Naughton, Bruma and Van Aanholt unlikely

Leicester City could miss out on three of their preferred summer transfer targets.

City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was keen to bring Chelsea duo Jeffrey Bruma and Patrick Van Aanholt, and Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Naughton back to the Walkers Stadium.

But all three moves look set to fail as Bruma is expected to join Hamburg on a two-year loan in the next few days and Van Aanholt could follow him to the Bundesliga.

Eriksson has admitted he fears he will also miss out on Naughton, who is attracting attention from Premier League clubs after his superb season on loan with City. He may also still have a future at White Hart Lane.

Newly-promoted QPR may make a move for the England Under-21 right-back should Spurs decide to sell, but Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp may even decide to give Naughton a chance in his first-team squad.

If Spurs do sell, Eriksson is expecting a hefty price tag to be slapped on Naughton.

"It will be expensive to buy him," said Eriksson.

"He is a great player and I am sure it is not only us that want him. I am quite sure he has had offers from the Premier League as well.

"I don't know if we will miss out on him. It is too early, but we will keep trying."

Eriksson had said he was waiting for the managerial vacancy at Stamford Bridge to be filled before he would discover whether it would be possible to bring the Dutch duo of Bruma and Van Aanholt back to the Walkers Stadium for another loan period.

However, Hamburg's sporting director Frank Arnesen is ahead in the race. He joined the German club after leaving Chelsea in November 2010, where he watched the pair progress through the ranks.

Arnesen still has plenty of contacts at Chelsea and looks set to complete the signing of Bruma, and is keen on Van Aanholt too.

Eriksson is also trying to bring back Manchester City's Ben Mee to the Walkers, but again must play the waiting game.

"It is probably a similar situation with Ben," said Eriksson.

"He has a hamstring problem and is not fully fit yet, but he will be fit for pre-season. He is a good player and another one who we will try to get."

Don't think Naughton was ever on the cards thanks to him not even being mentioned by Sven since the end of the season

PVA was passable, not inept but pretty far from great too

Bruma was a total cart-horse and wouldn't be welcomed back by me or the majority of people anyway, so thank goodness he's gone and not coming back.

Just hope we can grab Mee... Brilliant at LCB and not bad at LB too

So I am not reading your first statement incorrectly - You are suggesting that because Sven hasn't mentioned his name this is the reason he is not returning? Or that Sven hasn't mentioned his name so as not to get the fans' hopes up of signing him, or getting egg on his face in the media? Y'know just to clarify.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Bruma, but exactly when did you take a poll on Bruma amongst the fans, and become voice for the majority? Were you secretly passing out questionnaires during and after the matches? I think a few people did this for Ricardo, but I'm yet to see the conclusive report published for all our benefits.

Its interesting to see that whenever Sven or Faz mention the loanees they never mention Vitor.

I would be more than happy if we snapped up Ben Mee and the Yak on permanents next season. The others I'm not too fussed about. Yes Naughton is class but £5 million for a Championship club is A LOT of money... maybe there could be an opportunity for another loan perhaps?

Bruma and Van Aanholt, who cares? :dunno:

Please get Vitor in!

Not too bothered personally about Bruma and Van Aanholt. I believe we can and will do better. It is a shame about Naughton but, as we all saw last season, he is a Premiership player. We did well to get him in the first place.

I like Vitor but he's too injury-prone. It's a real shame.

So because he was injured for a while with us, that makes him injury prone? Surely an injury prone player is someone who is consistently injured throughout his career?

He KEPT getting injured though. He would play a couple of games, then miss some with little injuries.

Therefore he was prone to injuries last season.

Wayne Brown was a carthorse, couldn't pass his way out of a paper bag... Bruma was technically very good, just needs a few years to get a proper footballing brain on his shoulders.

Why bother wasting your time, you've no chance against the hordes.

Would have liked them all back really.

Van Aanholt has got a new 4 year contract at Chelsea, can't be as bad as what other people make him out to be.

Contrary to Naughton, Bruma, Van Aanholt and even Mee, Vitor is not likely to be a household name or have caught the eyes of many people here, what with his infrequent and sporadic appearances. It could be with purpose that they're keeping this transfer target close to their chests. Maybe a permanent deal or another season-long loan was never on the cards. Or maybe Sven is weighing up whether Tunchev should be kept before bringing in a replacement. Either way, I believe it's a conscious decision not to speak pubicly (yet) about Vitor.

PVA n Bruma are rubbish, but Naughton would be a huge signing so I'm sad to see it looking unlikey

:crylaugh:

You've got to be joking. They both play for Chelsea and Holland (different levels I think but still.)

Bruma is a technically gifted player and I'd welcome him back as a defensive midfielder. He looked solid in both that position and at centre half.

I'd also take Van Aanholt. His pace is essential within the full back postion, and although he can work on his defensive part of the game, he is fantastic at getting forward and some of his crosses were great with poor finishes.

Naughton: Disappointed but not surprised, he's a fine player.

Bruma: Have seen potential and wouldn't mind him coming back.

Van Aanholt: Wasn't impressed and not fussed.

Naughton will probs go QPR but there are other right backs

Can't say there rubbish when they have a contract for chelsea. PVA is more of a winger than left back and Bruma is more of a CDM than a CB but sven didnt see this.

Meant Sven obviously didn't think we had much chance, which is why he hasn't mentioned him.

Mistakenly clicked on your blog link sorry. Don't count me as your 50% increase in hits

Good point, plenty of good CBs are carthorses but with a footballing brain become great players. but as his future doesn't lie with us I don't think we should be his kindergarten and home to all his mistakes
