Gaffer Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Nowt to do with fox hunting. Glad to hear they have dropped it. out of interest what's it for? if not fox hunting?
Jakemoore Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 out of interest what's it for? if not fox hunting? Is it to do with pissing off posh......since we 'hate' them so much
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 They're getting more cringe-worthy about trying to get us to hate them than Cov, at least beating Cov means something to a section of our fans.
Maybes Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Cant wait till they come on here again proclaiming they can sell 9000 away tickets for the game at Filbert Way. Muppets.
Poakey Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Some of these comments are making me cringe, have we turned into Leeds fans overnight because we've spent abit of money? Can I ask why Peterbro don't have proper fans and why they are tinpot? Are we to big to get into some rivalry with them or something? Have I missed something here or what?

The majority of their fans who are my age have only been supporting them properly since their double promotion, and even now will still say they support 'Posh and....' usually Man Utd or Arsenal or someone like that. You would really have to live around Posh fans regulalry to understand how tin pot they really are.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Agree with you there, it was cringeworthy. Remember having an arguement with Posh fans on 606 about how it is Leicestershire tradition and to do with fox hunting but they seemed to think fox hunting was mainly done in Peterborough!!! But I'm pretty sure they dont run out to it any more, not heard it in the last few visits. out of interest what's it for? if not fox hunting? A galop is a type of dance, named after a horses gallop (although spelt differently). The Post Horn Galop was a piece in that style to be performed on the post horn, and is a popular song with brass bands. As far as I'm aware that's all there really is to it.

My friends only supported Posh since they landed themselves near the top of League one infact my friend's twitter description is 'PUFC through and through, my second team is Man City'.
FuriousFox46 Posted 28 June 2011 Author Posted 28 June 2011 I get a very Bradford-Leeds vibe off of this 'rivalry'

Absolutely ridiculous.

Mickey O'Neil Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 They had good reason too. Two years on the trot we had half of their ground and infamously built a bonfire in their awayend. When they played us the next game at Filbo, we didn't give them any away allocation cos the Carling Stand was going up. The ground was 60% full. Other than that we're the nearest thing we have to them as a big club. Historically it's Northampton and Cambridge, both stuck in lower division. I must enjoyed walloping them 4-0 and sending their Flask Army crying into their Campbell's Tomato Soup all the way back home. Equally I hated losing to them 2-0 but loved when Cheltenham ruined their bid for Champions. I remember the bonfire incidents. Around the same time, I remember Rooster smashing one either off the crossbar or just over during a friendly. We took 2 sides of the gound when we built the bonfires. The police were quite brutal in the city centre before the game. I remember us building bonfires at Maine Rd as well when we lost in the F.A cup to Man Citeh. I think that was 1-0 after Delbert gave away a penno.
Conscript Fox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 I live inbetween both cities and watch both sides, but have had a season ticket at Leicester, never more than a handfull of games in a season at London Road, and I see the 'rivalry' as very much a backhanded compliment to Leicester, they look forward to playing Leicester, its relatively nearby and a club further up the food chain they love the opportunity to put one over on. A big day out basically. Also, when Cambridge, Northampton and more recently. MK Dons (wrong on all levels) are the best on offer around their neck of the woods, its not surprising they cast the net for a bit of rivalry spice.
ajthefox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 I'd never even considered it as a rivalry, I don't know why anyone would and can only take note from others that it's because their closest teams are too shit and we would be a bit of a scalp for them. I imagine there are that many more fans of theirs which will take a dislike to us now we're in the money though, and no doubt taking CMS away from them would compound that.
Conscript Fox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 and no doubt taking CMS away from them would compound that. Yeah, that will stoke it nicely, they really dont want him to go to Leicester, and were accepting he would leave but felt it was for Prem football. Him ending up at leicester would be a real kick in the sweeties. When it comes up I like to say he will probably make a good squad player at Leicester with a bit of intensive coaching, a perfect player for the games against the Peterborough's of the division, when you want to give your real striker a rest for the big games. They love that. If its delivered deadpan enough, without a hint of a smirk or wind up, all kinds of fun can be had.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 The only reason anyone goes to P'boro is to pick up

lcfc"weasel" Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 They dont like us because they are jealous of us. They want the fan base, and the new stadium like we have. Tell them we can swap anytime they like.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Yeah it's amazing im being followed on twitter by this Posh fan and she supports Peterborough, Leeds and Man City! I asked her why they said it's fun to support more than one team even thought she's never actually gone to a Man City or Leeds game! Fvckin Hillarious!

cambridgefox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 They still sing about Cambridge more than most at matches, its just that the teams are worlds apart.Cambridge hate Peterborough with a passion, always have and always will.If they ever played again it would be carnage after years of waiting,so it might be a good that they dont play each other. For the league Cambridge are in, they have good away support, but alot of idiots that have been banned.i went with some Cambridge mates once to London Road and Cambridge beat them 5-1,it is still sung about now,i think they threw some boro fans in the river from the bridge. So Cambridge would be their main rivals, but barring a miracle/disaster they wont play for years, which might be a good thing.
cambridgefox Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 It is fairly close though. You will be surprised.Just went on route planner ground to ground. Cambridge-Peterborough 39.9miles Peterborough-Leicester 41.3 miles
