Boson_Silva Posted 9 August 2011 Author Posted 9 August 2011 I am buzzing for him to play against Reading Never seen him play before
Thracian Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I'd put him on the bench for Saturday. Don't start him. Play him in cup games though And who would you leave him out for?. Our lacklustre attack against Coventry - if you can call it that - was absolutely screaming out for someone with pace and mobility, someone to make intelligent off-the-ball runs, someone to find scoring positions and then to have the composure to deliver a worthwhile shot. Who the hell else do we have with all those assets? It was embarrassing looking at, first Nugent, then King and Gallagher trying to find a modicum of proper support on Saturday. Schlupp is fast, strong, dangerous, willing and he continually asks questions of and unsettles defenders. He knows and will have played with almost all our first team squad for weeks. What possible purpose will it serve to have him on the bench instead of the pitch?
lcfcsmith Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Just seen the goals, his first one wasn't the best technically, second was a good header and third was amazing composure to round the goalie
Stevosevic Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Just seen the goals, all tidy finishes, first was pick of the bench.
Zingari Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 The only way is Schlupp baby for you and me now the only way is Schlupp! Also, on a serious note, the only way is 442! you gotta start that one
Rincewind Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 'Dont get carried away' Not while you are facing it the other way. The league is another type of game. Reading is another type of team. I assume Sven has assemble a squad where he can select a team according to the opposition and players ability to play the system required for each game. Shlupp will get his chances but to overuse him at the wrong time will not do him or the team any good.
Haydos Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Just seen the goals, all tidy finishes, first was pick of the bench. Where, on sky sports news?
lcfcsnow Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Just seen the goals on SSN, all well taken and each one came from a central position and he looks well built so wouldn't mind seeing him take the central role with Nugent wide left on Saturday.
broughtonblue Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Ok the boy did well, but it was Rotherham! If we could still name 7 subs then yes a place on the bench on Saturday. But as we can only name 5, I think a match against one of our possible promotion rivals might be a bit of a gamble. Wait till we meet a 'lesser' team
Stevosevic Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Where, on sky sports news? Yes, will probably be on again at 11.
StarFox Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Lets start him on Saturday. I would rather him play games early in the season than take the risk when we must win games later down the line. Plus it would allow us to make a better assessment of our striker situation for the transfer window.

What possible purpose will it serve to have him on the bench instead of the pitch? Yet again you seem to expect the earth from a youngster. Schlupp may have done well tonight and on loan at Brentford last season but to throw him straight into the starting line-up on Saturday against one of the forerunners in this division is not wise, it will only serve to increase the pressure on him. Start him on the bench and give him 20-25 minutes at the end to ease himself into playing at this division.
ScouseFox Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 Just seen the score and that the lad bagged a hat trick. No harm in giving him another run out, full of confidence etc. Exciting times.
mkaiser1 Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 The only way is Schlupp baby for you and me now the only way is Schlupp! Brilliant! Can I request a slight change before it becomes his chant throughout his career though: "The only way is Schlupp baby for Leicester City" May it ring around the ground on Saturday
Corky Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 He deserves to be in the squad at least for Saturday.

Guest Col city fan Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 I'm glad Sven agreed with me that schlupp should be given a chance this evening... ... If Sven has any sense he will do a fergie and introduce him slowly to the first team cos this boy really does seem to have something Pace, for one thing (at last we have found a quicker striker) and a good finish. Slowly does it Sven but let the boy begin to cut his teeth

Austin Posted 9 August 2011 Posted 9 August 2011 There may be doubt with the fact its against league 2 opposition, it's his debut for us, he's only 18. But I answer this with Realistically, if we're going to play 2 up top on saturday and haven't signed anyone by then, then there's no harm in him playing alongside Nugent, I firmly believe if you're good enough then you're old enough. I hope the lad carries on from what was a fantastic debut, i'm not expecting him to be the elusive "20 goal a season" striker we're desperately after, but he definitely should be considered. Looking at our current attacking options i'd pick Schlupp over any of them barr Nugent. He added something we've missed up top tonight, that bit of pace 7 strength, looked like he had the beating of there defence on numerous occasions. Fingers crossed the pressure that'll be put on his shoulders after a debut like that doesn't get the better of him. Hope he's involved in someway on saturday, even if its a cameo.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Thought he looked very good, even in the first half he had a decent shot and was getting involved in some nice link-up play. With every cloud comes a silver lining and Schlupp getting a starting spot on Saturday may the one to Vassell's red card. I'd stick him in in place of Vassell on Saturday, lower league opposition or not he took his chance to impress tonight and break into the team (unlike Waghorn). I don't really see the need for putting him in gradually, he's had his bedding in to professional football at Brentford last year so it's now about how he performs when he plays. On the basis of tonight he deserves to keep his spot. With Nugent up top there won't be the onus on him to be our leading striker and with the quality of players he'll have around him it'll make things easier for him. This isn't a kid breaking through into a team of players that aren't as good as him, it's a very promising talent with a bit of experience already under his belt trying to show that he's good enough to hold a regular spot in a promotion-chasing side. If he was a kid on loan to us from Arsenal, Liverpool, United or Chelsea I doubt anyone would be claiming he needs 20 minutes here or there before he could start. What's with Sven sticking him at left back though?! Is there something that Sven feels he can learn by sticking him there when it doesn't really matter (at 4-1 or in a friendly)?
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 why not! since vassell is suspended this will be the team i reckon for saturday. Also since this was like a second team I was suprised Howard wasn't playing, is he injured? or maybe its showing that he will be leaving Kasper Panstil/Oakley - Mills - Bamba - Konchesky King - Wellens FernandesGallagher - Schlupp - Nugent Subs: Weale St. Ledger Danns Dyer Waghorn

Probably because in Sweden he put him there to get his fitness up and looked good in that position
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 10 August 2011 Posted 10 August 2011 Probably because in Sweden he put him there to get his fitness up and looked good in that position The only reason I could think of was that it may be to try and improve the defensive side of his game Long-term he's surely not gona be a left back. Does anyone know if he ever played there for the academy?
