2008 Derby County 2008–2011 Rangers 2011– Bursaspor
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 May 2011 Posted 11 May 2011 I'd have Steven Whittaker here in a heartbeat.
wolfgang amadeus Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Robbie Nielson and Mark De Vries weren't great players at Hearts ffs Neilson was captain because he'd been there for ages and was always pretty steady, very limited though as we found out. And De Vries scored a fair amount of goals but I don't think Hearts were that upset they let him go.
Finnegan Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 Kenny Miller was a Hibee. I'm on my phone but I'm sure MTWG will gladly post a young Kenny bagging against thet Jambos for me!
The Doctor Posted 12 May 2011 Posted 12 May 2011 I love how little we care about the possibility of signing this lad that the thread has turned into a discussion about kenny millers career.
Nick Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 http://sport.scotsma...ball.6766297.jp sorry linkage is a bit old but it's one of the rumour sauces........
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 22 May 2011 Posted 22 May 2011 Please, no players from Scotland Watch it, mush, or yer gonna get mauled!
