Dunno if it has been mentioned but peterboring have postponed knocking down the new stand until the end of March eg after we play them.lad at work is a steward and was told.one last echoing sing song and surge!
Zingari Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 You'll no doubt guess from the user name who I support. Posh do have a very good reason to dislike Leicester, or at least they did back in the late 1950s. Posh were then competing in the non league and consistently finished top of the Midland League. In those days (for the teenagers) there were no play offs or automatic promotion to the league - you had to apply for election to the football league and then the football league committee would decide if you were worthy. Posh applied and were rejected thanks to the Football League Chairman voting against them. That man was Mr Len Shipman who was also Chairman of LCFC. We finally got voted in for the 1960/61 season (and won Div 4 scoring a record 134 goals in the process). Obviously, the older fans may remember that but many won't. So lets go to when Posh finally played Leicester in the early 1990s. As mentioned earler in this thread we did give you half the Glebe Road terrace as well as the Moys End away terrace (but not the points!) in the 1992/93 season. So how did LCFC respond to this act of allowing as many City fans see their team at London Road as possible? Well when the fixtures for the 93/94 season had City v Posh as the opening fixture of the season you banned Posh fans from Filbert Street. (Didn't stop some of us though - I was in the Double Decker). Again, the younger fans probably wouldn't remember this either. So the "local" thing also has something to it. Traditionally, Posh's real rivals are Northampton Town. Next comes Cambridge Utd. Now as the latter are no longer in the league, with the Cobblers doing their best to join them, that leaves LCFC as the nearest club to us that we are likely to play. MK Dons are trying to create some rivalry with Posh, but Posh fans don't view them as a proper club let alone rivals. Personally, living in Stamford for many years many of my friends are City fans so I have a personal rivalry with them and my brother in law who is also a City fan. Having more than one rival is nothing new. After all City have Forest, Derby & Coventry. No doubt, if Posh and Leicester were in the same league for a longer period of time than has previously occurred (2 seasons is the record) some sort of rivalry may be created. blimey, i didn't know anything about this , i can see why there is a grumbling resentment towards the club
Heskey2011 Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 me neither tbh i hate villa more than pretty much any other of our rivals, mainly because of the Brian Little leaving and stealing Draper, Joachim, and greyson, saga. Also just the amount of people at my school who didn't support city and opted for villa, i was at broko in enderby.(18years ago mind)
Number 6 Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 I technically live closer to Peterborough's ground than the KP, def local rivals and, on current form, would give us a game.
Fox92 Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 Sorry, my point was that some Coventry consider Villa as a main rival , even though Villa couldn't give two shits about Coventry because of their rivalry Birmingham. A lot like us with Forest and Derby tbh, even though before Clough it apparently used to be Forest and Leicester that was the main derby. Thats what I meant, I think. The younger generation will most probably see Leicester more as a rival than Villa because Coventry haven't played Villa in years. Obviously I wasn't during Brian Clough's time, but I can't see us ever being proper fierce rivals with Forest because Derby is like 14 miles from Nottingham. Although Clough's legendary status will add to the rivalry, perhaps because of what the great man did for both clubs. I don't know though, might be wrong. Regardless though, the fierce East Midlands Derby is Forest v Derby and always will be probably. Going back to Peterborough though, I'm sure if we were both in the same league season after season, the rivalry would be bigger.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 Cambridge were rivals of Posh too, and even to some extent Boston, but both have some what gone down the leagues.
crisp packet Posted 21 September 2011 Posted 21 September 2011 2 words. The streakers. What a day that was. 7000 city fans 3 streakers and a fire in the terrace behind goal 3 zip loss though

FuriousFox46 Posted 21 September 2011 Author Posted 21 September 2011 As a Northants resident you should know that Posh only hate the Cobblers, any Posh fans with car stickers pissing on Leicester have probably only been supporting the club for five minutes................. They hate Cambridge more than Northampton. They're the insignificant other. But, I have yet to meet a Posh fan (and I know plenty) that a) doesn't hate Leicester and b) doesn't have a second team. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35823508666 (creator is a Posh fan)
FuriousFox46 Posted 21 September 2011 Author Posted 21 September 2011 Cambridge were rivals of Posh too, and even to some extent Boston, but both have some what gone down the leagues. I suppose you're exposed to being called 'scum' by Posh fans regularly? Literally some of my friends had car stickers when they beat us 2-0
FuriousFox46 Posted 11 December 2011 Author Posted 11 December 2011 Anyone else hear these chants from Posh yesterday? "If you all hate Leicester clap your hands" and "We all hate Leicester"
rico Posted 11 December 2011 Posted 11 December 2011 I know she didn't want David to sign,but that's a bit harsh
Fox92 Posted 11 December 2011 Posted 11 December 2011 Anyone else hear these chants from Posh yesterday? "If you all hate Leicester clap your hands" and "We all hate Leicester" What's wrong with that? At least they see us a rival and come and sing that (same as Coventry), as appose to Nottingham Forest who don't - so it is just sections of our fans singing at them with no response.

FuriousFox46 Posted 11 December 2011 Author Posted 11 December 2011 Fox92 is a Forest fan. Don't be silly! He wouldn't have an account on here! They don't care!
Fox92 Posted 11 December 2011 Posted 11 December 2011 Fox92 is a Forest fan. So funny. Do you think I care? No. You don't me personally and you cannot judge somebody over a network. I make a round trip of over 120 miles just for a home game, and attend most away games, which is all that matters, as I know I am there getting behind Leicester City Football Club.

If you don't care why do you make the effort to sound so wound up over 'milktray of all people.

flowwolf Posted 11 December 2011 Posted 11 December 2011 Christ on a Tandem ( double trouble ) the very fact that anyone as a Leicester fan gives a moments thought as to what Peterborough fans think of us is an all time low. You are giving them air to breath when they are not even a flea on our arse. Stop debating the pros and cons there aren't any.
