Alexikokopops Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Shall we ask him? Foxy Peter, Babylon wants to know how you're getting on. "That's very polite of him to enquire, I always thought he seemed like a gentleman. I'm pleased to say I'm very well and thinking about eating some Battenburg cake". That's fantastic, Foxy. Any predictions for the Forest game? "I predict that it's going to be a lovely day". I think that's what we all want, Foxy Haaaaaaaaahahahaha this really tickled me.
Steven Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 As Al said it is banned but it's difficult to police. At what point do you pick people up on it, how many words do they have to write in text talk? We're already accused of being over officious. and too lack. it really is a no win situation for us. As a mod on TB I feel your pain.
davieG Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 So should the mods do anything about this 'example' of text talk - http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=75849&view=findpost&p=1972430 Does any1 else have this where if we lose im in a bad mood for the rest of the day or even day after but if we win i couldnt be happier any1 else have this feeling
AoWW Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Would depend on whether I'm having a bad day or not. If I was, I might drop the member a PM, if I had a large glass of red on the go then I'd ignore it. The lack of punctuation, making it hard to read, actually bugs me more! To be honest I think there are bigger issues for the mods to focus on at the moment than picking up on every little example of text-speak, but that's just me. lol m8 lulllll r u cumin ovr 4 teh prty???? ef so c u @ 3 tmmrw srsly wkd innit. Fml This, however, would undoubtedly get binned and the culprit would get a serious kick up the arse from yours truly. Ttfn.
The Doctor Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I have no-one on ignore either. It's a fine line between being entertaining and being a willy puller, and I should know. I consider all posters as being like my children. Just because some of them are seriously impaired in any number of ways it doesn't mean I don't love them How do you manage to be so tolerant of people? My ignore list is on 71 and growing exponentially.
Webbo Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I'd never put anyone on ignore. How would you know if they were talking about you?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 I think Foxy should have his own thread. For the record I have no one on ignore either. I figure if someone's being a prat in the first few lines of their post I can just skip it. Ibbosuk comes close though - I've learnt not to bite though. But if someone IS on your ignore list and they turned over a new leaf and started being sensible - how would you know? I've noticed it happen (notably from younger poster who become somewhat more sensible when the hormones stop pinging around and they gain some life experience)

I would consider that but I don't have the patience to scroll through pages of crap to find something worth my time.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 How do you manage to be so tolerant of people? My ignore list is on 71 and growing exponentially. We're all just fools on the internet, ultimately; it's not like having some sweating lunatic yelling at you in a pub. Also, the average age is very low on here and I'm prepared to cut people some slack in an incredibly patronising and superior way. I think Foxy should have his own thread. I think Foxy Peter has about four admirers in total and that includes me - he's the embodiment of what FTers don't really want. Unlike me he's not really into self gratification, so this would be a big step. And where on earth would you put a thread about the inane reflections of a poorly stuffed fox?

Finnegan Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 ibbosuk is literally the only person I've ever ignored. Got rid of him the day I stopped being a mod.
Head Honcho Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 This is more for the LCFC forum but I didnt want to clog that up with more threads.... Don't shoot me but some of the posts in the LCFC forum are appalingly written, hard to understand and really drag the forum down. I don't want to come across as some sort of snob but whats anyone idea on coming down on things like "text talk"?? It demeans the forum and makes it look like its populated by uneducated 13 year olds. It really does ruin it when you are trying to read through the more insightful posts then to have to come to one where a whole paragraph doesnt have a word spelt correctly. Any thoughts?
Houdini Logic Posted 22 August 2011 Posted 22 August 2011 While you're at it can you ban text speak, leet speak and the over use of capitals and abreviations in usernames? I'm sure it's used as a way to buck the system by those wayward youth type. What sort of productive contribution is ever going to be made by 'LCFC_M4DxLOLZ'?
AoWW Posted 23 August 2011 Posted 23 August 2011 That was intentional of course can't edit Aww, shame.
