Spudulike Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 out of interest what's it for? if not fox hunting? It's to announce the arrival of the mail coach. No foxes involved.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Gimme Six, my friendly flea. Hop over here and tell D.T. why your fellow fans hate us, or do they? I suspect that it's only the minority. Why, comrades, there are some of us here in Leicester, who hate other teams. Come on, Gimme Six, I won't bite you yet. Here boy!
Haydos Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 People that try to create internet personas are weird.
Christoph Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Yeah it's amazing im being followed on twitter by this Posh fan and she supports Peterborough, Leeds and Man City! I asked her why they said it's fun to support more than one team even thought she's never actually gone to a Man City or Leeds game! Fvckin Hillarious! It's not that funny I support Leicester but also follow liverpool in the prem. Just makes watching games a bit more interesting

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Posh fans seem to hate Leicester a lot. I've seen countless car stickers with a Posh fan pissing on a Leicester shirt.. and my friends who support Posh hate us too... It's worth noting I live in Northants. Do you see them as rivals? Peterborough isnt fit to be a pimple on Leicesters arse

Saxondale Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 My experience of Peterborough (I used to do a lot of work over there) is that there's a surprising amount of Leicester fans there. When then town was developed in the 70s (or whenever), it was a bit of an overflow town for Leicester, Cambridge and Lincoln. The abundance of Leicester fans there probably fuels the rivalry a bit. That and they've got no-one else to hate, stuck out there in the fens.
Mr. Posh Posted 30 June 2011 Posted 30 June 2011 You'll no doubt guess from the user name who I support. Posh do have a very good reason to dislike Leicester, or at least they did back in the late 1950s. Posh were then competing in the non league and consistently finished top of the Midland League. In those days (for the teenagers) there were no play offs or automatic promotion to the league - you had to apply for election to the football league and then the football league committee would decide if you were worthy. Posh applied and were rejected thanks to the Football League Chairman voting against them. That man was Mr Len Shipman who was also Chairman of LCFC. We finally got voted in for the 1960/61 season (and won Div 4 scoring a record 134 goals in the process). Obviously, the older fans may remember that but many won't. So lets go to when Posh finally played Leicester in the early 1990s. As mentioned earler in this thread we did give you half the Glebe Road terrace as well as the Moys End away terrace (but not the points!) in the 1992/93 season. So how did LCFC respond to this act of allowing as many City fans see their team at London Road as possible? Well when the fixtures for the 93/94 season had City v Posh as the opening fixture of the season you banned Posh fans from Filbert Street. (Didn't stop some of us though - I was in the Double Decker). Again, the younger fans probably wouldn't remember this either. So the "local" thing also has something to it. Traditionally, Posh's real rivals are Northampton Town. Next comes Cambridge Utd. Now as the latter are no longer in the league, with the Cobblers doing their best to join them, that leaves LCFC as the nearest club to us that we are likely to play. MK Dons are trying to create some rivalry with Posh, but Posh fans don't view them as a proper club let alone rivals. Personally, living in Stamford for many years many of my friends are City fans so I have a personal rivalry with them and my brother in law who is also a City fan. Having more than one rival is nothing new. After all City have Forest, Derby & Coventry. No doubt, if Posh and Leicester were in the same league for a longer period of time than has previously occurred (2 seasons is the record) some sort of rivalry may be created.

Still, it's a nothing fixture to our fans. For me, personally I love to beat Posh just because my two best friends support them but other than that the rivalry is one-sided and completely insignificant. Although, I do agree should Posh remain in the 2nd tier for an extended period there may be a rivalry. But one would presume we will be 2 leagues apart by May,

I asked her why they said it's fun to support more than one team even thought she's never actually gone to a Man City or Leeds game! Fvckin Hillarious! @Jessicaac ?? Unfortunately, living amongst the Posh rabble, there isn't a high proportion of sole Peterborough fans. In fact, one said this to me the other day and I quote "Only old men support one team, everyone supports at least five nowadays." Ultimate Tinpot club.
Dan Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 It is frustrating how the two sides we hate most are the two that aren't as bothered as other clubs like Coventry & Peterborough.
irDeano Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 The majority of their fans who are my age have only been supporting them properly since their double promotion, and even now will still say they support 'Posh and....' usually Man Utd or Arsenal or someone like that. You would really have to live around Posh fans regulalry to understand how tin pot they really are. I know a Peterborough fan who doesn't support anyone else and he supported them when they were shit. Sounds like it must be very rare! (and FYI, he doesn't hate Leicester, though I just think he can't take the banter when we beat them )
Kitchandro Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 It is frustrating how the two sides we hate most are the two that aren't as bothered as other clubs like Coventry & Peterborough. TBH with you nowadays I'm ashamed to be associated with any of them. After the Forest game last month I've realised they are as tinpot as the rest of them.

Fox92 Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 It is frustrating how the two sides we hate most are the two that aren't as bothered as other clubs like Coventry & Peterborough. I know, thats why I see Coventry as "the derby". At least they create a hate back.

Fox92 Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 Haven't you heard? They only care about Villa and Brum lol Thats the thing. Is this always going to happen? Obviously Derby and Forest hate each other, everyone knows that, its traditional. Although Coventry's traditional rivals are Villa arn't they? They haven't played each other for years, and they haven't played Birmingham for two seasons (before this year). So, you can count Peterborough, but I always thought their traditional rivals were Northampton, so...

Sorry, my point was that some Coventry consider Villa as a main rival , even though Villa couldn't give two shits about Coventry because of their rivalry Birmingham. A lot like us with Forest and Derby tbh, even though before Clough it apparently used to be Forest and Leicester that was the main derby.
