If the last Labour government hadn't put money into the economy, along with the rest of the world, the recession caused by bankers would have been a depression. Unfortunately, cold feet has set in and the same old "remedy" of cut, cut, cut is now being employed and we are about to slip back into recession again, just when the spending plan was beginning to work. When history is written you will look an idiot if you continue to trot out this lame argument.

How taking money out of the economy can create growth is anyone's guess. If you still believe in Osbornomics then god help you.

As for the gold reserve sell off, the amount of money "lost" is as nothing when compared to revenues lost due the sell off of BP by Thatcher. Do your research mate!! Now that News International look like disappearing up their right-wing arses you might start to hear that there are two sides to any argument.

Oh dear. "The recession caused by bankers" "Putting money into the economy" "Borrowing creates growth" Do you work for the BBC or something??

Selling BP created one of the worlds most successful companies, and has earned vast amounts of tax income, profit into peoples pensions and employment. Selling the gold has line the pockets those who bought it. Comparable? What are you talking about.

He'll be found dead in the woods soon having 'killed himself'.

I KNOW it's completely the wrong person but I can still insist that everyone refers to me as 'Mystic Bellend' from now on

I can see the numbers 1, 2 and 3, the letter 'G' and the runic symbol representing Jimmy Page off the fourth Led Zeppelin album.

The cash is as good as yours

Pouring vast sums of money into non productive public sector jobs is not stimulating the economy, its an absolute fiscal nightmare that ends you up in a similar position to what Greece have.

Yes the bankers took a lot of blame, I dont think anyone would deny that, care to tell us which government de-regulated the banks so that they could get away with such obscene amounts of lending to people who were never going to pay it back?

Not bad, a mention to Thatcher again, what year does this actually end? :crylaugh: Thanks for doing so though, as the poster a few posts before said, BP is one of the most succesful companies in the world.

Yes News international - famous for support all the right wing arses over the last 20 years :whistle::whistle:

What are you, a public sector worker or just one of those brought up to vote with a pig with a red rosette on?

Has anyone ever claimed that NuLabour were anything but centre right?

The fact that NI supported said bunch of pricks is condemnation indeed.

The reason the public sector had to be built up was to give deprived post industrial areas some sort of economy of their own. In many instances the wealth makers, that the ConDems praise so highly, are heavily reliant on winning public sector contracts etc. If you take x number of public sector jobs out of an area where there is little other employment then the private sector is going to suffer. It's not rocket science.

Centre I would of said, the Tories were still further to the right though.

What do you see as a fair proportion of public sector expenditure then? You can;t seriously expect it to be sustianable at what it is now. We just dont have the money in the private sector to cover it. If you have a public sector that keeps expanding and a private one that is shrinking you will end up running out of money.

It's not rocket science.

That is a decent rationale for locating necessary public sector jobs in deprived areas, but not for creating pointless jobs all over the place, moving public sector pay above the private sector failing to recognize the higher pension provision as the benefit it is, and throwing money at various public services with no clear plan, and making no attempt whatsoever to address efficiency anywhere.

So you opposed the tories as well? Because they were promising to match Labour's spending plans right up until the crash of Lehman's in 2008.

Again your only point of argument on Labour's failings is you try to claim that the Tories would be worse. It's like saying we should of kept Paulo Sousa in case we appointed Bryan Robson.

I dont support any political party, probably closest to UKIP in my own personal points but I've never directly supported or joined a party, my views can't be pigeonholed into one specific part on the political compass.

Not true mate!! I'm merely contesting your utter nonsense that Labour alone caused us to be in the mess we are now. Seems this chap agrees that you're wrong as well.....
