Can't see us winning the league, hoping for second and playoffs is the minimum expectation anything below and it would be considered a very disappointing season.

I honestly believe that West Ham should be favourites to win it with the squad they are assembling. We have added some great players too but i just think West Ham will be too strong. I reckon play offs, although obviously i'd love automatic promotion.

Having £100 on West Ham the day before the league starts if they still have Parker, Noble, Green etc

We've thrown together our squad. Hopefully they gel quick but I won't be surprised even if we miss out on the playoffs. I think automatic is doable but it's going to take some luck and some graft.

The last time we were favourites (04-05) we ended up 15th. Just because bets have been placed on us doesn't guarantee we will deliver.

An each-way bet would probably be preferable at this stage.

As already said I cant see past west ham, big sam is a genius and signing nolan and now taylor along with existing players will be very strong, the rest is a scramble and think we can get 2nd and a ticket to promised land

PREM HERE WE COME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nolan & Taylor are great club players and great additions to an already strong squad at West Ham

Players-wise I don't even think we're as strong as the second half of last season yet unless we sign a forward, however I get the feeling we could be a better team than last season's collection of individuals so should push on further. Saying that, if no one else was to arrive, Mills could be the difference

West Ham and Cardiff will be there or thereabouts whilst us and Forest, Hull, Ipswich, Birmingham, Reading, Portsmouth, Leeds, Brighton & Burnley will be in the shake-up for the playoffs

It's as hard a division as ever, but with money comes expectation and not being promoted will be a failure

i think its hard to prodict remember blackpool a couple of seasons ago....................... no one expected them to be promoted, i think the championship is one of the most exciting divisions because one week you are beating someone four - nil the next week you can loose four- nill, its definatly a hard thing to prodict so many good teams and managers.

i just hope for a good and exciting season hope leicester are up there, i think we are a couple of signings away from being real challengers.

in the premier league you sort of know the top 6, but in the championship could be anyone. i didnt vote cardiff into my top 6 i dont rate there new manager, they shouldnt of got rid of jones.

Do odds not generally follow the amount of money put on by betters as a way of hedging? I imagine a lot of people see the money we're spending and bet on us, hence the odds. To answer the question, personally I think we'll be looking at the playoffs.

2nd, think West Ham will run away with it. But stranger things have happened. There's some good teams in there, but with the money we're spending anything below top 6 will be a failure.

"Thrown together" ????? What an insult to Sven and his team .... :frusty:

I think he meant as in we have turned over a lot of players since last season.

I did indeed.

The away form is crucial. We should be very strong at home again, improve by 12-15 points on the road and we'll be right up there.

What with the new owners taking us over and all the various figures about how much we've had to spend being thrown around it was fairly obvious we would be one of the favourites for promotion. Its a big ask of these players, of which the majority has been brought in this pre-season, so unless we get off to a superb start their going to need time to gel together and learn to read each others games. I'd personally say that achceiving a play-off position would be tremendous, anything above that that would be heaven but realistically mid-table is where we should be aiming.

I think with the current team we have, barring any players that yet might come in, i think we will hover in or around the playoff spots. Whilst i think our defence with certainly be handing out less goals than last season, i just cant at the minute see us scoring as many either unless we bring in a proven goalscorer. So for me so far, we'll concede less but score less...meaning something similar to last season at the minute
