Libertine Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 If Sven sees something, great. Maybe he could do okay in a better footballing side than Pearson's was. If not, then he'll go. He took a stupid penalty in a football match and missed, he's not a murderer.
sbfox Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 I don't believe that. He's not even played in a proper game for us since it happened. You bloody wait til he does!! So Kermorgant sympathisers, has our reaction been 'greatly exaggerated' (speaking as of now, not with what reaction you think he will get in August' ?? It depends how you read this. Does he mean our reaction has been OTT, or that the press have hyped up the reaction we;ve given him since? Yes, YOUR reaction has been greatly exaggerated. That's all that needs to be said.
Dylan Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 At the end of the day, he made a huge mistake, we know it, and he definitely knows it, and I'm sure he'll want to redeem himself. If Sven thinks he's good enough to play a role, then we should support him. If at the end of the season, we go up and he chips in with a few goals, giving his all, I'm sure we'd all forgive him. Main point: If Sven thinks he's good enough to be part of our squad, then he should stay- better than forking out money for a new player.

cc_star Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 christ, it's one pre-season game against some 3rd divisioners we all know what some people's opinions are of some of Pearson's players 'who only did well because it was the 3rd tier' and this wasn't even competitive, yes he had a better game than most, but lets not start sucking each others dicks just yet
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 I'd like to think I'm more intelligent than them itsthejoeker
Finnegan Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Anyone who wouldn't be "disappointed" if we're playing Kermo next season is straight-up retarded and that's the bottom line. Not because of one obnoxious penalty but because he was complete garbage in every game besides, taking about seven thousand games to bag one goal and serving to make Steve Howard look dynamic and effective as a target man. Sure he's got reasonable touch and a bit of technical ability but it's completely wasted by the fact he's otherwise cack. If we were a struggling, mid-table side with little budget then absolutely fair enough - let's experiment, let's try and make do with our current resources, maybe Sven CAN get the best of him, etcetera, etcetera. But given we've apparently the kind of funding that can pump the best part of five million on Matt Mills? Let's fucking improve on Yann bloody Kermogant then eh?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Sdbfox. Yeh my reaction has been exaggerated by other posters on here! I only said i'd boo him! I can't believe that people are not on the wind up with this. Its all very easy getting on someone else's back when they're in the minority. But you're in cloud cookoo land if you think your opinion amongst city fans is the majority one.
ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 I'd be disappointed. I've got nothing against Kermogant but I believe that we are stronger in the striker department and playing a different system to when he last played for us. I can't see him being the one up-top on his own and he also doesn't come across as being an effective winger - in fact I'd guess that Nugent, Gallagher, Vassell, Dyer and Waghorn are all above him in the pecking order. In short, I just don't see what he has to offer our first team in a promotion chasing season. Whilst I didn't think that he was great two seasons ago, I think that most of us need to remember that we probably own saw him play around 8 hours worth of football (maybe around 15 hours if you follow the team home and away).
TheUltimateWinner Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 I'd be happy with him being impact sub. Jus' hope we give him SOME respect.

I can't believe that people are not on the wind up with this. Its all very easy getting on someone else's back when they're in the minority. But you're in cloud cookoo land if you think your opinion amongst city fans is the majority one. You'd ONLY boo him? When you're a fan you have two options - cheer or boo the players. If you boo any one player, it not only impacts on their confidence, it also impacts negatively on the rest of the team. Why not try backing him? He might turn out to be a welcome surprise, being a mobile target man that has a nice touch and good technical ability. We all know that if there's ability in there, Sven will A) see it and B) extract it. I honestly don't think the majority of our fans are so blinkered they'd carry a personal vendetta against an individual against one player for an honest mistake he made over a year ago.
Finnegan Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 It wasn't an 'honest mistake,' it was a piece of stupid showboating. But I'm over it and I will cheer him on if Sven picks him. I will, however, be gutted if, after all the hype and all the top players linked to us, he's anywhere near the squad come game one. He's just not very good.

Great response. I work in a sports psychology arena and i just cannot understand why a supporter would boo a player. Perhaps the biggest differentiator of performance of any given player at any given level is motivation and attitude. More important than skill or 'talent', (is there such a thing?). Wimbledon won the FA Cup at 33-1 beating a good Liverpool side. Why ? They were seriously motivated. How would booing a player encourage that ? Yann knows the deal. But just imagine how motivated he would be if, (should he ever appear again), he walked on to a fabulous reception ? Might just be inspired to do something memorable ? Isn't that what we really want as suppirters ? Or do we just want to keep harking back to what has already gone and about which nothing can be done. Why drag yesterday into tomorrow ??
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 But kermorgant says the reaction has been exaggerated- how can he say that when he's not played since? My point is he deserves to know how we felt/feel. I don't buy into this sports physche thing. We pay their wages and therefore are entitled to an opinion. I do think most fans will boo him consistentley for the 1st game he plays, though I won't be in that number. I just hope that when the team sheets read out, its one big boo then get on with it. I'm not gonna boo him through 90mins of football. Hes not worth my breath. I think finnegan, your first point is the first time we've agreed on something
fatboy Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Maybe when he meant the reaction was over exagerated was when someone wrote that song about him, blowing everything out of proportion, and publically humiliating him. How would you feel i wonder if someone wrote a song about you like that? I would be mortified. You need to get over a penalty miss, at least he had the bottle to take one, he missed, that's life. If he impresses the manager, get behind him, and support him. The people who may boo are probably the same people who vilified Ricardo for flapping at a couple of crosses. IMO he offers more that Howard, better in the air, good technique with vison, a good player to have on the subs bench.

However, IF he plays and plays badly, the fans will murder him pretty quickly..of this I have no doubt

People will be praying for a mistake so they can jump on his back at any opportunity. If Sven sees something in him, and deems him good enough for the team, thats good enough for me. A lot has happened since Cardiff, and alot of time has passed. Its time people got over it and started looking at what could be a VERY bright future for us, and if hes part of it in the forseeable future, then we should forgive and forget.... Whos to say we would have beaten Blacpool anyway?

IF he plays, he somehow has to win the fans over instantaneously (maybe with a winning goal or a very solid couple of performances?)

I think thats the only way some people will forgive

I think thats the only way some people will forgive I reckon it would have to be Kermo winning the ball in our own box, dribbling past Higuain, Sergio Ramos, AND Pepe, before cooly 'chipping' the ball over Casillas into the centre of the goal. Doing this three times in the second half MAY help
RyanB89 Posted 13 July 2011 Posted 13 July 2011 Dont think kermorcunt will play and if he does not much
