DID YOU EVEN WATCH THE MATCH? :crylaugh:

he was shaking like a fukin leaf, c'mon! He messed up because he was nervous!

...and that's exactly the point - he stuck to what he knew (there are videos of him doing this successfully).

It was disrespectful because the way he took the penalty showed he was blase about it. You just don't do things like that in a game of such importance.

Had he had contributed anything before that game, I could forgive him. But he'd done bugger all, then waltzs up and does that! Then doesn't even hold his hands up and say he was wrong?

I laughed myself silly when henry fckud that penalty up for arsenal- didnt he try and take a short penalty that went wrong? But at least hes a half good player.

I think some of you are on a wind up with this thread!

You must be a WUM, no one can be this blinkered. He ALWAYS took penalties that way - you think it would be a good idea to suddenly ask a player to change the way he takes penalties right before he takes one? Try looking up disrespectful too, not quite sure you're getting the meaning.

It's not like he decided to kick it with his left foot!

I don't really know why people can't understand why it's best to stick with what you know

And maybe if the referee's were doing their job properly he would have scored, but no. Marshall was almost 5 yards off his line

Well no, Pearson didn't really give him many chances. Think he started less than 10 league games and made more sub appearances. Not sure how much he can really do with that...

That says a lot.

He scored one goal in the season.

He's not as good as Howard who many believe isn't good enough for us now.

Have you written these exact few sentences before?

Just experiencing some really weird de ja vu feeling and it's creeping me out. Feel like I've read this somewhere weeks/months ago... :S

If anyone is on a wind up it's you, your post totally contradicts itself.

You say that "You just don't do things like that in a game of such importance." as if you are basing it on principles, and then you go on to say if he had a better record it would've been alright.

How does that work? What kind of principle is that? It's either wrong or it's acceptable in that situation, you can't say it's acceptable for one person and not for another.

I'll bet that if he had scored you'd never have bat an eyelid about him chipping it either. You wouldn't have been on here saying he was blase and how it was disrespectful to us fans and his fellow players, and that just serves to show how flawed your argument is.

What pisses me off is not that he chipped it, it's that it was the worst chipped penalty I have ever seen.

It took me a while but I'm over it. He is human, it was one mistake.

Get over it.

You watch him come out of no-where and be our top scorer this season, hitting 30 goals and firing us into the Premier League.

Would be such a good story.

I have a chip mn my shoulder regarding that french tosser yes.

Don't see that i'm contradicting by saying that. Although my words may not have made exact sense I was at work and didnt expect to have my words dissected by lawyers to this extent!

What I perhaps should've said was, 'had kermorgant made a bigger and better impact during the season then I may have found myself more forgiving when he took that penalty.'

I think most players would have the following thoughts whilst walking up to the box to take the next penalty,

'i haven't been here that long. The fans barely know me. Theres so much at stake I best not try anything silly'

Granted players do tend to have a favoured style when taking a penalty. But if you put enough power and/or it into the corners enough, then theres not much a keeper can do.

Frenchy did neither. Anyone fukin around on penalties deserve to miss.

I'm genuinely amazed how some are excusing what he did.

He's in the team for tonight

although I'd quite happily cut off a limb rather than see him in our shirt again, it's good that Sven isn't being dictated to & will take a look for himself

And here is where your argument is flawed.

Whats the easiest mistake to make? Not getting the chip quite right? Why not eradictae that mistake entirely by hitting the ball like any other average at best player would? You've virtually backed me up- Its bloody easy to get a chip wrong. Only an arrogant tosser would still try something like that when he's fully aware of the potential outcome and consequences.

You're the one with the flawed argument...

You're saying "why didn't he do it like everyone else does it" maybe he isn't comfortable doing it "like everyone else" and thought that doing the chip would get him a better result than smashing the ball. Just because he took it in a method that "any other average player at best" wouldn't do doesn't mean he was trying to be a cunt to the whole of the football club

If someone isn't comfortable with hitting a ball hard from 12 yards then maybe they should try another job?

I don't think he was trying to be a cnut to the club on purpose, it just shows a serious lack of understanding.

If its such a good method, why isn't it seen more often?

That type of penalty is taken all of the time across the globe, it just isn't as common in this country.

Yeh probably as theres a lot more at stake in this country (especially in a playoff semi). Money, the passion shownfrom the fans etc.

A weak point I know. I'm fed up of this thread now though! You will never change my mind as I won't change yours. Lets agree to disgaree

Ok, his peno was bad but how many of you would honestly volunteer to take a peno under that kind of pressure? Anyone who takes a peno in a shootout gains some respect from me, at least he was brave enough to have a go, I bet some of the players just said "no".

At least he had the bollocks to take one.

Bollocks or arrogance Wilko? A bit of both if you ask me.

(swannington got promoted to Div 2 afterall by the way! Inly found that out last week. we finished 1 point off 2nd place)
