The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I'm suprised so many of our fans seem so forgiving. Its too soon for me to forgive yet. Sorry but that penalty was not a 'mistake' he meant to do it. It was pure arrogance to take a penalty like that. Arrogant and fukin disrespectful to his team mates and us fans. I'd be pissed off if he took a penalty like that against Madrid in this friendly. Let alone the semi final of the playoffs, where the majority think we'd have walked Blackpool. I've never booed a Leicester players, as i've never had reason to, until now. I'm sure the bloke himself now realises how huge a mistake he made. Though I would boo, I would also feel bad for him. Perhaps if he would acknowledge that and publicly apologise to us, it may go someway to me forgiving him. Its still very raw in my mind, as you may tell.
Haydos Posted 11 July 2011 Author Posted 11 July 2011 Surprised so many people would be disappointed tbh. Can understand apathy but 20% of people actively want him here. Bit odd considering the penalty and his goalscoring record.
Number 6 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Would not boo him but would find it very difficult to get behind him in a blue shirt again. Would feel really odd to see it and would just rather he left. I think we have better options anyway.
AdamN Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Voted neutral. If he doesn't prove himself in pre-season and Sven decides to get rid, then so be it, but if he puts the work in and shows the coaching staff why he deserves a place in the squad then I'll be happy to have him around still. In the season he had with us, he showed that he has the ability to become a good footballer, but for some reason never really got going. He looked skillful, strong, great in the air, and liked to stick a tackle in where it was needed too, so it seemed strange that he never really put in any particularly great performances. Perhaps that was down to a lack of confidence? Anyway, if he does play a part next season, I'll be sure to support him and hope (in vain, no doubt) that he doesn't get a shitload of stick from some of our 'fans'.
Fox92 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Oh fvck off will you. we were winning 3-2 with 40 minutes left, whatever happened before that means sweet fa from that point onwards. Why don't you, we're all entitled to our own opinion. If it doesn't matter what happened before, why are we all posting on here after every match?

Ford Super Sunday Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Yann Kermorgant broke my heart on the 12 May 2010, but am I angry? No. I'd done every single game that season, home and away from start to finish. I'd spent hundreds of pounds and done thousands of miles, and I was SO close to going to Wembley with the team I love, then Kermorgant did that. He took the penalty the way he knew how, we've all seen the video of him doing it before. He thought that would be the best way for him to score. If he'd blasted it he might have missed, if he side footed it, he might have missed. Everyone seemed to assume anything but a chip would have resulted in a goal. What happened, happened. I know football fans have elephant memories and petty grudges when it comes to this, but I just ask myself 'did Yann mean to miss.' The answer to that question is obviously no, and therefore I hold no grudge. If he's chipped it then stuck two fingers up to us then I'd be angry, but he made an honest mistake. Go on, all of you turn around and tell me you've never made an honest mistake in life or in your place of work. Kermorgant's mistake was a big one, but no-one can ever say it was malicious. If Sven thinks he's good enough for back-up or even the first team, then who are we to question him? Anyone who actually booed Kermorgant (probably the Ricardo lot to be honest) should be ashamed to call themseles a Leicester Fan. This is not Marlon King, this is a footballer who missed a penalty, and has to live with that fact. Hopefully, however, he has the same attitude to David Batty, who realises there are more important things to worry and regret than not kicking a ball into a net. I understand/understood the frustration at the time, chipping is always risky, but to forever hold a grudge, and potentially force a player out who may do well for us, that just sounds silly.
Daz93 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I can't quite see where he'd fit into the squad. He's hardly going to compete for a place in the starting 11 and I don't even seeing him taking a spot on the bench over Howard... He scored one goal in 20 odd games, hardly going to be of much use this season. Also can't really forgive him for that awful penalty, so I'd be disappointed.

You do appreciate that booing a Leicester City player has a negative impact on said player, as well as team mates, whilst also showing our fans in a pretty crap light? It was a silly penalty, bloke messed up. We can try and get over it or we can continue to let it overshadow the club and a new squad. I know which i'll do.
Fox92 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 You're missing the point, we didn't 'lose it in the first leg'. Ok, but I don't see why we didn't. The first leg, especially at home, is very important. Now, if we would have won or drew, that would have put us in a better position which wouldn't had eventually created penalites.
Father Ted Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I couldn't give a shit to be honest. I always thought he was an alright squad player, I won't boo him but I won't cheer him. I don't see him being good enough to stay on anyway. We currently have a 23-man squad in Sweden with Masilela and potentially 2/3 more set to join, I don't see us having a squad of 26 - perhaps more like 22...
Guest MattP Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 The idea of the penalty was actually brilliant, as he struck it the keeper was on his way the floor. Thats the plan. The problem was in the execution of it, he only needed to chip it more than a yard off the ground and he scored. Abreu showed for Uruguay in the world cup semi final how its done.

I hate it- its cringeworthy for the most part. BUT, I don't think it'd show our fans in crap light. This would be the first time he's been in a City shirt since then (pretty much the first time anyway) Its not like we're booing him 50 games later! I'm crap at getting over stuff like this. I don't think I'll fully get over it til we manage to get promotion again. Personally speaking I'd boo him the once, and then pack it in. Wouldn't like to see him getting booed for every touch, I think its the fact that he's not apologised that riles me. Didn't John Terry apologise to the Chelsea fans for SLIPPING (not his length) when he hit the post from the spot in the Chimps League Final? Its a common point fans make saying that it wasn't Kermagont who got us knocked out but in fact Waghorn. True, to a point. But at least Waghorn actually hit his penalty rather than fannied around trying to be clever. And at least Waghorn had contributed prior to that game in getting us into a Top 6 spot. As those infamous words say, "confidence is one thing, but you took it too far, did someone tell you you were eric cantona?" I can't forget about last night, I won't forget about last night
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Dreadful player. Blue Square League standard!
brockmyster Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 If he plays then anything he does wrong i, and most other people, would be on his back straight away
sdb Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 If he plays then anything he does wrong i, and most other people, would be on his back straight away :scarf:
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 As a side issue, I wonder what the players who were there that night make of it? Didn't gally tweet during this years final about how much he was hurting still? I wonder how he feels.
Old Aylestone Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I thought Yann was a poor player even before the play-offs. He was not worth playing ahead of Fryatt, Howard, Waghorn or James Vaughan. My objection to the penalty was not that he missed but that unlike Waghorn he missed by sheer arrogance. Arguably the greatest footballer to ever play at Filbo was Ferenc Puskas who played for a Old Rest Of The World side against Old England in a charity match in the 1970s. This was a player whose ball skills were arguably better than Best or Maradona let alone Kermogant.. He took a penalty - hard low unstoppable and no attempt to look clever..It was a match that did not matter but Puskas was still too professional to show off in front of goal. Kermogant spent much of his previous season here on the bench. Even when Fryatt was injured he found it difficult to get in the team. If he is better than Nugent, Vassall or Waghorn this season then we need to get new strikers in..
brockmyster Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 :scarf: dont get me wrong i would give him a chance but im not gonna lie and say id let him off and im sure others would agree a few wayward passes and i would probably honestly start getting more pissed off from messing up then another players
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 I imagine Sven is just having a look. No harm in it.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 You're missing the point, we didn't 'lose it in the first leg'. Of course we didn't lose it in the first leg. Infact, the first leg was probably one of the most cagey boring matches of football I'd ever seen.
Itsthejoeker Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Give him a shot! Not the first time someone's cocked up in an important game!
ajthefox Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 We haven't got enough forwards, as it is, never mind getting rid of some I'm not to fussed. Although I was dissapointed with what he did, remember, we lost the match in the first leg. The game we should have won. Oh fvck off will you. we were winning 3-2 with 40 minutes left, whatever happened before that means sweet fa from that point onwards. Why don't you, we're all entitled to our own opinion. If it doesn't matter what happened before, why are we all posting on here after every match? You're missing the point, we didn't 'lose it in the first leg'. Ok, but I don't see why we didn't. The first leg, especially at home, is very important. Now, if we would have won or drew, that would have put us in a better position which wouldn't had eventually created penalites. Still, missing the point completely. I am not denying that both parts of the tie are important but the fact is we were ahead with 40 odd minutes to play. No matter what might have happened had we won the first leg, we could have won had we not conceeded a penalty. You can't possibly say that we lost it in the first leg, that's not an opinion it's just wrong. It's rubbish and an excuse for those who are in denial and want to detach themselves from the painful reality that we were oh so close and then we threw it away. The match came down to penalties and as much of a lottery as penalties can be, it was still very possible for either team to win. Please note the emphasis on the word might as in your last post you say being level or ahead after the first tie wouldn't have led to penalties as if you can categorically say that if we were ahead we would've gone on to win when that is just pure speculation. Did it ever cross your mind that we could've won 1-0 at home, scored an early goal and then gone on to do what we actually did? It's just as likely that the reverse could have happened as us winning after 90 minutes. So please, if you still don't see why we didn't lose it in the first tie, explain to me how we were still destined to lose after going 3-2 up? Explain to me how we were still in a losing position then? Please, tell me why I should never have got my hopes up after kingy nodded in and why I should have known that we were always going to lose, thus saving me from future heartbreak for when we are 1 goal up but still going to lose because we lost the first tie. As for my two cents on Kermorgant, well I'm not fussed either way. Penalty aside he has shown us very little and it wouldn't bother me at all if he were to go. However, if Sven is to see something in him that could be worth having then who knows. It's unlikely that Kermorgant will play and bag a decent haul next season, but plenty has gone on since that night and stranger things have happened. Not to mention, as someone else pointed out he is human and as angry as that penalty made me, he does deserve a chance at redemption.
leicesterisme Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 I'd probably like him to go, more for his sake though because he won't really enjoy his time here with a large section of mongy fans booing him every time he touches the ball
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 'mongy fans' These wouldn't be boos like the ones for ricardo, who hadn't done much wrong. I don't think we'd be the only set of fans who'd boo their player in this circumstance.
