David Lowe Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 On the commentary today Ian Stringer said it was a goal then said it wasn't over the line. Why can't he wait and be definite before saying this? Stringer and Nev have been my 2 favourites over the years but I wish Stringer would cut this out.
cc_star Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 I can't stand Young's punditry so will only listen to RL as the last resort, thankfully we were on 5Live today so I was spared Youngy's inept insights and general negativity I quite Stringer's commentary, makes a change to have a fan rather than a career broadcaster, however being excited in the moment he doesn't always convey clearly what's going on... and he keeps saying "on radio leicester 104.9fm" every 4.2 seconds, I wish he'd cut that out it's so fecking annoying... WE KNOW!!! WE'RE ALREADY LISTENING TO 104.9FM ELSE WE WOULD HEAR YOU KEEP PUSHING IT
ajthefox Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 Half us city fans thought it was in as well. I can see how annoying it might be, the radio is bad enough as it is, but it was a natural reaction and a mistake. Cut him a little slack.

But Young is just appaling, would prefer someone else to him.

m00nie Posted 6 August 2011 Posted 6 August 2011 young today on vassels sending off, "i dont think its a sending off".. stringer, "i do, even my 5 live freinds here next to me agree with me", young, " dont care what the 5 live think it wasnt a sending off "....

Just thought I'd say that it was a sending off, their one wasn't as bad but he had to send him off as he'd already done that with Vassell. Referee was awful and so was the linesman.

thybluefox Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 I'm pretty sure 3 quarters of the stadium thought it wad in, Christ he's only human you know, he doesn't have the eyes of an eagle.
Yojoe36 Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Get Bruno back on commentary Seriously though, Stringer & Young are better than our locals. The Derby commentator seems a bit camp, and is very depressing. While the Forest one, and I quote "Oh... Forest have scored ... yeah"
acooling08 Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 How could he think it didn't cross the line? Seriously? I like Stringer but he can be a fvcking moron sometimes.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Got forbid a commentator gets excited about a match. Don't like Young only cos i can't understand him.
Danno Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 I like Stringer, he is a good commentator mostly, seems passionate about the club and mostly talks sense. However Alan Young on the other hand....
buzzy Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 why the **** do most of you listen to radio leicester if you hate young because he his far better than matt piper from a couple of seasons ago who would put me to sleep with his ****ing dreary voice.

Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Young is not the greatest summariser ever but compared to Matthew Piper..... Or Stevie (I know we'll score, we can still win this)Walsh p.s. Love him tho ;-)
Saxondale Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 Love Stringer's work. Especially his metaphores and similes. And his passion. Best commentator in years.

I can see how annoying it might be, the radio is bad enough as it is, but it was a natural reaction and a mistake. Cut him a little slack. I did say that I like his commentary but whether it's a goal or not is rather an important issue in a football match! He could say ' this could be a goal, I think it's over the line.....no it's not quite in.'
Criggers Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 When he said "It's there" I jumped up punching the air shouting yes with my dad going mental. For that split second we were reminded of what we were missing for the last 2 months. When he said "Oh no it isn't" it also reminded us how painful football can be. I forgave him for that commentary error almost instantly because I don't think anyone else could be as much of an idiot to provide that sort of up/down emotion with radio commentary. Certainly makes it more exciting. And the next few mins flagging him off saying "stringers an idiot" gave the ref a real from the verbal One thing with stringer though,, he can shove his media hyping and "massive news" where the sun don't shine
Jay Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 What a crazy thing to moan about. how many times to people jump up in the stadium when a goal is offside, how many times do people think it's a penalty and isn't, how many times do people think it's a goal and so on. it's part of football! what do you want a delay before he says anything? Nothing wrong with Strimger thinking it's a goal and then sayung it isn't! it's what many people in the ground thought as well. it seems some people are ready to jump on anything he says and moan about it. My opinion moments like this make you feel more involved the initial elation, followed by disappointment. can't think of anything worse than a sterile robotic commentary
Criggers Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 My opinion moments like this make you feel more involved the initial elation, followed by disappointment. That's what I was getting at. Felt so good having that mini high and low!

When you're in the ground you can blame yourself if you believe something has happened and it hasn't. On the radio you are relying on the commentator
