Sometimes the burden of captaincy can affect a player's game. Mills appears a natural leader, which probably explains why Sven was so keen to bring him to Leicester.
bluebeau Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 I'd be very surprised if Sven doesn't make Mills Captain, he did a terrific job at Reading. He is what has been missing at City for a long time, a captain that makes himself heard & can organise his team. 100% Mills imo.

We will have lots of good players this season so king might not actually stand out so much so i would prefer it go to someone who is a natural leader.. Step Forward Matt Mills!

Yeah it was on that wine company website oakley is involved in - he was listed as vice captain which I thought was interesting.

Criggers Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I think Mills will be the first name on the team sheet. So Mills for Captain. The midfield is probably the area of the team that will change most frequently - especially during games. It would make more sense to have a captain who is likely to be in most games and who will also be on the pitch for a full 90minutes. I do agree that it would be preferrable to have a Captain who has been at the club for at least a season but the whole team/squad is changing and maybe a new and determined face at the front will help.
Dicko Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Matt Mills for me. I know he's new to the club, but by the time the season starts i'd wager that at least 7 or 8 of our starting XI will be new, and he seems to be a natural leader who will play every week.
