andog Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 And to say Long isn't a goalscorer... well, 25 goals in his first full season says otherwise. Besides Long being quicker, they are exactly the same, Fryatt worked hard enough for us, he fell out of favour and lost interest, just look how he's doing at Hull And where did I say Long wasn't a goalscorer?? I think you need to go spec-savers kiddo REEEEEEAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD before going IRATE ****ing nugget
Calfox Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 To be honest long or Maynard I don't care. Both would be great additions to our current squad all I was trying to say was that 7 mil isn't alot of money for a player in the football world wen u think about how much players who I don't think are way above Shane long or nicky maynards level go for!

I think you need to go spec-savers kiddo REEEEEEAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Fryatt's workrate is nothing on Long, seriously. You said that Maynard is a better player for various reasons, plus he's a goalscorer. Implying Long isn't.
Guest MattP Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 They obv already had a striker/ strikers e.g grant holt who can bag goals at this level.Do we?? I think not!Howard has got the worst shot ever all he can do is the odd flick on and to hold it up and I think waghorn could be good but we don't seem to play him enough! Meaning we have to go into the Market and we don't want just anyone which means we have to pay the money! No, thats why you buy smart. Cardiff and Forest tried to throw money at everything, it doesnt always work. Norwich brought Holt for fcuk all, Swansea bought Sinclair for less than a million, QPR built around a super defence nicked goals to win and had no one scoring 20+. Blackpool didnt have a striker who scored 15 either.
Ozwin Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 £7M is a lot of money to spend on one player! How did he do in the Prem with Reading?
Guest MattP Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 It beggers belief when someone compares Fryatt to Long Maynard isnt even in Long's league, Long will go onto to play in the premiership, Maynard is not definate to. Not to mention Long will play far more games judging on last season.

Implying Long isn't. Did you skip school or are you still learning? You're being rather incongruous.. That doesn't imply Long isn't a goalscorer, it means Maynard is aswell as Long - DUH
Craig Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Did you skip school or are you still learning? You're being rather incongruous.. That doesn't imply Long isn't a goalscorer, it means Maynard is aswell as Long - DUH Long is a Fryatt type player, who don't forget, we sold for £1.2million only in January whereas Maynard is stronger and faster on the ball plus is a goalscorer! You're giving reasons as to why you'd rather have Maynard than Long, no? That's just how it sounded. No need to get so defensive and insulting. I was only saying that Long and Fryatt aren't similar. Edit - and for the record, I'd rather have Maynard than Long too, but that's not to say Long wouldn't do the business for us.
andog Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 It beggers belief when someone compares Fryatt to Long Is that right? Well here's some facts for you Matthew Since 2008 - Championship goalscoring record comparison - Fryatt and Long Fryatt - 22 goals in 63 appearances - I make that 1 goal in 2.86 appearances Long - 38 goals in 115 appearances - I make that 1 goal in 3.02 appearances

Brown Fox Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Never rated Long at all before last season and even so for half of that I thought he was dogshit. Obviously if he can play like he did to get 21goals I will have no problems but on the face of it £7.5 million is a vile amount for a player with one good season in his career.
andog Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Maynard isnt even in Long's league, Long will go onto to play in the premiership, Maynard is not definate to. Oh, and Long's already played in the Premiership from 2006-2008 and scored 5 goals in 50 appearances, 1 in 10... Sign him up now. I'm telling you, Maynard for £5million is our best option asides a cheaper and talented prospect in Adam Le Fondre

If u can suggest a player as good as long for next to nothing feel free. Norwich and Swansea obv did well to spot the potential in both players nd get them cheap. We don't have that option, both long and Maynard now have a high valuation just like Sinclair and holt will now have so if we want them That's how much we have to pay!

Perhaps £7.5m might change brizzle's minds... What then?

Yeah balled my eyes out, was a disaster haha, grow up
Guest Bilo Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 I'm just looking forward to the Reading fans coming on here to tell us he definitely won't come here, how they're a much richer club than us and how arrogant we are, all sprinkled with a liberal serving of racism.
Itsthejoeker Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Gally's father-in-law is lurking Please tell us you know something
andog Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Maynard is not for sale, that much is obvious. Perhaps £7.5m might change brizzle's minds... What then? I personally think that's an offer they can't refuse. It comes down to Sven's choice, I personally would prefer Maynard even if it was for an extra million than Long. Who do you want to see us sign? Sven's promised a 'big name' so that has to rule out Le Fondre's thread
woody1983 Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 I was thinking about the Andy Carroll situation when reading this thread. I personally think he only had half a good season in the championship and got sold on for £35million. If Shane long has impressed for one season surely 7/8m is a steal!?!? Andy Carroll had 4 and 1/2 years left on his Newcastle contract and had 11 goals in 19 appearances for them in his first prem season before moving. Slightly different to Long who has a year left on his contract and one good season in the championship. Before last year he scored 23 in 131 appearances!!
