Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 The Turks defend their shops and businesses in east London. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/video/2011/aug/09/london-riots-london I fucking love Turks. Fair play.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Quote of the night "JJB Sports and Currys Digital has been smashed up and looted, but Waterstones next door remains untouched".
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Why dont they just send in the army? I imagine be cause it is the police that have the major amount of training in these things. Realistically the army doesn't have the equipment or skills to deal with this thing - unless your suggesting a shoot on sight policy? There is something to be said for a dictatorship you know!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Quote of the night "JJB Sportsand Currys Digital has been smashed up and looted, but Waterstones next door remains untouched". How anyone could tell is beond me, it normally looks like that (sports direct would have been better for this joke)
21st Century Fox Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Why dont they just send in the army? That would be the ultimate statement that the government and police have lost control and can't cope themselves.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 How anyone could tell is beond me, it normally looks like that (sports direct would have been better for this joke) Did you go and see Lee Evans at De Mont' by any chance?
The Doctor Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Why dont they just send in the army? Because the majority of the army is out in Afghanistan killing shepherds and arguably re-establishing the drugs trade (I'm sure I heard stats a couple of months ago saying that the heroin trade in Afghanistan is at record high levels after the Taliban had near enough destroyed it).
Stevosevic Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 The people doing this are the under class of society. People calling them deprived working class people is an insult to the working classes.
Guest Bilo Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Sending in the army wouldn't be as disastrous as some suggest, they are intensively trained in riot control in war zones. I wouldn't rule it out if this continues, though not with live ammunition obviously.
FeedTheYakLCFC Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 It just seems that the police are struggling to contain the violence so thats why I suggested the army!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Did you go and see Lee Evans at De Mont' by any chance? Colston Hall in Bristol - must be subconscious as I can't recall the joke?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I wouldn't rule it out if this continues, though not with live ammunition obviously. I say yes to live ammo.

Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 though not with live ammunition obviously. Booooo it's all about the live ammo. The bullets would bounce off all the trainers and 42" plasmas anyway.
21st Century Fox Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 What would the army be equipped with?? Rubber bullets? The police have that covered. Water canons? Apparently there are 6 in Northern Ireland and they are needed there because its marching season.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Colston Hall in Bristol - must be subconscious as I can't recall the joke? Ha... he did a joke about going in there and thinking it had been robbed, until he was told it always looked like that. Then he did about 5 minutes of jokes about the clothes being seconds, like gloves with 6 fingers and track suit bottoms with hoods on.
Nocturnal Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 What would the army be equipped with?? Rubber bullets? The police have that covered. Water canons? Apparently there are 6 in Northern Ireland and they are needed there because its marching season. Park a tank outside JD, that should stop the looting.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Water canons? Apparently there are 6 in Northern Ireland and they are needed there because its marching season. Army fire engines.... they can spray the crowds, and if they get set on fire they can put it out themselves.

So he did - what did you do, nick the pages as he tossed them off the table?
Guest Bilo Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I say yes to live ammo. Nothing could possibly go wrong there...... I am guessing your tongue isn't far away from your cheek though.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Park a tank outside JD, that should stop the looting. Killing the lot would stop it, too.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 So he did - what did you do, nick the pages as he tossed them off the table? He'd need a good throw to reach the back row!! ha. It's about the only part of the set I can actually remember!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Nothing could possibly go wrong there...... I am guessing your tongue isn't far away from your cheek though. Not as close to my cheek as you'd think unfortunately mate.
