Adster Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Jay Bothroyd saying hope we sign Routledge, indicate that he is in talks with them? It indicates Jay Bothroyd wants Wayne Routledge to sign for QPR
One Arm Babba Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 from bbc website 1728: FOOTBALL - Swansea make an increased bid of around £1.8m for Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge, report BBC Wales.

I'd have thought it wasn't about who gets a bid accepted, it's about where the player wants to go! I'd love him at city
HEGGSY Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 I'd have thought it wasn't about who gets a bid accepted, it's about where the player wants to go! I'd love him at city Why would Newcastle accept a lower bid from someone if another club came in with a higher bid, surely they want as much money for him as possible
Kent Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Why would Newcastle accept a lower bid from someone if another club came in with a higher bid, surely they want as much money for him as possible If one club is in the same division as them.
CKB Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Swansea have had a bid accepted according to SSN, probs behind the times with that report but hey ho..
absolutelegend Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Why would Newcastle accept a lower bid from someone if another club came in with a higher bid, surely they want as much money for him as possible I am sure that it City (Leicester) want him then they will match the Swans offer
kingfox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 If he doesn't come here than goodness he is going to a Prem side instead of Forest, at least we can give him credit for that.
HankMarvin Posted 18 July 2011 Author Posted 18 July 2011 Swansea are poised to sign Wayne Routledge after having their THIRD bid for the Newcastle winger accepted. The Premier League new boys tabled a £1.8million offer for the 26-year-old on Saturday after the Toon Army rejected two previous approaches. It is understood the former England Under-21 international, who stayed in the UK when Newcastle headed to the US for their pre-season tour, will discuss personal terms with Swansea today. It looks likely that Brendan Rodgers’ men will beat off fellow promoted outfit Queens Park Rangers, as well as Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Leicester, for the midfielder’s signature.
psychonaut Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 I just cant see this one happening especially now Swansea have had an offer excepted. Shame. IMO we still require a decent winger, of course we can do without but if we want to make that extra push for top 2 then our attacking options from midfield need to be improved, especially in the pace department. I'm struggling to think if there is anyone else who we have been linked to with similar attributes as Routledge. Bar Clyne who most definately could be used as a winger.
thybluefox Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Would be a shame to miss out on him but I can understand him picking prem football instead of us. IMO a winger isn't our biggest issue this summer.
STUHILL Posted 18 July 2011 Posted 18 July 2011 Would be a shame to miss out on him but I can understand him picking prem football instead of us. IMO a winger isn't our biggest issue this summer. Nice to have one though that can give us a different option and style of play to our possible 4-3-3 we will play. None of our midfielders other than maybe Dyer are out and out wingers and can beat a man and then deliver a good cross.
Dicko Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Shame it looks like this won't be happening, as I do still think we need to add a pacy wideman to the squad. I'd assume that Sven has got alternatives lined up, and if so then it's probably time to move onto them, I can't help thinking that if the Routledge deal was going to happen then it would have happened by now, especially now that Swansea have upped their bid. Bit gutted, would have liked Routledge here.

Damn it Understandable to the Prem though, think we need the extra option tbh and especially the pace, because as it stands at the minute we're not as strong upfront as we were the second half of the season IMO

absolutelegend Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Have we still got nguessan? who cares? he's not going to play
DanTheFox07 Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Would be a shame to miss out on him but I can understand him picking prem football instead of us. IMO a winger isn't our biggest issue this summer. Yes, but we haven`t got a winger like routlage! different class
Bezzanator89 Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Have we still got nguessan? Yes we do. Not that he's gonna get any playing time methinks. He spent 6 months at Southampton in the second half of last season so that might mean he's not in Sven's masterplan. Think he'll be gone by the end of the summer.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 maybe we could go for this guy instead: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7047320,00.html
