  1. 1. Should City bid for Shane Long?

    • Yes but no more than £6m
    • Yes but no more than £4m
    • Yes cash and player exchange
    • Only if we fail to land Nicky Maynard
    • Only if another Championship side makes a bid
    • No not a chance

So have we bid or not? Confuzzled.

Yeah, you have a handy habit of producing good players.

I want your scouting system. Do you reckon he'll be interested in a move?

Brian McDermott was the scout responsible for bringing Doyle and Long in. You can't have him, otherwise we'll be relegated.

To be honest our scouting system wouldn't be much use to you, Leicester need immediate success. Not unknowns who might be good in a years time. Plus our scouts didn't do a good job when we were in the Premiership.

Yeah... Okay.. according to Brian Mcdermett or however u spell it no bid has been made!

He probably just said that because it isn't meant to be public knowledge.

Brian MCD on Talksport has said that there has been no bid of 7.5m, he may be trying to be tactful or discreet

Here is his Interview if anyone has missed it

Reading boss Brian McDermott has told talkSPORT Leicester have not made a £7.5m bid for Shane Long.

The Foxes were reported to have tabled the big-money offer for the striker as they target promotion to the Premier League but McDermott insists there’s only been a tentative enquiry from Sven Goran Eriksson’s side.

And the Royals boss has admitted he would be reluctant to sell Long to their Championship rivals, as he believes the Irishman belongs in the Premier League.

For me, Shane Long belongs in the Premiership

Brian McDermott

“We’ve had contact from Leicester very early in the summer but we’ve had no £7.5million email drop on our doorstep,” said McDermott, speaking to Drive Time. “For me, Shane Long belongs in the Premiership.

“We were inches away from the Premier League last year. Last year we were in the black, the year before we were in the black and this year we will be in the black because that's how we run the club.

"If it’s a Championship club and it's Leicester who offer that kind of money then it will be down to the board. My view on Shane Long is he is a Premiership player and I’d sign him for any Premiership team that I was involved with."

Long has also been linked with West Ham this summer but McDermott has not given up hope of keeping the 24-year-old.

"I'd love to think it's a possibility he'll stay," he added. "I would say its 50/50. If a Premier League club comes in for him and the deal is right, then he'll be gone. We'll just have to wait and see but from our point of view we'd love to keep him."

Any1 think that this bid could

Just be put in to make brizzle panic that we have moved on from Maynard and we are pursuing other targets? I think they were resigned to losing Maynard but they wanted to hold out for 5.5-6m. It just seems like we hadn't shown alot of interest in long until now. I may be completely of the mark but what dya think?

I think that's why we were in for CMS but didn't turn up at the 11th hour, and also probably why we stuck an increased £4m offer in for Yak after our £3.5m was wiped off the table.

If that continues to be the case this /could/ be our 3rd attempt to force brizzle to blink first
