Thracian Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 A Kiss For Mum ============= There should have been dancing And hugging, with twirls The day that you blessed us With a precious baby girl But instead as she rested Content in our arms The monitors bleeped Their most urgent alarms Coloured lights flashed Nothing seemed right And though battle continued Through the day and at night In that hospital IC room, All our hopes proved in vain, As that stealthy invader, Just shut down your brain And those highly-trained medics With their state-of-art kit Couldn’t stop that incursion Nor curb it one bit And as evening shadows lengthened, We could see hope was gone Only life-support breathed for you, Like some grim Ariston And though we willed for a miracle While stroking your head And squeezing your hands And your arms by the bed Your baby paid her tribute, Breathing safe by your side, As we kissed you goodnight. And gave thanks for your life. © Thracian 30-05-2011. It's the saddest sight to see a mother leave this world without being able to hug or kiss the beautiful baby she had always wanted.
Zingari Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 I don't really know what to say , but , "deeply touching" , and I hope this is not related to some close personal or family tragedy .
Thracian Posted 11 June 2011 Author Posted 11 June 2011 I don't really know what to say , but , "deeply touching" , and I hope this is not related to some close personal or family tragedy . The "mum" was my middle son's girlfriend. They seemed set to be so happy after coping with so many difficulties in their individual lives. But there are positives even out of tragedy and that's what we're all out to focus on...including the blessing of a truly beautiful granddaughter.
Solihullfox Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 My sympathy to all of you, the grand daughter is going to be brought up by a very loving family I'm sure

FoxyPV Posted 12 June 2011 Posted 12 June 2011 Thrac - If you don't mind me asking, what happened? I just can't get my head around this at all. How can a woman die in childbirth in a hospital in a first world country?
Zingari Posted 12 June 2011 Posted 12 June 2011 Thrac - If you don't mind me asking, what happened? I just can't get my head around this at all. How can a woman die in childbirth in a hospital in a first world country? i think the rate is about 25 deaths per 100,000 in the UK , thankfully quite rare but still a risk
