Guest MattP Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Squad rotation i guess. Hope not, thats what cocked up the defence last season. A settled defence is the key. Mills-Vitor at centre back would be as good as anything in the division.

PeterTaylorsApprentice Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 As much as i'd love it to happen, i can see him playing part in the first team this season for Benfica, great player and i wish him luck.
21st Century Fox Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 If Paulo did nothing else atleast he brought in Vitor, stroke of luck that Sven has his Benfica links also.
Libertine Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 If Paulo did nothing else atleast he brought in Vitor, stroke of luck that Sven has his Benfica links also. And Yuki. And Lamey.
sphericalfox Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I think everyone is making the mistake of assuming that Bamba will play CB all season. I think he might be utilised as a DM when needed. Therefore having him on the pitch on or on the bench he'll be pretty handy player to have, making room for all the CB's we seem to be plentiful of now.
JJS84 Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Competition within the squad is what it's about, I say bamba will stay and if Vitor comes in Sven will make it clear to both of them along with mills & SSL that they will have to right on top of their game to keep their place in the side. That's good news in my opinion.
ousefox Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Would quite like to see Bamba at DM, think it may be quite important to have a big guy playing there in the championship.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Would quite like to see Bamba at DM, think it may be quite important to have a big guy playing there in the championship. Agreed. I think Bamba will excel in the DM role. He can also go on his runs, if it goes wrong, they'll be 4 players (maybe more) behind him ready to defend.
ajthefox Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 And Yuki. And Lamey. Not so sure Sousa deserves credit for bringing Yuki in..
Libertine Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Not so sure Sousa deserves credit for bringing Yuki in.. True. He said so himself. Forgot about that.
IronHidez Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 We were lucky to get Vitor last term He was a top defender and had bags of ability I would love to have him for one more season and if we make it to the prem even say keeping him would be on the cards! If we don't get him wish him luck abroad and maybe he is good anough to push for Benfica's Starting 11
Joe. Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 Very promising about him today, if anything I thought it would be the other way round with him and Mee. Cracking if he comes, we'd be sorted at centre-back for sure.
B52 Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 With all theese defenders we can make a strong push in cups also....

I guess we still dont know which formation we will be playing and as we seem to have a distinct lack of wingers being signed it wouldnt be wrong to assume we will stick with the 4-3-3 formation. which does appear to give us an outright DM spot. However we have Yuki and to some extent Oakley ( who played a few games there towards the end of the season) for that spot... Not to forget that Peltier can play there too. If we can get 2m for a player who will ultimately be warming the bench for a decent part of the season i personally would take it and sign someone younger and hungrier who will make the most of his chances when given them If you are sitting on the bench knowing that a club like Marseille are after you, then your heart just wont be at the club... They have a 60,000 capacity stadium and fill it for most home games....

shiv Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I guess, but i think one of the problems last season was rotating the defence so often, which i think Sven knows. I would prefer to have the 3 CBs we have, and a young player on loan who is prepared to sit on the bench most weeks, or our own young player. Edit: and i agree, Mills and Vitor would be a superb partnership. So maybe Bamba may leave. I think the main problem last season was the inexperience in defence. A mixture of experience and youth would hopefully solve that problem this season!
Bert Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I think he captained them in a pre season friendly they've recently played.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I think he captained them in a pre season friendly they've recently played. Very much hope he comes back next season! Bert,Have you heard any news on Chris Gunter coming to Leicester? Cheers!
JJS84 Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I think he captained them in a pre season friendly they've recently played. Are we to read anything in to that bert? Or has this deal still got legs?
Matt_B Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I think he captained them in a pre season friendly they've recently played. Yup was captain for a friendly they wont 9-1 against Fribourg XI and managed to score also so maybe Benfica will be looking to keep him http://www.planetbenfica.co.uk/news.php
Stevosevic Posted 9 July 2011 Posted 9 July 2011 I'd say Vitor looks more likely then Mee right now. Good to hear.
