Jermaine Beckford

Well, my understanding is that the bid has not been rejected out of hand, so you may be a happy boy/girl by tomorrow's deadline.

I have never really rated him, but I've not seen a lot of him and trust Sven much more than I trust my own judgement on football matters.

Never known you to bullshit over the

years. Great player, just so ridiculously unlikely unless Sven knows Moyes wants rid. I just don't understand how an entire summer coupled with a bottomless pit of cash Has ended in this ridiculous super market sweep.

I actually came on here to share this news, albeit without any idea on the quantum.

I have a friend who isn't really interested in football but hears a lot of stuff about what is going on at a few clubs and he's just rang me not long ago to let me know Leicester have improved their bid for Beckford. Apparently its a substantial bid.

My issue really is that if we were serious about Beckford, we should have wrapped it up a week or so ago. With Yakubu and Anichebe seeming to be 'for sale' - how many are Everton going to let go? They don't have long now to go shopping for replacements. I do understand though that most fees incoming will be deposited straight in the well overdrawn bank accounts.

Who knows?

Anyway, I've been around here long enough for most of you to know I wouldn't bullsh1t you. Take it as you wish.

What I found most interesting was that I really thought we'd be back in for Yakubu - and maybe we are, but its odd that he rang me specifically with this bit of news about Beckford...

Sven Goran Eriksson is battling to seal a £4.5m deal for Everton striker Jermaine Beckford.

Leicester boss Eriksson has moved to test the cash-strapped Toffees’s resolve with an improved offer for Beckford.

Eriksson is running out of time to sign a forward after Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard insisted he wanted to stay with the Robins.

And the Foxes also failed with another club record £6.5m offer for Rangers’s Croatia international Nikika Jelavic.

But Eriksson has returned with a second bid for Beckford, who will be allowed to leave Goodison Park after just one season to raise funds for David Moyes.

4.5 mil may be enough for them to accept, whether Beckford would come is another matter.

He had an interview the other day saying tht he would like to stay at everton. BUT if a bid gets accapted he is willing to listen to all offers. So we do stand a chance and maybe if we do get him we can generate the other 1m into a loan move for the yak !!

Interesting.

Remember Everton need the money, and they need to sell some players, I think they would rather lose Yakubu or Beckford than someone like Jagielka, Baines or Arteta.

They even gave a price range of £3 million for him, so £4.5 million will surely be enough?

Fanhouse Percy has actually got quite a bit about lcfc correct. He was first to call Waghorn to Hull the other day I believe.

I think even fouth official has said he knows his stuff.

Fair enough

I'm still finding it very hard to believe though. Why on earth would he come to us?
